Join artist Amartey Golding for a guided tour of his solo exhibition, which features a large-scale chainmail sculpture created in collaboration with imprisoned men from HMP Altcourse, alongside a new audio work. As you follow the artist, you are invited to reflect on how art can affect public attitudes, influence decision-making in the justice system and create a space for dialogue and representation. This exhibition marks the conclusion of FACT's multi-year Resolution project. Amartey Golding is a British artist who often turns to his Anglo-Scottish and Ghanaian ancestry by way of a Rastafarian upbringing as a point of departure from which to explore the seemingly contradictory fabric of our human condition. Golding began his practice as a teenager, selling his first works from his youth hostel room. He went on to study Architecture, Space, and Objects at Central Saint Martins for three years before leaving to focus entirely on his practice. His design background continues to inform his work today, often blurring the practical with the conceptual. Golding works across a wide range of mediums, including drawing, printmaking, sculpture, film, chainmail, and wig-making. He draws on a wide array of cultural references from popular culture and folklore to intuition and hearsay to inform his work. His process prioritises the knowledge of everyday people, celebrating the unspoken truths that connect us all. Goldings work is intuitive and focuses on visceral communication, aiming to make work that draws from the valuable conversations taking place within the communities he resides in while putting those perspectives under scrutiny. Golding has exhibited internationally, with solo shows at institutions including TRAMWAY Glasgow, The Power Plant Toronto, and has been commissioned by the V&A Museum, Autograph ABP, and Film and Video Umbrella.

In this workshop designed for beginners, multimedia artist Femi Da Costa will introduce us to the basics of TouchDesigner: a visual development platform used to create real-time projects, such as installations, 3D projections, live music visuals and VR worlds. By the end of the session, you will have the necessary skills and knowledge of the software to continue exploring and experimenting on your own. Femi Da Costa is a multimedia artist whose work explores the intersection of technology and sound. Her work covers topics such as how we experience sound through our senses, movement and the flow of consciousness. Femis focus is translating these themes into captivating visual experiences, which she combines with her interest in the complex systems of the natural world. Femi frequently collaborates with music producers, venues, and other artists to bring narratives to life through dynamic and immersive visuals using creative code and TouchDesigner.

Lets Make Films introduces this hands-on, no experience needed workshop led by Marco Jonathan that breaks down the fundamentals of motion capture (MoCap) for independent filmmakers and creatives, by combining theory with practical demonstrations. The workshop is an accessible and informal way to learn about how MoCap technology functions, what tools and software are used, and the many creative ways it can be applied in film, games and virtual production. Everyone is encouraged to ask questions, experiment, and engage in creative conversation throughout this collaborative and curiosity-driven session. Marco Jonathan is a highly motivated and imaginative creative, driven by a deep belief in using storytelling to entertain, inspire, and make a meaningful impact. With a strong passion for 3D and visual effects, Marco is constantly experimenting, learning, and pushing the boundaries of whats possible, whether thats through hands-on shooting or refining his craft behind the scenes. Through this work, Helen prompts us to consider how hidden structures such as class, culture, and capitalism shape our lives, influence our actions, and contribute to feelings of alienation Gavin Gayagoy presents Doomscroll 1 , an interactive film that examines our relationship with smartphones, focusing on the sensation of doom-scrolling the compulsive consumption of digital content, often to the detriment of mental health.
