Bellow Fellows 10 Year Celebration

Bellow Fellows 10 Year Celebration

13 Mar 2026 - 13 Mar 2026

We are thrilled to welcome you to our tenth anniversary concert. When Bellow Fellows started ten years ago, we wanted to create a space for men to express themselves in song. We couldn't imagine the fantastic community that would emerge out of it. Men from all over London (and some beyond) coming together to sing, sometimes for the first time since they were boys. We're delighted that some of our first members are still singing with us today, as well as all the new faces who have joined along the way. We'll be featuring some of our latest works as well as some of our past favourites. So come join us for an evening of celebration and joy as we close out our first decade and look forward to the next. Date: Friday 13th March 2026 Time: 7:00pm (doors open), 7:30pm (concert starts) Location: St John's Waterloo, Waterloo Road, London, SE1 8TY

Every Piece Tells a Story

Every Piece Tells a Story

15 Mar 2026 - 15 Mar 2026

Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra presents: Prokofiev - Lieutenant Kije Copland - Billy the kid Errollyn Wallen - Mighty River In our March concert of programmatic music, each piece tells a story. Errollyn Wallen's Mighty River was written in 2007 to mark the bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act. The composer said, It is an innate human instinct to be free just as it is for the river to rush headlong to the sea. It is as if the perpetual motion of the music, like water, like time, through its sheer momentum, comes across the cries and echoes of human hearts and voices, singing out of suffering, repentance, humility and hope. Lieutenant Kijé by Prokofiev is the story of an imaginary soldier, created by a clerical error on a list of Russian soldiers. Too afraid to admit to the error, the people around the Tsar invent an entire life for Kijé. When the Tsar finally demands to meet Kijé, a fictious funeral takes place. Copland's exciting ballet music for Billy the Kid charts the exploits of the infamous Wild West outlaw including a lively gun battle.
