This performance forms part of the Hattori Foundation early evening concert series. This is a very friendly series, in true Salon-style, where guests are invited to enjoy a pre-concert drink included in the ticket price, a one-hour performance (without interval) and then meet the performers and Trustees in the Club's bar after each recital for complimentary refreshments. Clara Rodriguez Piano - Venezuelan And Latin American Music
A special programme of music from Latin America played by Venezuelan pianist Clara Rodriguez who has been hailed by the BBC as The Queen of Latin American Piano Repertoire Rarely heard musical gems will make this an uplifting summer evening with colourful pieces from Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil, Cuba and Argentina. Lyricism, virtuosity, varied syncopated rhythms from composers such as Carlos Jobim, Simn Daz, Moiss Moleiro, Prisca Dvila, Luisa Elena Paesano, and the premire of Claras own composition to accompany the tasting notes of a unique, Venezuelan beverage, composed in tandem with Leonardo and Jean-Luc Muller to the Sonic Seasoning findings of expert, Oxford University Professor Charles Spence, The Chancellors Treasured Notes.

A recital of a variety of music by Julian Dawes for voice, cello and piano. In the intimate and unique setting of the 1901 Arts club. Julian Dawes has worked extensively as a composer, accompanist and teacher. He has written scores for many theatre productions in the United Kingdom, including credits at the Royal Court, The Riverside Studios, Battersea Arts Centre, The Arts Theatre and The Bristol Old Vic. His scores for Brecht’s Caucasian Chalk Circle and Edward ll are both scores for these plays lodged with the Brecht Estate in Berlin. His musical The Braddocks Time was a commission by the Everyman Theatre, Liverpool, and The Sacrifice, a music drama based on a Japanese No play was initially premiered at the Royal Court Theatre, and in a revised version by The Acting Company at the New End Theatre. For the concert hall he wrote a Mandolin Concerto, a commission from an International Music Competition for professional Mandolin players in Schweinfurt Germany. He has written choral music and chamber music for a variety of combinations of instruments, as well as thirteen song-cycles, including ‘Songs of Ashes’, a setting of fifteen poems by the Polish poet, Jerzy Ficowski, on the subject of the Holocaust. This work has been broadcast in Israel a number of times. His cantata ‘The Death of Moses’ and his Oratorio ‘Ruth’ were both first performed in London to high acclaim, as was also a recital of his music at the Wigmore Hall. His third oratorio, Shirat Hayam (The Song of the Sea), a setting of the biblical poem from the book of Exodus, received its first performance by the Alyth Choral Society in 2013, and his Pesach Cantata telling the story of Passover was first performed at the New London Synagogue in April 2016.

As part of the 10 year anniversary celebrations Heppleston Double Basses is proud to present a night of music with Ewan Hastie at 1901 Arts Club on the evening of Wednesday 29 July 2026. Ewan Hastie is a multi-award-winning bassist and composer, quickly making his mark on the UK jazz scene. In 2022, he won BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year, performing at Londons Queen Elizabeth Hall, and followed this up in 2023 with the Best Instrumentalist Award at the Scottish Jazz Awards. Joining him for this performance are friends and familiar faces on the scene, coming together for an evening of exciting music consisting of classic American songbook standards. DUO DIESIS Sarah Chungpiano Pietro Vinciguerrapiano In this lunchtime recital Duo Diesis are exploring the use of rhythms especially rhythmic groove and polyrhythms of different periods in classical music for 4-hands piano. Each composer uses repetitive motifs (grooves) to keep the piece perpetually moving in the bass/second part especially. In the Mendelssohn it's his ascending bass line from the beginning that keeps returning. Stravinsky and Carl Vine use polyrhythms between and within the repetitive nature of their pieces.
