What's On @ South London Theatre, The Old Fire Station

Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach. Adapted by David Wood, Music by John Trent Wallace
South London Theatre presents: Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach. Adapted by David Wood, Music by John Trent Wallace In this delightful stage adaptation, Roald Dahls classic tale is faithfully told by James himself, along with the insect characters Miss Spider, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybird, and Earthworm. Full of fun, thrills and a sprinkling of magic, James' epic adventures will be brought to life in a show for all the family. Director:Simon Gleisner Total running Time (Estimate): Approx 1 hour 45 minutes including an interval Advisories: Please arrive on time, as we are unable to allow latecomers. Recommended age: This is a family show without age restrictions - we just ask that you make sure you and whoever you bring along will be comfortable sitting through the show (it's 2 hours long with a fifteen minute interval) and don't mind singing and dancing, flashing lights and loud sound effects and a couple of nasty aunts. Unfortunately, if you have to leave during the show you won't be able to come back in. And all children must be accompanied at all times. Trigger Warnings: James and the Giant Peach was written in the 1980s and is classic Roald Dahl. In particular, it has two very nasty Aunts who behave badly and are very rude to each other (and James!) including making horrible comments about each others bodies/how each other looks. We have made sure it is only the Aunts who exhibit this behaviour, so it is clear that it is not acceptable in the year 2025. Cast: James Ed Smith Old Green Grasshopper Tom Melly Spider Hannah McCorry Centipede Tom Mathias Ladybird Lorna Reed Earthworm Dougal Patterson Plus two casts of younger actors: They are in 2 groups . Multi award winning comedian Jeff Innocent has reached legendary status among his peers and audiences alike by staying at the top of his game for over 20 years. His unique appeal lies in the contrast between his East End 'geezer appearance and demeanour, and his educated, philosophical delivery and culturally relevant subject matter. Always original, he continues to cement his position within the history of British stand up comedians with his regular performances on the UK and world live comedy circuit and has recently acquired a whole new generation of fans, through his online viral video clips. Jeff Innocent started his comedy career in the mid 90s at the age of 41 after a colourful and eventful life including a father and brothers best described as entrepreneurs, working as a window dresser in the trendy 70s world of London's Kings Rd and Carnaby St fashion shops and appearing regularly as an actor at the radical Half Moon Theatre in London's Aldgate. It was in 1996, after a gap of 25 years, that Jeff resumed his passion for performing by enrolling in a stand-up comedy course a 40th birthday gift tutored by the legendary alternative stand up pioneer Tony Allen.
