What's On @ Band on the Wall

Transmission: The Sound of Joy Division
Devoted to recreating the atmosphere of a live Joy Division gig, Transmission emulate the sound of one of the most inventive, evocative and influential groups of their era. Joy Division were formed in the late 1970s and dissolved in 1980 after the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. The remaining members went on to form New Order and have achieved much critical and commercial success. The influence of Joy Division, however, was far reaching. They were considered the pioneering band of the post-punk movement of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Forty three years on you can relive the dark, cavernous sound of Joy Division through Transmission - the UK's number one Joy Division tribute act.

Police Dog Hogan

Police Dog Hogan

17 Apr 2026 - 5 Dec 2026

Police Dog Hogan are a high-energy and eclectic eight-piece, combining fiddle, trumpet, mandolin, drums and guitars with four-part harmonies in an exuberant and genre-defying fusing of country, pop, folk, and rocking urban bluegrass. Much-loved Guardian columnist Tim Dowling adds his banjo to the musical mix. The Sunday Times has described them as “wonderful”; the Telegraph named them one of its ‘favourite new bands”; Mark Radcliffe on Radio 2 said a “great night out was guaranteed” at their joyful shows; and veteran DJ Johnnie Walker praises their gigs as “a really good, fun time”. Eliot James (of Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Noah and the Whale, and Two Door Cinema Club fame) produced the band’s second CD, and Al Scott (Seth Lakeman, Oysterband, The Levellers, Asian Dub Foundation) oversaw the new album, ‘Wild By the Side of the Road’, which spent several weeks in the official UK Americana charts. Police Dog Hogan were one of only three UK bands invited to Nashville to perform at the prestigious Americana Music Association Awards, where DJ Bob Harris – in town for the awards – snapped them up for a recording that has become one of the most-watched YouTube videos on his “Under the Apple Tree Sessions” channel.
Soft Machine

Soft Machine

7 Apr 2026 - 25 Nov 2026

Their work, from their earliest performances as a psychedelic band who were contemporaries of, and shared stages with, Syd Barrett’s Pink Floyd and the Jimi Hendrix Experience, all the way to being one of Europe’s best known ‘fusion’ groups, has influenced several generations of bands, and continues to be name-checked by today’s hip experimentalists. Whilst the line-up of Soft Machine may have changed many times since the heady days of the late 1960’s, the band’s spirit of musical adventure, and the ease with which it freely avoids being pigeon holed and can move from powerful progressive jazz fusion to atmospheric psychedelia to free improvised jazz-rock to ambient loop music continues to make it both unique and totally contemporary.
The Bros Landreth

The Bros Landreth

11 Apr 2026 - 25 Apr 2026

Before they were The Bros. Landreth, Joey and Dave were only looking for a good excuse to spend a little more time together. They had spent their respective early years backing up other artists and touring the world as hired musicians until one particularly long and challenging tour prompted Joey to call his older brother with a simple proposal. When I get home, let's sit down and make some noise together would be the call that would be the turning point seeing them focus on their own roots rock sound that went on to be celebrated on their acclaimed debut album, Let It Lie. Originally released in their hometown of Winnipeg in 2013, Let It Lie was re-released in 2015 after signing a record deal with Nashville-based Slate Creek Records. The album received widespread acclaim, won multiple awards including a JUNO, and propelled the band to play over 400 tour dates around the world. A Rolling Stone review praised the band's quiet storm of slide guitar solos, blue notes, three part harmonies. Lifelong musical hero, Bonnie Raitt, was equally impressed after catching the band's set, saying "I haven't liked a band as much as The Bros. Landreth in a long time. To hear this kind of funky, southern style rock played with such originality and soul will knock you out." Then, the band went on a hiatus. A break afforded Joey Landreth the opportunity release and extensively tour his debut solo album Whiskey in 2017, furthering his reputation for being a first-rate guitar slinger, songwriter, and performer in his own right. Joey's booming solo career might have delayed the timeline for the brothers, yet they never stopped writing songs that would eventually be recorded for their long awaited, follow-up release. The time off that we took between touring Let It Lie and coming back together to make this next album was really difficult. Dave says. It was tough, but we needed to do it. Being away from each other gave us some really valuable perspective. It let us realize just how important and deeply satisfying it is for us to make music together and that's something that we wont soon forget. Teaming up in studio with drummer Ryan Voth, guitarist Ariel Posen, and longtime producer Murray Pulver, the soon to be released album is an exciting evolution of the band's sound, honed by thousands of hours on stage and filtered through the lens of the last many years on the road. Weve got hundreds and hundreds of shows and thousands and thousands of miles under our belts. This next record has a confidence that we didnt have - couldnt have with the first. The Bros. Landreth's journey took some unexpected turns, but ultimately reaffirmed two brother's earnest desire to make honest music together. Slated for release fall of 2019, the follow up album is called 87, a nod to the real beginning of the band; the year they became brothers.

