DS:UK Tribute To Dire Straits

DS:UK Tribute To Dire Straits

17 Jul 2026 - 29 May 2027

1991 brought us the final Dire Straits album - On Every Street - and was commemorated by an enormous 2 year world tour that was one of their most successful to date. In On Every Street, Mark created some classic Dire Straits songs such as Calling Elvis, The Bug and On Every Street and the expanded lineup created yet another 'sound' that remained instantly recognisable as "Dire Straits". Over the past years, DS:UK have become the Dire Straits tribute act that the fans deserve - delivering the music with an attention to detail that few tribute bands strive for. The On Another Night show is DS:UK's third tour, representing the final era of Dire Straits' phenomenal career, and brings a genuine and unique experience that will bring fans the tracks they love from On Every Street, alongside the classic Dire Straits songs you love to hear. This will be DS:UK's most packed and exciting set yet... are you and your friend gonna come around?

Wokingham Choral Society's 75th Anniversary Celebration Year - 1St Concert - Stanford & Rutter
0UR AUTUMN CONCERT 2026 FEATURING THE BEAUTIFUL STANFORD MASS IN G AND THE UPLIFTING RUTTER MAGNIFICAT At WCS we will kick off our 75th Anniversary season with these 2 magnificent works that demonstrate the richness and variety of British choral music. In 1892, Stanford completed his Mass in G Major , one of the most substantial Latin choral works Britain produced in the Nineteenth Century. In 2014, it received its world premire recording, featuring the Choir of Exeter College Oxford directed by George de Voil, now the gifted Musical Director of Wokingham Choral Society. WCS will give what is believed to be only the second ever concert performance with orchestra of this opulent Mass. From a new meticulously prepared edition by George de Voil and James Speakman, the vivid colours of this tuneful and characterful masterpiece will come to life, showing such diverse influences as Schubert, Dvorak, Bruckner and Beethoven. John Rutter composed his extended setting of the Magnificat in 1990. With its colourful style and Latin American influences, it is a joyful piece in 7 movements which weaves the 15th-century English poem 'Of a Rose, a lovely Rose' around the traditional liturgical text of the Magnificat.
