Life drawing at Summerhall

Life drawing at Summerhall

6 May 2025 - 16 Jul 2025

Here's what happens: whether you're a seasoned pro or don't know a pencil from a pen, we welcome all ages and all abilities - ESPECIALLY those of you who think you have NO abilities whatsoever. You can strut in and confidently do your thing, or declare yourself clueless and ask for help; you can show off your work, or swiftly close your sketchbook if you're shy. We welcome ALL of you. Drawing starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm. We sell out most weeks; please buy a ticket in advance and be timely. Sometimes there are some no-shows but door tickets are absolutely not guaranteed. We're in the gorgeous wooden-pewed Anatomy Lecture Theatre - it's a cosy space with great acoustics for our carefully curated playlists of eclectic tunes, or v. occasional live music. There is a different model every week. It's £10/£8/£6. See below for more ticket info/T&Cs. We supply various drawing paraphernalia to borrow (including boards and fixative), and you can buy A3 paper as well as lovely sketchbooks of different sizes. Do bring your favourite tools if you have them - but it's equally fine to turn up with nothing at all. On a Tuesday the Summerhall MF Coffee Shop stays open til 8 and they sell beer and wine; you're welcome to bring in alchohol that is purchased on site. On Wednesdays alas they close at 5, and the Summerhall bar is still shut! So all other bevvies must be non-alcholic or it contravenes Summerhall's licensing. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you! Topaz and the Reconfiggy team x BULK BUYS You can bulk buy 5 sessions at a time and get £1 off per session. If you have a bulk-buy card, or would like to buy one, you can still book online to reserve a seat by selecting the 'bulk buy' ticket and we'll check your card off/sell you one at the door. TICKET PRICES I don't ask for proof of income, but I do ask that you are honest. It's possible to be a wealthy student or pensioner. Belonging to these categories doesn't mean you automatically fall into the concession bracket if your bank balance may say otherwise. Likewise, you may be a fully fledged adult on a minimum wage job, or be between jobs, or chronically unemployed. In short, use the lower priced tickets if you need them. REFUNDS/EXCHANGES Please let me know if you can't attend so we can release your ticket to anyone who may have missed out. Refunds up til the day before and exchanges up to 5.30pm on the day. No refunds or exchanges thereafter. WAITING LIST/CANCELLATIONS/DOOR SPACES There are no guaranteed door spaces if the event sells out online. Feel free to contact me to be put on a waiting list, and if I have cancellations I will notify you and allocate you a ticket. LATECOMINGS The cut off time for a guaranteed seat if you've an online ticket is 6.55pm - after which your ticket is non-refundable and your space will be released to anyone waiting. This is to make sure we can start on time. At 7 sharp our doors shut and you will have to wait til the break to enter. That is so that the space can be calm, contained, and feel safe for models and sketchers. If you know you'll arrive after that time and have an online ticket you can message me in advance (before 6.30pm) via the Reconfigure FB page, email me at [email protected], or text 07913673555 and we'll be gracious if we can. Pussy Riot: Riot Days

12 Aug 2025 - 24 Aug 2025

Feminist performance art collective Pussy Riot made international headlines in 2012 after members were arrested and imprisoned for protesting the re-election of Russian President Vladimir Putin and perceived corruption in the Russian Orthodox church. Initially known for playing lo-fi punk rock and staging impromptu protest performances, the group eventually started touring internationally, and expanded their music to incorporate left-field pop, dance, and hip-hop. During the early 2020s, they released collaborations with Tom Morello, Dorian Electra, and Big Freedia, and their mixtape Matriarchy Now appeared in 2022.
