Hue & Cry

Hue & Cry

28 Mar 2026 - 31 Oct 2026

“They’ve lasted because they are brilliant” Radio 2 Brothers Patrick and Gregory Kane formed Hue and Cry in the ’80s and the duo made a huge impact with the release of their debut album Seduced and Abandoned (1987) which featured their first top ten single Labour of Love. The follow up album Remote continued the trend and produced the huge hits Looking for Linda and Violently. Albums like Stars Crash Down, Showtime and Jazz Not Jazz ensured Hue and Cry’s continued successful run through the ’90s, whilst their 2005 appearances as finalists on ITV’s primetime show Hit Me Baby One More Time, featuring their version of Beyonce’s Crazy In Love, thrust the band firmly back into the mainstream limelight. A number of successful album releases and accompanying live appearances followed which included Open Soul (2008), Xmasday (2009), Bitter Suite Again (2010), Hot Wire (2012), Remote: Major to Minor (2014), September Songs (2015), Pocketful of Stones (2017). To date Hue and Cry have sold in excess of two million records worldwide. In 2019, Hue and Cry sold out their Summer Nights at the Bandstand show at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove park within forty-eight hours and finished the year by playing live all over the UK. With the global pandemic bringing live touring to a halt during 2020/21, Hue and Cry introduced their pioneering Live from Lockdown streaming shows which were broadcast live from the band’s Glasgow based studio and viewed online by thousands of fans around the world. A collection of their favourite tracks from these shows was released as a Best of Lockdown album (2022). Hue and Cry have sold tens of thousands of concert tickets worldwide. As well as performing alongside some of the greatest artists in music history – appearing with U2, James Brown, Madonna, Al Green and Van Morrison to name but a few – the band have undertaken a multitude of their own headline tours and made numerous festival appearances. Hue and Cry were recognised by their peers when they were recently presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Scottish Music Awards. The band are currently working on a brand new album and have made a welcome return to performing in front of audiences.

The Southmartins

The Southmartins

23 Dec 2025 - 4 Jul 2026

The Southmartins are a unique tribute to the songs and sound of The Beautiful South & Housemartins. Constantly gigging since early 2010 in the UK they have built up an unbeatable reputation as a live experience. With a set of classic hits and other bits to draw upon such as Song For Whoever, Don't Marry Her, Perfect 10, Happy Hour and many more they are guaranteed to make you smile, dance and sing. Rather than merely trying to recreate or reproduce the original recordings, or even live performances of the original bands, The Southmartins have always put their own stamp on the material and have led the way in how they approach paying tribute to these classic songs. This is not simple mimicry. Having said that, lead singer Andy's voice is about as close to Paul Heaton as you could hope for without it being the man himself (who has said the band are "very good") and with a highly skilled, and lively band they inject a huge amount of energy and soul into their shows.

Rhod Gilbert & The Giant Grapefruit

He’s also a writer, actor, and presenter. He drinks lots of coffee and is ‘like that in real life’. Christmas Comedy Club #2!

13 Dec 2025 - 13 Dec 2025

Due to popular demand, we have added a second comedy club date for this Christmas! It's Christmas!! And what better way to kick start the festivities at Middlesbrough Town Hall. Our MC for the evening is Rob Thomas, since Rob took to the stage in 2010 he has quickly developed to become one of the country’s most promising up and coming comics. Rob is instantly likable as a result of his down to earth demeanor and engaging tales of his own misfortune. He is one of those yarn spinning comics who will draw you in with his shaggy dog tales, then suddenly hit you with a raft of unexpected punchlines. His funny stories always end up reducing the whole crowd to hysterics. He is also a scouser. And lovably large and larger than life! Jeff Innocent is a popular and experienced stand up comedian, actor, writer and cultural commentator. As a stand up comedian he has reached near legendary status among his peers and audience alike by staying at the top of his game for over 15 years. His unique appeal lies in the contrast between his East End ‘Geezer’ appearance and demeanor, and his educated, philosophical delivery and subject matter. Inspiring the guardian to describe him as a comedian with, ‘The body of a nightclub bouncer and the brains of a university boffin’. Al Stevenson is the sharp-witted lad from Newcastle, with “bulletproof confidence” (Stand Newcastle), his charm allows him to tear through an audience with a cheeky grin. His “relentlessly hilarious” (Carl Hutchinson) performances of his “brilliant jokes” (Jack Whitehall) have seen him go all the way to the Beat The Frog World Series Finals, be tour support for Mark Nelson, USA Kevin James Thornton and many more, and sellout the prestigious Stand Comedy Club with his debut solo show! Michael Akadiri is an multi award-winning stand up comedian and junior doctor who has been seen on the ITV2s Stand Up Sketch Show, BBCs New Comedy Award & has recently starred in the latest series of Comedy Central LIVE. His sold out debut Edinburgh Fringe 'consistently funny, occasionally dark' (Scotsman) show, No Scrubs was nominated for NextUp’s inaugural Biggest Award in Comedy. Strictly 18+ Line-ups subject to change. Not for the easily offended.

Gary Meikle - Yer Maw

Gary Meikle - Yer Maw

6 Feb 2026 - 21 Nov 2026

Gary Meikle returns to the stage with another new show which has quickly become the yearly norm for him now! Hi guys it’s me, Gary. These blurbs do my head in if I’m honest, each year I need to sit and write one out before I even know what stories I’m gonna share, well I mean I don’t have to write one I could pay something else to do it but fck that they’d just write some mundane vague crp which I can clearly do myself. At least this way you know I've written it personally. So, what's the new show about? Again, I don’t yet, but it will contain at least one ‘yer maw’ Joke, what I do know is that it’ll be another brand new 80-90 minutes of stories, opinions and observations about me, and my family as well as you all its always about people and the mad sht we do, sometimes animals but more often than not it's about people and the stupid scenarios we end up in. I wonder if that's now enough wordage to cover the minimum blurb requirement? I guess we'll see, and I’ll see you all soon maybe - oh, one last thing, my show isn’t suitable for small people, some of it might be about them, in fact it definitely will but, yeah they ain’t getting in :)
