This is a mixed programme of familiar classical items by Mozart, Ravel and Brahms, mixed with some contemporary pieces. It is performed by a "Classic FM Rising Star" violinist with a prize-winning pianist who is a professor at the Royal College of Music. Mozart: Sonata K 305 Skalcottas: Sonatine No.2 Bacewicz: Stained Glass Window Ravel: Sonata in G major Lutoslawski: Subito for violin and piano Biber: Passacaglia for Solo Violin Brahms: Sonata No.3 for violin and piano British violinist Mathilde Milwidsky has been praised by the Strad's Charlotte Gardener for her "perfect intonation and beautiful shaping and colouring". She was the sole British violinist to be selected for the 2024 Queen Elizabeth Violin Competition. Richard Uttley won first prize in the British Contemporary Piano Competition in 2006 and the Young Classic Artists Trust (YCAT) International Auditions in 2011. Richard is a piano professor at the Royal College of Music, London.

Martin Kershaw (Saxophone) joins Linlithgow-born international pianist Steven Osborne for an evening of solo piano walzes and jazz items. Solo piano based around the waltz: SCHUMANN: Papillions BOULANGER: D'un Jardin Clair (from trois morceaux de piano) LIADOV: A Musical Snuffbox KREISLER: (arr Rachmaninov) Liebeslied SATIE: Gymnopedie No.3 EVANS: Waltz for Debbie EVANS (trans Osborne): I Loves You Porgy RZEWSKI: Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues With Martin Kershaw: Jazz items including an explanation of how jazz works. Steven Osborne OBE is one of Britain's most treasured musicians with an immense depth of musicality and exceptional refinement of expression across diverse repertoire. His musical awards include the Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist of the Year, two BBC Music Magazine awards and two Gramophone Awards. Martin Kershaw has been a central figure on the vibrant Scottish jazz scene for some 20 years. He is in constand demand as a performer, composer/arranger and educator.

We welcome Ethan Loch, winner of the Keyboard section of the BBC Young Musician competition in 2022. The programme of familiar classical repertoire by Haydn, Chopin, Ravel, Brahms Debussy and Liszt is followed by some of Ethan's own compositions. All are welcome for an excellent evening of piano music. Winner of the Keyboard Category of the BBC Young Musician of the Year at age 18, Ethan has performed with some of the UK's most celebrated orchestras and conductors throughout the UK. Born in 2004, Ethan was diagnosed completely blind since birth and as a toddler would be found exploring sound and music on the piano for hours. He currently studies with Professor Fali Pavri at the Royal Conservatolire of Scotland.

Katherine and Sam will play a wide-ranging programme of music for clarinet and piano. The performers are outstanding musicians, with established careers in the UK. SCHUMANN: Fantasiestucke Op.73 BRAHMS: Sonata in E Flat, Op 120 No.2 GERALDINE MUCHA: Tempo di Mazurka CHOPIN: Scherzo No.1 in B minor Op.20 MACMILLAN: From Galloway, for clarinet POULENC: Sonata for clarinet RIMSKY-KORSAKOV: Flight of the Bumblebee RACHMANINOV: Vocalise Stranger on the Shore Katherine Spencer, the newly appointed principal clarinet of the Handel and Haydn Society, is also the principal of The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Academy of Ancient Music, Gabrieli Consort and Players, The Irish Chamber Orchestra, and the City of London Sinfonia. She made her concerto debut at London's Royal Festival Hall aged 14. She has played as a soloist in all of the UK's major concert venues with orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. Sam Haywood has performed in many of the world's major concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Tonhalle in Zürich. Following his early success in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, the Royal Philharmonic Society awarded him their prestigious Isserlis award.