Daoud

Daoud

26 Apr 2026 - 26 Apr 2026

The problem child of jazz who refuses to play by jazz's rules, daoud imagines a music driven by a sense of inadequacy - one that disrupts conventions without seeking approval, resonating equally with curious newcomers and seasoned purists. His work is charged with a persistent tension: between playfulness and gravity, chaos and tenderness, irony and sincerity. With ok, his upcoming album to be released by ACT in 2025, he delivers a personal manifesto shaped by collapse and repetition - but also by the perseverance required to begin again. Around the music, the artist crafts a raw visual universe, marked as much by provocation as by youthful abandon, a return to childhood not for comfort, but to unearth contradictions. Fragility, impermanence, satire - his aesthetic embraces the flaw rather than concealing it.

The Sheepdogs

The Sheepdogs

11 Nov 2026 - 16 Dec 2026

For a new album that The Sheepdogs didn't initially set out to make, Changing Colours is a stunning achievement. Proud purveyors of guitar-driven modern-day retro rock, the triple Juno Award-winning Saskatoon-based quintet has expanded its sound on Changing Colours to encompass more styles and hues to enhance the Sheepdogs' trademark beef-and-boogie twin-axe riffs, hooks, shuffles and long-haired aesthetic. 'We identify strongly with rock 'n roll, but there's definitely some branching out,' says Ewan Currie, The Sheepdogs' singer, guitarist, songwriter and occasional and yes, you're reading this correctly clarinetist. 'The sounds we use on this there's more keyboards featuring Shamus and more stringed instruments. It's still rock 'n roll but there are more colours.' It's also great, passionate music born out of spontaneity: first resonating in the 17-song album's euphoric opener Nobody and continuing to flavour such invigorating numbers as the electrifying Saturday Night and the driving I've Got A Hole Where My Heart Should Be, the record's infectious first single. But The Sheepdogs haven't only stretched their sonic palate: they've also expanded stylistically, tastefully embracing other genres as well. There's the country-lite feel of Let It Roll, the Stax-soul aura of the mid-tempo anthem I Ain't Cool that features trombone and the resplendent Latin-rock vibe that fuels The Big Nowhere. This is a 14+ show. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

19 Apr 2026 - 23 Apr 2026

Conceived in a cabin overlooking the Delaware River in upstate New York, Son Littles latest album, Like Neptune, trades in the existential dread permeating previous work for unbridled joy and self-acceptance. In this verdant space of freedom, Son Little transmutes the chronic pain of self-doubt into a beautiful opus about overcoming generational trauma, decorating the altar of the primordial blues and elevating the labour of healing to high art. Noticeably confident from the opening note, Son Little prioritizes his signature rasp as the chief instrument of every song on a 12-track meditation on the mortal struggle to achieve inner peace. Doling out a pearl-strung collection of successive epiphanies he engages each of his re-invigorated parts, empowering them to finally speak freely, with him as the vessel.

