Bristol Old Vic

For nearly 250 years, the Bristol Old Vic has been at the centre of the Bristol theatre world, staging everything from tried-and-true classics to brand new, experimental productions. Shaparak Khorsandi: Scatterbrain

Shaparak Khorsandi: Scatterbrain

22 May 2025 - 10 Aug 2025

Having reassessed her life through the prism of an ADHD diagnosis in last year's funny and moving memoir, one of Britain's most beloved and most scatterbrained stand-ups lets you back into her mind (warning: it's cluttered in there). Among other things, this show will be a love-letter to letter-writing, a trip back through her early years as a comic and woman-about-town, and a whirlwind tour of a chaotic, hilarious brain. “She has plenty to say, and says it with pointedness and potency” Guardian “I laughed all the way through and left inspired” Funny Women

But nowadays it's not so simple. Didn't America go completely bananas? Didn't he get too old for dreaming? And when Hollywood comes calling, does Kieran actually sound American after all? Join one of Telegraphs 50 funniest comedians of the 21st Century as he explores how a scared world feels about the USA and impersonates a bunch of old prospectors and former Presidents.
The Chaos That Has Been and Will No Doubt Return
Following its award-winning sold-out debut at Edinburgh Fringe, The Chaos That Has Been and Will No Doubt Return embarks on a thrilling UK tour. Set against the backdrop of a post 2008 financial crash, where Luton is gutted by austerity, this compelling production from Chalk Line Theatre tells the story of two best friends holding tight to joy in a world that is built to suffocate them. Winner of Best New Writing (Besties Awards – Fest & Skinny Magazine 2024), Best Individual Performance (Olatunji Ayofe, Theatre Weekly) and a finalist for The List Awards 2024, this powerful production is a lyrical tapestry of violence, defiance, and hope. Think Steven Berkoff’s East crossed with a grimy, anti-lyrical Under Milkwood - Lyn Gardner, The Stage.
