Enjoy a traditional cream tea onboard one of our heritage steam trains. Guests will be served a hot cup of tea or coffee alongside their scones with cream & jam, all whilst sitting back & enjoying the journey. This dining event is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the delights of the steam railway with an added touch of indulgence! Seats are in open carriages around tables of two or four people and our onboard bar will be open for additional drinks. When you arrive at the station, please collect your boarding card from the station booking office. The train will be ready to board at 1530 and departs at 1545 north to Oldland Common. You'll next travel south to Avon Riverside, enjoying the delightful scenery of the Avon Valley, before returning to Bitton at approximately 1640. Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the carriage used for our Traditional Cream Tea, we are unable to accommodate passengers in wheelchairs. Selecting From The Menu Having selected your seats and added them to the basket, you will next be able to choose the meal suited to your your dietary requirement. Simply select the appropriate quantity of each type of meal, so that all the members of the party are catered for. Unfortunately on our Traditional Cream Tea dining service we are unable to cater for vegan diets.

In 2026 we're again offering you the chance to go on the footplate and join the crew as they take you on a full round trip of the line. On the footplate ride, you'll get to watch what's involved in operating one of our steam locomotives as it hauls the day's passenger service. In this special opportunity to access our footplate, you'll be able to see first hand how the volunteer crew get our engines moving, and experience a ride on our line like never before! Please note, whilst you'll need to be physically fit, able to climb up into the cab and be able to stand for the duration of the journey, this is not a full Driver Experience and you won't be driving the train. Important Information Footplate Rides are not a full Driver Experience and you will not be driving the train. You must be aged 18 years or over, able to stand for up to one hour, be physically fit and be capable of climbing on/off the locomotive to the ground floor level unaided. This maybe up to a 3 metre (10 feet) vertical climb in the event of an emergency evacuation. You must be able to hear and understand verbal instructions in noisy surroundings, and be able to cope with discomfort, variable temperatures, noise and vibration inherent on a locomotive footplate. The experience is limited to one person per time slot. Due to the historic nature of our locomotives, wheelchairs are not able to gain access to the footplate. On booking you will receive a booking confirmation. Please show this at the booking office on the day to exchange for your train tickets. We advise you arrive 15/20 minutes prior to departure.

Start your day with a full English breakfast on a heritage train! Spend an hour in one of our traditional carriages and enjoy a delicious breakfast on board. Whilst your train is hauled by one of our heritage engines, you will be served a glass of orange juice to accompany our hearty ‘Engine Drivers' full English breakfast. At the end of your meal, you will also be served a hot cup of tea or coffee while you sit back and enjoy the rest of your journey. When you arrive at the station, please collect your boarding card from the station booking office. The train will be ready to board at 1030 and departs at 1045 north to Oldland Common. Join us for a trip onboard one of our steam-hauled or diesel trains to make lasting memories with the whole family.  Your journey lasts fifty minutes and you'll travel both ways from Bitton Station.  First you'll head north to our station at Oldland Common.  Next you'll travel back south onto the more scenic part of your journey to our station at Avon Riverside before returning to Bitton.  At either end of the line you're welcome to disembark and watch the locomotive running round to the other end of the train. At Bitton, our station buffet and gift shop will be open throughout the day, where you can enjoy our delicious selection of hot food and drinks, as well as browsing through our shop to find a souvenir from your visit.  Why not make a day of it? Rover tickets allow you to make as many journeys as you like. Ticket Information Wheelchair Users and those with Access needs should contact the railway Booking Office on 0117 932 5538 to purchase tickets. On booking you will receive a booking confirmation.  Please show this at the booking office on the day to exchange for your train tickets.  We advise you arrive 15/20 minutes prior to departure. Online ticket sales close 2 hours before departure. Tickets can still be purchased after this time at the Booking Office prior to departure.

Join us this Father's Day to create special memories with all the family.  Enjoy a steam-hauled ride through the Avon Valley and take in the summertime views from the comfort of our vintage carriages.  Best of all, all DADS GO FREE this Father's Day, with each full paying ticket bought in advance (please see below). Your journey will start at Bitton Station, where you'll travel north to our first station at Oldland Common. Once the engine has changed ends, you'll travel south to Avon Riverside, where you can take in the scenic views of the Avon Valley countryside. The engine will then travel back up to Bitton where your journey will terminate.  At either end of the line, you're welcome to alight the train and see the engine switch ends, or even try and ‘race the train'! Back at Bitton Station, you can enjoy a range of hot and cold refreshment from our Buffet, or grab yourselves a souvenir from the gift shop. Ticket Information One Dads Go Free ticket is allowed for each full paying Adult, Concession or Child on Sunday, 21st June 2026 for ordinary travel on timetabled trains departing from Bitton Station at 10:45, 12:00, 13:15, 14:30 and 15:45. Dads Go Free tickets are only available in advance via avonvalleyrailway.org or by calling 0117 332 0435 (Option 1). They are NOT available from the booking office or buffet at Bitton Station, or on-board the train. Dads Go Free promotion cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or AVR event including (but not limited to) dining options such Bitton Belle, Cream Tea plus Footplate Rides. Dads Go Free tickets limited per train. If a train is marked ‘sold out', no more tickets are available for that particular train. Our Teddy Bear's Picnic is back for 2026! On the 27th & 28th June, all children will travel for FREE on this special weekend if they bring their Teddy Bear!  As well as enjoying a 50-minute train ride up and down our line, back at Bitton station, you can enjoy magic shows, balloon modelling and face painting and more! With everything included in the price of your ticket, this weekend promises unlimited fun for the whole family without breaking the bank.  Ticket Information When selecting your first seat all the remaining seats become highlighted around your table/compartment. Choose the different tickets types you need from the drop down lists. For any seats not required simply choose 'Empty Seat'. A minimum of 5 paid for tickets must be booked in a compartment. Wheelchair Users those with Access needs and smaller parties with SEND children who would benefit from a private compartment should contact the railway Booking Office on 0117 932 5538 to purchase tickets.
