30 Aug 2025 - 11 Apr 2026

Harking back to the roots of country rock and blues, with touches of Lynryd Skynrd, Allman Brothers, Little Feat and the ’70s sound of Cash, Young and Dylan, they appeal to the contemporary Blackberry Smoke and Jason Isbell fan bases. They are one of the hardest working bands around, touring and recording their songs of life’s trials and triumphs, in a traditional line up of acoustic and electric guitars, drums and bass.

Canadians In Space

21 Sept 2025 - 21 Sept 2025

Here at The White Room we pride ourselves on bringing the best & diverse artists from around the local area & beyond upto our lovely little venue so absolutely delighted to announce this fantastically different & exciting band to DH9 CANADIANS IN SPACE Do you remember the good old days, when a song with a dance routine was all the rage? Canadians In Space are from Barnsley, South Yorkshire and have never been to Canada. They are a songwriting duo (trio when live) and perform mildly hilarious pop songs so colloquial or irrelevant that the comedic interjections are often unintentional but necessary. Finalist at the Musical Comedy Awards & Winners of the Songs on the Key of Laugh, comedy song contest. They journey through space and time (mostly time) rediscovering their imagined shared past in a village neither grew up in. They are considered pioneers in the Soap Pop genre, based on the fact they coined the phrase and, in turn, the genre. If you love music and comedy then you are guaranteed 50% satisfaction. We look forward to another brilliant night here in Co Durham

Tom Bright - Solo Acoustic + Support From Matt Fairley
Tom Bright's feet haven't touched the ground these past 18 months. From performing on BBC One's Sunday Morning Live, at Glastonbury Festival and appearing on Sky News to supporting The Libertines, The Leisure Society, Ed Harcourt, Katherine Priddy and Alberta Cross on UK/EU shows, he's toured relentlessly across the continent. Armed with his guitar signed byJohnny Marr of The Smiths and John Squire of The Stone Roses, previous career highlights include performing at theLondon Palladium,Shepherd's Bush Empire,The One Show, multiple live sessions and interviews onBBC Radio 2,5Live,Radio X, opening for the likes ofMystery Jets, Tom Grennan, Richard Walters, Reverend & The Makers and working with the likes ofThe The. He's earned the plaudits of esteemed music champions John Kennedy & Guy Garvey, publicationCLASH Magazine and spent 2 years in Spotify's Most Beautiful Songs in the World with 'If I Met Your Shadow'. Tom is now all set to wind the clock back by releasing an early collection of songs he recorded with legendary producer and punk rock pioneer Mick Jones of The Clash/Big Audio Dynamite and his right-hand man Dirty White, mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Featuring Mick on piano throughout and even Sex Pistol Glen Matlock playing bass, the collection titled Young Old Bloke (abbreviated to YOB') offers a fascinating insight into how it all started music-wise for Tom. Theres rock n roll, big guitar riffs, tongue in cheek lyrics and even a theremin. The title is multi-layered, referring to how Tom felt post-pub landlord days, whilst also referencing working alongside music royalty, seeing that they were all just young old, or older young, blokes. Tom has three previous albums out in the world (all produced by Ed Harcourt). Before his musical endeavours, he was the UKs youngest pub landlord, and is also a former patient of Great Ormond Street Hospital, undergoing a multitude of life-saving operations as a child.
Like A Rolling Jones - Solo Bob Dylan Tribute
‘Like A Rolling Jones’ is the UK's most authentic Bob Dylan tribute, performed solo by the very talented Max Jones. Max regularly performs his Dylan show around his native Yorkshire but rarely ventures up to the North East so I’m delighted he is travelling up to The White Room. Equipped with a handful of harmonicas and guitar, also standing at the same height as the man himself, Max covers all eras of Dylan’s work & I know you’ll not be disappointed. He has the voice & playing style of Dylan & any fans of the original Bob Dylan should not be missing out on this show… trust me!!! Get ready for a knock knock knockout performance when ‘Like A Rolling Jones’ takes to the stage!
Inxs

