Life Drawing at Summerhall

Life Drawing at Summerhall

16 Sept 2025 - 17 Dec 2025

I'm no good at drawing but i think i might like it anyway? Here's what happens: whether you're a seasoned pro or don't know a pencil from a pen, we welcome all ages and all abilities - ESPECIALLY those of you who think you have NO abilities whatsoever. What is the structure of the session? We begin with a short guided breathing exercise to help us relax those shoulders, and launch straight in to the drawing after that. Poses are between 3 and 20 minutes long (up to 30 on Tuesdays). The session is not tutored, meaning you're left to your own devices, but you're welcome to speak to me (or whoever is sat near you- make a pal!) about your work at the break time. Or feel free to join us at the bar for a chin wag after the session! Can i get a ticket on the door? We sell out most weeks; please buy a ticket in advance. On-the-door tickets are not guaranteed. It's £12/£8/£7. See below for more ticket info/T&Cs. Where is the session, actually? We're in the gorgeous wooden-pewed Anatomy Lecture Theatre - it's a cosy space with great acoustics for our carefully curated playlists of eclectic tunes. What do i need to bring? We supply various drawing paraphernalia to borrow (including boards and fixative), and you can buy A3 paper as well as lovely sketchbooks of different sizes. Do bring your favourite tools if you have them - but it's equally fine to turn up with nothing at all. Can i take drinks in with me? You can bring in bevvies from the Summerhall Bar or the MF Coffee shop (which does lovely hot drinks! but only opens late on a Tuesday). You can't bring your own alcohol in or it contravenes Summerhall's licensing. Thank you for your understanding. Ticket prices We don't ask for proof of income, but we do ask that you are honest. It's possible to be a wealthy student or pensioner. Belonging to these categories doesn't mean you automatically fall into the concession bracket if your bank balance may say otherwise. Likewise, you may be a fully fledged adult on a minimum wage job, or be between jobs, or chronically unemployed. In short, use the lower priced tickets if you need them. We are also newly offering 'pay it forward' tickets. Do you run discount schemes? Affordability is extremely important to us. We have loyalty cards where your 10th session is free. You can also bulk buy 5 sessions at a time and get £1 off per session. If you have a bulk-buy card, or would like to buy one, you can still book online to reserve a seat by selecting the 'bulk buy' ticket which reserves a space without charging you. We will then sell you a bulk card and tick it off when you turn up at the event. Refunds/exchanges You can exchange your ticket for a different date if you realise you can't make it up until 5.30pm on the day. Refunds up til the day before. Waiting list/cancellations/door spaces There are no guaranteed door spaces if the event sells out online. Citizen Ticket have a waiting list function which will keep you informed if any new spaces come up. LATECOMINGS The cut off time for a guaranteed seat if you have an online ticket is 6.55pm - after which your ticket is non-refundable and your space will be released to anyone waiting at the door. This is to make sure we can start on time. At 7 sharp our doors shut and you will have to wait til the break to enter. That is so that the space can be calm, contained, and feel safe for models and sketchers. If you know you'll arrive after that time and have an online ticket you can message me in advance (before 6.30pm) via the Reconfigure instagram page, email me at [email protected], or text 07913673555 and we'll be gracious if we can.
