Charity Garden Opening - Benmore Botanic Garden
Benmore’s magnificent mountainside setting is a joy to behold. Its 120 acres boast a world-famous collection of plants from the Himalayas, China and Japan to North and South America, as well as an impressive avenue of giant redwoods, one of the finest entrances to any botanic garden. Established in 1863, these majestic giants stand over 150 feet high. Seven miles of trails throughout lead to a restored Victorian Fernery and a dramatic viewpoint at 420 feet looking out to surrounding mountains and Holy Loch. There are also traditional Bhutanese and Chilean pavilions and the magnificent Golden Gates. Keep an eye out for red squirrels and other wildlife as you explore the garden. Champion Trees: Many rare trees and giant conifers National Plant Collection: Abies, South American Temperate Conifers, Picea This is a fundraising event for the open garden charity Scotland’s Gardens Scheme which raises money for hundreds of local charities.
The Three Lives of Puck's Hut - Exhibition
Sponsored by the Younger (Benmore) Trust, this exhibition celebrates the Rest House built in memory of Sir Isaac Bayley Balfour, Regius Keeper of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh from 1888 to 1922. Designed by Sir Robert Lorimer, this modest yet much-loved architectural gem once stood in the magical woodland of Puck’s Glen. Exhibition Free. Garden admission applies to non-members. Cherished Plan – The Story of Puck’s Hut at Benmore is a charming little book for visitors who love Benmore. Richly illustrated with historic photographs, it shares the fascinating story of Puck’s Hut and the Garden.

Step into the hidden world of the garden after dark with our Guided UV Biofluorescence Walk. Using ultraviolet lights, our expert guides will lead you through the botanical garden to reveal the incredible glow of plants, fungi, and insects that is usually invisible to the naked eye. You'll learn how and why different organisms fluoresce, discover surprising species that light up under UV, and experience the garden in a completely new and captivating way. Mapping Arcadia: Chimu Peru Alastair Noble
Originally presented at the Cultural Centre Puno Peru this exciting exhibition will include a series of unique monotype prints made from wildflowers and plants gathered from the hillside of Chimu just south of Puno on the coast of Lake Titicaca. The title of the prints displays the names of the plants in their local nomenclature in the two indigenous languages of the area Aymara and Quechuan. In addition, framed photographs will demonstrate the printing method and images of the natural vegetation used in the process.
