Bound together by lifelong friendship and shared experience for more than 25 years, the Fisherman’s Friends have met on the Platt (harbour) in their native Port Isaac to raise money for charity, singing the traditional songs of the sea handed down to them by their forefathers. In 2010 they signed a major record deal and their album Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends went gold as they became the first traditional folk act to land a UK top ten album. Since then they’ve been the subject of an ITV documentary, released the hit albums One and All and Proper Job and played to hundreds of thousands of fans at home and abroad. The Fisherman’s Friends have been widely credited with starting the revival of interest in shanty-style choral singing but a cornerstone of their success has been their constantly evolving and expanding repertoire.

Roger Daltrey is one of the founding fathers of the British rock boom. As frontman of the legendary band The Who, Daltrey was at the forefront of the British Invasion, with bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, taking a very British take on American music back across the Atlantic Ocean to rave reviews. Singing songs composed by The Who's lead guitarist Pete Townshend, Daltrey's powerful delivery influenced many would be vocalists to take up the microphone themselves. With highlights such as My Generation's stop start, stuttering proclamations about dying before he gets old and the emotional release of the scream at the end of Won't Get Fooled Again, coupled with the trademark flowing locks and swinging microphones, Daltrey's work as a frontman was unparalleled by any of his contemporaries.

One of the seminal figures of new wave, Adam Ant (born Stuart Leslie Goddard) had several distinct phases to his career. Initially, he explored a jagged, guitar-oriented post-punk with his group Adam and the Ants before giving way to a more pop-oriented, glam-tinged musical direction that brought him to the top of the charts. After that had run its course, he refashioned himself as a mainstream singer, which enabled him to stretch his career out for a couple of years. Once it seemed that his musical career had evaporated, he made an unexpected comeback in the early '90s as an adult alternative artist. During all this time, he recorded several great pop singles and had a surprisingly large impact on alternative rock.

The Boomtown Rats are a trailblazing rock / new wave band that emerged in the late 1970s, renowned for their raw energy, thought-provoking lyrics, and ability to reinvent themselves across decades. Formed in 1975 in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland, the band was founded by Bob Geldof (vocals), Garry Roberts (guitar), Johnnie Fingers (keyboards), Pete Briquette (bass), Gerry Cott (guitar), and Simon Crowe (drums). Former Spandau Ballet frontman and successful solo artist. Born in Islington, Tony Hadley was greatly inspired by the music of Frank Sinatra. When he was 17 years old, Hadley not only saw Ol’ Blue Eyes perform at London’s Royal Albert Hall, but also managed to get backstage and shake his hand. Not long after, Hadley co-founded and became the lead vocalist of Spandau Ballet. The members of the New Romantic band had all gone to school together. Spandau Ballet rose to prominence throughout the ’80s, having released eight top 10 UK albums and numerous top 10 singles including To Cut A Long Story Short, True, Gold, Only When You Leave and Through The Barricade.

Tommy’s unique style – he calls it simply “finger style” – is akin to playing guitar the way a pianist plays piano, using all ten fingers. Rather than using a whole band for melody, rhythm, bass, and drum parts, Tommy plays all that – and more – on one guitar. Guitar legend Chet Atkins was one of the first to inspire Emmanuel to try this “fingerpicker” style as a child. Decades later, Atkins himself became one of Emmanuel’s biggest fans. Eric Idle is an English comedian, actor, author, singer, playwright, director, and songwriter. co-creator of Monty Python on TV, stage, and five films, including The Life of Brian and The Holy Grail, which he later adapted for the stage with John Du Prez as Monty Python's Spamalot, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005, a Grammy, a Drama Desk Award, and playing for almost five years on Broadway.
