Alternate Shadows in collaboration with Attacked by a Wok Films presents Beyond the Fray
Alternate Shadows in collaboration with Attacked by a Wok films proudly presentsBeyond the Fray- a joyful, uproarious celebration of Matthew Fray's brilliantly original comedy, brought to life on stage and screen. Matthew Fray, a gifted comedy writer from the Medway towns, left an enduring legacy with credits on ITV's The Sketch Show, Channel 4's Smack and Pony, BBC1's TV To Go, and Radio 2's The Griff Rhys Jones Show. His stage work - The Men's Group, Out to Lunch, and The Seventh Day - showcased his sharp wit and keen sense of humour. Now for the first time, a treasure trove of Matthew's classic and never-before-seen sketches will be performed by the Alternate Shadows Theatre Group - the very ensemble he once wrote for, performed with, and inspired. Thanks for the memories and for all the laughter.

Directed by Lisa Gibbons Join Lucky Eric, Ralph, Les and Judd as they take the audience through a night out at the disco in the 90s. Everyone is there: the excitable DJ, the girls, the boys and the late night video is ready to be played. But what lurks beneath the glitter and the empty beer glasses? Hilarious high energy and very physical, the play has been performed and studied throughout the World. We invite you to join us for a great night out with a banging 90s soundtrack. Just remember, 'You gotta look cute or you get the boot!' Content Warning: strong language and adult humour throughout, not suitable for under 16s. Strobe lighting used during the performance. This amateur production is performed by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.

14 May 2026 - 23 May 2026

Directed by Fiona McGahren Set in real time over the course of one afternoon, two couples sit down to discuss a fight that occurred between their two sons, which resulted in facial injuries. How can they resolve this? What starts off civil, slowly descends into carnage, resentment and rage, which clearly exposes the cracks in their relationships. Expressed with plenty of dark humour and subtext, God of Carnage lets you into their lives and shows you how adults quite often act no better than children. The duration of the play is 90 minutes, with no interval. This amateur production is performed by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd.
