The List

Aldwych Theatre

The Aldwych Theatre is an ornate Grade II listed Georgian theatre, built as part of the early 20th century development of the area. It made its name in the 20s and 30s with the legendary Aldwych farces, and again in the 60s and 70s when the Royal Shakespeare Company used it as its London base. Since then it's held its position as one of the major West End theatres, hosting some serious drama but mostly comedies and musicals. The nearest Tube stations are Covent Garden (Piccadilly), Holborn (Central/Piccadilly) and Charing Cross (Northern/Bakerloo), the last of which links with the surface rail. The nearest bus stops are serviced by routes 1, 4, 11, 13, 15, 68 and 98.
