Bex Marshall

Bex Marshall

31 Jul 2025 - 31 Jul 2025

Bex Marshallís unique style of guitar playing is a combined technique of slide, blues rock, ragtime and roots picking. Her voice is a powerful melting pot of an old black woman's heartache and southern rock soul. Bex is a writer of distinction and notability, she pushes the boundaries of blues, her songs have been called timeless with touches of genius, performing solo or touring with her 7 piece band, she is nothing short of a musical tornado. A Devonshire lass now residing in London, Bex is the product of two very different families, one blue blooded landed gentry, the other Irish Romany. As a child at family gatherings her uncles would always play and stand her on the table to sing, at 11 years old she was given a 1963 Gibson Hummingbird by her Uncle David and started playing, she got hooked on instrumentals and classical guitar standards which stretched her fingers and gave her a great basis for her own music to develop, from flamenco, ragtime, country, rock blues and roots where she is in her element. Bex honed her own style of guitar playing in front of a london roots blues audience, fearlessly gathering momentum in her playing and overcoming the fear of solo performance. She is a musical adventuress, described in the world press with comparisons to Mark Knoffler, Joan Armatrading, JJ Cale, Derek Trucks, Janis Joplin to Bonnie Raitt and Led Zep jamming in an everglade moonshine joint. Bex Marshall has three records to her name. Her most recent Fortuna has garnered critical acclaim from several international magazine reviews. Vintage Guitar Magazine Aug 24 edition has a double feature promoting her new record and Bex has been invited back in Sept 2024 to BBC Radio 2 for a live band recording at the iconic Maida Vale studios and will be interviewed by the singer/ DJ Cerys Matthews.
