Mesmerising Mechanisms

Ian Graham A free, hands-on exhibition featuring a collection of wooden machines which demonstrate the fascinating and often bewildering motion of mechanisms. Old-school, hand-driven mechanics: gears, cams, levers…those twisty bits… all working together to produce interesting and sometimes amusing effects. You’ll see drawing machines, which produce elaborate patterns. Just turn the handle to make your own unique artwork to take away. There are Automata depicting the secret activities of our favourite hedgerow inhabitant, the hedgehog. Sport, music, juggling… who knew? Not forgetting the ball runner machines, which propel lots of balls around in all sorts of crazy ways. Audience participation, Audience will be standing throughout, Audience required to walk or move around during the performance

The Eric Liddell Community Step into the extraordinary life of Eric Liddell, the iconic 1924 Olympic 400m champion, whose story was made famous by the Oscar-winning film, Chariots of Fire. From his sporting achievements to the lesser-known story of his life in China, this exhibition celebrates the Flying Scotsman and his enduring legacy. Visit this free exhibition to honour his remarkable story that's still inspiring generations today. None