Inxs

10 Oct 2025 - 10 Oct 2025

INXS UK are a North East tribute who were formed in 2019 but frustratingly didn't get going until 2021 due to the enforced Covid delays however since then have been going from strength to strength playing at venues & festivals all over the UK, including regular appearances at the huge FAKE FEST & TRIB FESTS around the UK, wowing crowds with their authentic, energetic shows which pay homage to the Australian legends. With the addition of a new bassist & sax player in 2024 they now have the INXS sound off to a tee & always put 100 percent into every show!!! Fronted by the stunning vocals of Barry Armstrong-Reed, this band is a must for fans of INXS or general good old 80/90s music 2 hours of classic INXS. perfect!!
Ash Gray + Chris Norris

Ash Gray + Chris Norris

29 Aug 2025 - 29 Aug 2025

Another top class artist from stateside is coming The White Room this summer. Absolutely delighted to welcome the amazing Ash Gray to DH9 Ash is the real deal & we look forward to his Americana, country fused show in August. As well as many amazing original songs Ash plays a great selection of similar genre covers which all helps makes for a great night. Heres a bit more about Ash.. Hailing from Austin,Texas, Gray, now based in Sheffield with band, The Burners play cosmic country mixed with bluesy Texas rock. Their latest album Chickenwire blends country and bluegrass with untertones of psych, rewriting the grand Austin tradition of the cosmic cowboy, produced by Austin producer Chris Frenchie Smith (Meat Puppets, Datsuns, Dandy Warhols etc) Ash has been gigging regularly across the UK, both solo and with his band The Burners, festivals like Red Rooster and Tramlines. Before settling for a number of years in New York City. Initially scratching that hard-rock itch as guitarslinger with legendary Epic recording artists The Cycle Sluts From Hell, Ash shifted gear, forming the acoustic folk-pop harmony band Ash Gray & The Girls, celebrating the release of album, Born In The Summer with a string of dates in the New York and New Jersey area.Pinballing between NYC and his Texas hometown, Ash finally bit the bullet, recording his debut solo album Once I Got Burned, with such Austin luminaries as Dave Biller (Dale Watson, Wayne Hancock), John Hagen (Lyle Lovett) and producer Chris Burns (Asleep At The Wheel, Jerry Jeff Walker, Dale Watson) Ash is performing a stripped back solo tour & got in touch so very happy he is heading to the north east Support comes from the excellent local singer songwriter Chris Norris whos Americana infused songs are the ideal start to the night.. Cant wait

Ann Duggan With Rob Hines

Ann Duggan With Rob Hines

21 Aug 2025 - 21 Aug 2025

This wonderful lady contacted me asking if she could perform at The White Room & when I heard her music it was a very quick YES!! So Ladies & Gentlemen Im pleased to welcome Ann Duggan to DH9 for a night of Americana & Country music performed rather wonderfully by Ann & her amazing guitarist Rob Hines The pairing of powerhouse vocalist Annie Duggan with exceptional guitarist Rob Hines is a match made in ... well, possibly Clarksdale Mississippi or Nashville Tennessee, or the backwoods of Alabama. Take your pick, but the 'roots' of their music undoubtedly originate from the diverse strands of blues, country and folk that combine in the melting pot of "Americana'. To classify their music as one or other of these genres would be to do them a disservice, as their mastery of each and all is palpably plain to witness in their performance. Annie's voice both powerful and expressive, encompassing the grit and growl of the blues, the more mellow tones of country music, and the subtlety of the jazz stylists. She employs all of these devices within her repertoire performing original compositions from the pen of erstwhile collaborator Colin Granger. The empathy between Annie and guitarist Rob Hines is all encompassing, and his impressive technique allows him to employ both rhythmic subtlety and impressive interjectory extemporisations in his accompaniments. His solo excursions are truly amazing, the powerful propulsive drive of the country bluesman in tandem with the Scotty Moore 'Sun Sound' Elvis era rockabilly 'licks', and an occasional hint of Spanish flamenco, a truly amazing combination of influences finding a home in his one man guitar 'orchestra'!

BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominee Jed Grimes (Hedgehog Pie, The Hush) joins Niles Krieger (fiddle, guitar and vocal) and Rupert Hughes (guitar and vocal) from NE bluegrass band The Often Herd to bring an evening of NE trad song, Americana, Dylan, a touch of blues and a few surprises. Double Denim Night - Celebrating The Late, Great Peter Boyle
In November last year we sadly lost my good friend Peter Boyle to the awful disease that is cancer. Peter was a huge influence not only to myself, but to many people from the local musical community & he is a huge miss to us all. He was instrumental in the success of Northern Recording up in Consett & was involved in some of the areas biggest events including the iconic Stanley Blues Festival. Peter was a mentor & friend to many & touched so many local musicians including many household names whom he recorded in The Miners Hall up in Consett on many occasion. Up until he sadly & so quickly left us, Peter was a regular in the White Room & absolutely loved the place, you might see his photo in the venue located in the place he last sat So its only fitting that we celebrate him, a few days before his birthday here at The White Room. Therell be a few musicians who knew Peter performing a few songs throughout the night but most of all its about getting together & having a drink, laughing & celebrating Peter As Peter always wore, and his brother GED still does, Double Denim, we thought it apt & very appropriate to make the night a DOUBLE DENIM ONLY occasion No DD, No entry Tickets are free but therell be a donation tin available with all donations going to the local cancer charity Willow Burn.
Vince Cayo + Lewis Pugh - Live @ The White Room Music Cafe
Delighted to welcome to The White Room, a couple of brilliant singer songwriters from Yorkshire performing a fab double header of their folk punk inspired original & carefully selected covers.. First up is Vince Cayo Vince Cayo is a touring multi-instrumentalist and folk singer out of Bradford. Fresh out of school he hit the road and honed his trade on the roads ofEurope and America, drawing inspiration from the likes of Flogging Molly, BillyBragg and Bob Dylan. Eventually settling in West Yorkshire, gigs started lining up across The Uk &Europe, and connections were being made, which eventually led to an introduction to top West Yorkshire producer Grant Henderson with whomVince would make two albums, Bound For Glory (2017) and Lucky Red Hat(2018). This (Lucky Red Hat) channels some big themes into real gone songs! Jumbo Records Vince Cayo is one of the most promising young folk singers in Yorkshire, having shared stages with heavyweights of the punk and folk genres in thelikes of Jesse Ahern, Days N Daze, Street Dogs and the Rumjacks His sound and performance has been described by London Celtic Punks as A strong voice that growls out at you like Tom Waits lashing it up with Shane McGowan And also Lewis Pugh Lewis Pugh is a prolific songwriter with influences ranging from bluegrass, country, folk through to skiffle and punk. Brought up going to bluegrass and folk festivals with his family who were often performing, such as Cambridge Folk Festival and Edale Bluegrass Festival, Lewis' appreciation of roots music came at a young age. After playing in countless punk and metal bands from age of 12 until 26, Lewis gradually shifted back to the music of his upbringing. Self-releasing his first solo album in 2017, he has since released 'Dark Wheels turn Above Our Heads' in 2020 and 'Bullets for Bread' in 2024, finding a sound between country, folk and bluegrass with a distinct political slant. In between albums there have been countless singles & EP's, often raising money for homeless outreaches or food banks Really loving the sound of these 2 & we look forward to welcoming them to our lovely little venue in November ★★★ The lads have asked if the gig can be a pay as you feel as they appreciate times are hard & want to encourage more people to attend gigs. I think this is a superb gesture & hopefully will make people want to come & support new, awesome original music. Tickets are FREE but Ive put a suggested amount on the poster as feel they are worth this.
