The Ultimate Whisky and Live Blues Experience

Taking place in Edinburgh's intimate speakeasy space The Assembly Roxy, this is a combination gig and whisky tasting, featuring a superb whisky bar boasting a selection of premium Scottish single malts and whiskies from around the world available for you to try to your heart's content over the course of the event. The boys will be doing what what they do best as a gritty duo, both as musicians and whisky professionals, providing a thoroughly entertaining and unique show. But this time it's also a special occasion - Rhythm and Booze Records is launching a new rye whisky to be proudly served alongside what will be a stellar lineup. There are only limited spaces for this intimate and whisky-soaked event, so book now! Doors open at 6:45 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. An important note - while there will be oatcakes available to help soak up the booze, we strongly recommend getting a hearty dinner beforehand. Here's their official bio: The Rhythm and Booze Project features Felipe and Paul, a duo fusing live music and whisky through gigs, tasting events, and multimedia experiences. The project was born during a 2012 pilgrimage to the whisky capital of Islay, when Felipe and Paul played in bars and hotels in exchange for a meal, a bed, and healthy drams of whisky. Regular collaborations since then, including tours in the UK, United States, and South America, led to the creation of The Rhythm and Booze Project, which combines Felipe's and Paul's extensive background as professional touring musicians, event producers, and passionate fans of whisky in all forms. As a musical outfit, the band incorporates roots, folk, and blues music in a uniquely gritty mix of its own, blending hypnotic grooves with raucous energy and irresistible showmanship. For their whisky tasting events, Felipe and Paul merge performance, live music, and multi-sensory experiences. Past projects encompass blues and whisky tasting events for Islay's Caol Ila distillery, building the world's first Scotch whisky cask bass drum out of a Lagavulin barrel, and creating workshops that alter the taste of whisky itself using music. With five professional degrees between them, Felipe and Paul have an academic background to match. Felipe wrote his Masters degree thesis on sustainable distillation on Islay conducting field interviews after Islay's Feis Ile whisky festival, while Paul has just completed his PhD in the history of jazz drumming and the drum kit in New Orleans. Felipe is also a leading writer about all aspects of whisky for top industry publications. He is a senior contributor for Forbes.com, and writes as well for Whisky Magazine, The Whiskey Wash, and others. He is also a Keeper of the Quaich. DISCLAIMER: We'll turn away anyone with no refund who shows up drunk or not in a fit state to appreciate the music and whisky. You've been warned.
The Science Of Autism & Women: Unseen And Unheard
Autism has historically been underdiagnosed in girls and women, leaving many to grow up without the support, understanding, or resources they need. This talk is for all the nerdy girls, the loud and funny girls, the quiet gamer girls, the “Manic Pixie Dream Girls”, and all those who feel they don’t quite fit any label. In this inclusive talk, Dr Gemma Williams draws on the latest autism research and her own lived experience to shed light on what it means to be an autistic woman or girl, and why so many have flown under the radar. The Psychology Of Carl Jung With Dr Rachel Newsome
Have you ever wondered what our dreams and imagination can say about our inner psychology? Join us for an illuminating introduction to the psychology of Carl Jung and his groundbreaking ideas about the creative, healing power of the unconscious. A founding father of depth psychology, Jung was a maverick thinker, artist and visionary whose ideas were ahead of his time. His extensive studies of ancient religions and mythologies, alongside his deep dream work, brought him to the edge of sanity. Through this work, he developed the pioneering concepts of the collective unconscious, the archetypes (including the shadow and the self), synchronicity, individuation, creative self-realisation and more. In this talk, we’ll explore key Jungian concepts in relation to how Jung combined ancient Eastern wisdom with Western psychology. We’ll learn how this can be understood as a form of ‘sacred science’ reflecting the spiritual crisis of late stage capitalism and how Jung’s thought places us inside a larger reality transcending space and time. Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm - come down early to grab a good seat! Follow us on IG @seedtalks Dr Rachel Newsome is a Jungian-based writer and teacher. She holds a doctorate in applying Jungian psychoanalysis to creative writing and is the founder of Depth Writing With Dr Rachel, a holistic creative learning programme aimed at supporting transformational growth.
