Pavey Ark

Pavey Ark

12 Jun 2026 - 12 Jun 2026

Pavey Ark are cinematic indie-folk band from Yorkshire in the UK. Playing with full band and strings, they are set to play a rare intimate London show at Aces and Eights on Thursday 12th June Atmospheric vocals, strings and horns glide over finger-picked guitar, melodic bass and complex percussion. The result is a beautiful orchestral-folk sound that evades immediate comparison. Upon further listening, the band’s wide range of influences start to reveal themselves - from the laid back ’60s and ’70s’ sound of Jackson C. Frank, Rodriguez and Love through to more modern comparisons like, Nick Drake, Andrew Bird, Radiohead and Laura Marling. The band released their new album More Time, More Speed, on the 21st November 2025. The album was mixed by Paul Butler ( Michael Kiwanuka, Andrew , Teskey Brothers, The Bees). Pavey Ark also worked with composer and producer Adrian McNally (The Unthanks) who led the live string quartet studio session and co-produced and mixed three songs on the new album. Known for their sublime live shows, Pavey Ark played at SXSW Texas 2025, the Glastonbury Acoustic Stage 2022 and closed Cambridge Folk Festival (Stage 3) in 2023 - huge achievements for an independent act. The band have also supported This Is The Kit, Badly Drawn Boy, Willy Mason and Billie Marten. Pavey Ark’s debut album, Close Your Eyes and Think of Nothing received excellent reviews from UNCUT, Record Collector, Folk Radio and BBC Radio 6 Music airplay. It was chosen by the BBC Radio as one of their picks for National Album Day in 2022. The band are built around singer-songwriter Neil Thomas. UNCUT magazine described him as one of the most promising song-writers to emerge from Humberside. A claim all too clear on the new album as songs twist and turn often arriving at unexpected conclusions. Beautiful, uplifting and meticulously crafted, More Time, More Speed is an album for those who truly love to listen.

Sonny Brazil

Sonny Brazil

18 Jun 2026 - 18 Jun 2026

Sonny Brazil is a Folk singer and Squeeze Box Player from the south east of England. Raised in South East London and Brighton, Sonny dwells among the Bargee Traveller Community, living and playing music as they have for centuries on the inland waterways of England. Sonny lives entrenched in the world of english folk culture, working as a crew member on Thames Sailing Barges and living on the Canals; they are one of the founding members of the folk collective Goblin Band described by Martin Carthy as “The band we’ve been waiting for”. Sonny’s style is rhythmic and raw at times giving contrast to their sweeter more pastoral repertoire of traditional songs, reminiscent of a past and a future where community, solidarity and connection with the land run strong in people’s everyday life. Sonny’s unique style of folk performance stems from the Queer folk scene in South London. They make a point of exploring different voices in these folk songs that were largely collected under the heavy colonial blanket of the Victorian era and early 20th century. In keeping folk music alive and viewing it through a queer, anti colonial, anti capitalist lens, Sonny does their bit to carry on the living tradition in a way that sparks new energy into the old songs.
The Snakeoil Rattlers & Beth Blade

The Snakeoil Rattlers & Beth Blade

15 Jul 2026 - 15 Jul 2026

The Snakeoil Rattlers deliver a masterclass in "swampbilly," blending the heavy-duty swagger of Southern Rock with the intricate textures of Americana and bluegrass. Known as the meanest men in country music this side of the Atlantic, their sound is built on a foundation of whiskey-soaked vocals and authentic, narrative-driven songwriting. Their high-octane set explores the darker edges of life, transporting the audience to the backwaters of the American South with a raw, rootsy intensity. Beth Blade strips back the "Beautiful Disasters" for a rare solo appearance that showcases her powerhouse vocals and melodic rock roots. Channeling the spirit of classic icons like Joan Jett, she balances soaring anthems with a gritty, soul-baring performance that remains formidable even in an intimate setting. This co-headlining showcase brings together narrative depth and high-voltage energy, offering a definitive look at two titans of the underground rock and roots scene.
Edfringe Double Preview: Aaagony Aunts & All the Animals: Ranked (by Comedians)
Two Edfringe panel show previews in one glorious night! Louise Leigh, Pauline Eyre & Guests: Aaagony Aunts Leslie Gold & guests: All the Animals: Ranked (by Comedians) The panel shows: Aaagony Aunts Award-bothering comedians and Certified Fun Aunts, Louise Leigh and Pauline Eyre are bringing a brand new and "very fun" panel show to the Edinburgh Fringe. Using the World Famous Salad Spinner of Destiny, an array of kitchen utensils and you, the audience, theyll be getting into the business of their comedy friends and sorting their problems right out. Problems like annoying flatmates, fending off girlfriend's inappropriate advances, spending time with racist grandads, getting jars off lids, concealing vegetables in cakes, etc. But not that rash, probably; giant intractable world problems and concealing vegetables in racist grandads. All the Animals: Ranked (by Comedians) Everybody has opinions about animals. Some of them are funny. Were going to attempt what Charles Darwin, David Attenborough, and the Muppets have never quite managed to do: definitively rank the animals - and have a whale of a time doing it. A panel of not-quite-tame comedians battle it out to determine the ultimate list of the best (and worst) animals, with an ever-evolving leader board plus animal-themed interactive games. A funny panel-show spin on our furry, feathery, finny friends! The creatives: Louise Leigh and Pauline Eyre have considerable comic chops, having both received 4 and 5 star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe. Leslie Gold (as seen at the Comedy Store and Hackney Empire) is also the creator of the panel show podcast 101 Rules for a Better World (by Comedians). All three of them are formidable rising stars of the comedy circuit. Space is limited, get your tickets while you can! Doors 6:30pm, shows start 6:45pm, ends 9pm. Please note acts may be subject to change.

Music and Friends - with Tia Louise, Sophya & Pecadito
A night of live music with three amazing female artists! Pecadito is a Colombian-born, London-based musician whose sound carries the echoes of everywhere shes been. Mixing Latin roots with the rhythms and textures of the cities that shaped her, she tells stories through musicpersonal, poetic, and deeply human. Every song is a small confession, a pecadito, where rhythm and soul move hand in hand. Sophyais a London-based artist whose music fuses contemporary jazz with experimental soundscapes. Poetic and cinematic, her work combines commanding vocals with sparse, evolving arrangements where voice functions as both instrument and narrative. Fragility and force coexist in immersive, slow-unfolding compositions that defy fixed genre definitions. With growing recognition for their emotional clarity and depth, Sophyas music charts a distinct, uncompromising, and deeply personal artistic path. Tia Louise is an indie-folk singer-songwriter from Bournemouth, now based in London. Growing up surrounded by nature on the south coast of England, she draws inspiration from the changing seasons and the quiet everyday.
