Soak up the atmosphere of our award-winning heritage railway through the sights, sounds and smells of yesteryear. Included is an afternoon tea of freshly made sandwiches, cakes and scones with tea or coffee. There is an option to purchase alcoholic drinks on board the train on the day. Vegetarian and Gluten Free are available, please let us know if you require this at time of booking. Unfortunately we cannot provide a Vegan option at this time. There is an option for a Child's Afternoon Tea for age 2-15 and under 16s must be accompanied by and adult. The afternoon tea is served at your seat in a shared carriage. You will not be asked to share a table with anyone outwith your party. If adding on Museum of Scottish Railway tickets, please allow time (1.5 h advised) before your train to visit and ensure to be at the Station in plenty of time for your train departure.Last admission to the Museum is 4pm and there will not be time to visit after your train. IMPORTANT NOTE: Unfortunately at this time, our accessible carriage is not in service and we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs. We do not have a date for it to be back in service.
1960s Heritage DMU Days with panoramic views
Enjoy stunning panoramic views of the railway and scenery including the drivers view ahead from our 1960s Diesel Multiple Unit on the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway. On most Saturdays the DMU runs on the yellow timetable, featuring two (part) round trips Bo'ness - Birkhill - Bo'ness at 11:35 and 13:50: June - 14th & 28th July - 5th, 19th & 26th August - 2nd & 23rd September - 6th, 13th & 20th To celebrate our first summer season of Friday DMU days we've got a great offer for July and August! KIDS GO FREE FRIDAYS: in July & August see the DMU running the lilac timetable doing three (full) round trips Bo'ness - Manuel - Bo'ness at 10:30, 12:30 & 14:30: July - 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th August - 1st, 15th, 22nd, & 29th Our Gift shop, Station Buffet and adjacent Museum of Scottish Railways (entrance to Museum for a child accompanied by an adult ticket holder will also be free!) will be open on Fridays. If you purchase a Steam Train ticket for a Saturday this will entitle you to a complimentary return journey to Birkhill on 1960s DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) when running on the same day. (subject to availability). Kids Go Free Fridays: One child aged 2-15 can travel free with every fare paying adult, i.e., if there are two adults, travelling, two children can travel free, children otherwise travel at standard fares. Please note that you must still add a free child ticket to your basket if booking in advance online to help us manage capacity.
