FRAGILE: Moths, Life Systems & Us Exhibition
This exhibition presents the findings of artist Jan Hendry’s project investigating moth species across Scotland. Since April 2024, Jan has recorded more than 200 different moth species at 26 locations throughout the country. Each record has been submitted to iRecord for verification and inclusion in the national biodiversity database. Employing traditional fine art and craft methodologies such as fine-brush watercolour and rag rugging, Jan translates empirical field data into visual and material forms, poetically rendering the ecological narratives of her research into visual treasures, sharing the stories of the moths she encountered. The exhibition also includes recent work by invited wildlife photographer Susan Falconer. Jan Hendry Originally studying geography at university, Jan worked as a countryside ranger in Fife for many years, where she raised her family. She later fulfilled a long-held ambition to attend art college, studying Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. Since 2003, she has worked as a practising artist alongside a range of part-time roles, including contracts with countryside and heritage organisations. For many years, Jan has aspired to develop a project that brings together her passion for visual research and ecology, creating meaningful ways to share this work. This project is the realisation of that ambition. FRAGILE: Moths, Life Systems and Us is an art and ecology project funded by the Scottish Government through Creative Scotland.

Bob Sumner

Bob Sumner

31 May 2026 - 18 Jun 2026

Singer-songwriter Bob Sumner cites the musically progressive sensibilities of his heroes when talking about the spirit of his new album, Some Place to Rest Easy. They were always creating something new, something different, he says of idols like George Jones, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings. With that ideology in mind, Sumner set about creating an album that takes as much inspiration from the audio production of Randy Travis as it does the lyrical soul of Big Thiefs Adrianne Lenkera melding of eras, sounds, concepts, and stylings thats informed by the past, but never bound by it. Sumners music has always been about more than a single sound, influence, instrumental, or clever line . I always want people to feel something, Sumner explains. If I heard that this album helped somebody that was feeling down, even just by feeling some other emotion for a little while, that's the number one thing for me. Sumner has provided opening duties for the likes of Colter Wall, Willie Watson, Kelsey Waldon, Corb Lund, and J.P. Harris. In Texas, while on a support tour he was invited onstage by new friend and admirer Hayes Carll, and at a showcase in Nashville, Sumner planted his flag at the world-famous Bluebird Cafe, fulfilling a lifelong dream in the process.