Digging up their roots and decanting to a new studio home in Glasgow, they longed for a change. Forming in Kilmarnock, Scotland, in early 2010, Fatherson immediately captured hearts with their raw, honest alt-rock sound. Inspired by Scottish stoicism as much as their own personal turmoil, debut album I Am An Island and its 2016 follow-up Open Book were masterclasses in full-throttle rock songwriting, and garnered support from (and tours alongside) their north-of-the-border brethren in Biffy Clyro, Frightened Rabbit, Idlewild and Twin Atlantic, as well as further runs alongside the likes of Kings Of Leon, Augustines, Enter Shikari and more.

Hayes Carll & Corb Lund

Hayes Carll & Corb Lund

13 Apr 2026 - 17 Apr 2026

Hayes Carll isn’t preaching or teaching. He’s not interested in telling the rest of us what to do or think. But he is charting out a personal guide for his life, quieting the noise, and sitting with his real voice - the one that’s candid, consistent, and often inconvenient. Carll is more than two decades into a celebrated career. Praise from places such as Pitchfork and the New York Times––the latter of which yoked Carll’s ability to tackle tough issues with wry humor to Bob Dylan––punctuate a resume that includes Americana Music Awards and a Grammy nomination. His songs aren’t safe, but many of Nashville’s stars have recorded them, including Kenny Chesney, Lee Ann Womack, and Brothers Osborne. As a solo recording artist, Carll has long-since established himself as one of Americana’s most-played––and most loved––voices. Hejira: Celebrating Joni Mitchell

Hejira: Celebrating Joni Mitchell

3 Apr 2026 - 13 Nov 2026

Hejira is a 7-piece band set up to celebrate and honour the masterpiece works of Joni Mitchell, mostly from the late ‘70s. Having released the albums The Hissing of Summer Lawns, Hejira, Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter and Mingus (regarded as her ‘jazz period’), Joni then toured briefly with a band formed from the crème de la crème of contemporaneous jazz musicians (Metheny, Mays, Brecker, Pastorius and Alias). The tour was recorded, producing the outstanding live album, ‘Shadows And Light’; it is from this album that the band Hejira is drawing the body of its repertoire. Comprising highly experienced jazz musicians, this band is fronted by the brilliant Hattie Whitehead who not only has - in her own way - assimilated the poise, power and beauty of Joni’s vocals, but also plays guitar with Joni’s stylistic mannerisms. Expect an evening of the ‘great’ songs from Mitchell’s back catalogue, such as Amelia, Woodstock, A Case Of You, Song For Sharon, Edith And The Kingpin etc.!

Migraine Mowgli - Welcome To The Jungle
Migraine Mowgli is a Manchester-born rapper whose pen bleeds introspection, honesty, and hunger. His music moves between raw vulnerability and quiet conviction, blending sharp lyricism with reflective energy rooted in lived experience rather than hype. Drawing from family, identity, fatherhood, and the pressure of growth, Mowgli’s work explores contradiction - confidence and doubt, ambition and fatigue - finding clarity in the mess. Each track feels less like performance and more like documentation. His upcoming EP Welcome to the Jungle captures that ethos fully: a project about perfection in imperfection, navigating chaos, nostalgia, and self-belief while refusing to smooth the edges. It’s a statement of survival, growth, and choosing truth over polish. This is music for listeners who value substance, self-awareness, and bars that linger. Presented by Band on the Wall. 9 Jun 2026 - 11 Jun 2026

Bruno Berle, the young songwriter and poet originally hailing from Maceió, the capital of Brazil's Alagoas state, crafts songs that are simple, direct, and full of tender nuance. Bruno Berle's music lives between two worlds a traditional Brazilian folk talent steeped in history, and a contemporary, dreamy electronic pop; the result is songwriting that's genre-bending, intentional, iconoclastic and consuming, spacious and sinewy and singular, a striking reflection of its composer while leaving space for the listener to settle in.

One of the brightest prospects around in British music at the moment, the group – comprised of Angus Rogers, Sam Abbo, Fin Abbo, Jed Morgans, Jazz Pope & Jack Banjo Courtney – blend a dizzying array of influences to create a dark and thundering dish hitherto unknown to the unwitting public, already winning admirers from across the spectrum for their infectious, horn-driven music which fizzes at the intersection of psych and soul.
