British Music Experience

4 Jun 2025 - 12 Jul 2025

Housed in the former Cunard first-class passenger terminal and situated on Liverpool's Pier Head, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the British Music Experience tells the story of British Music through 600 stage outfits, instruments, and artefacts. Whatever age you are, and whatever you are into, there is something here for you. There are outfits worn by artists from Freddie Mercury and Dusty Springfield, to the Spice Girls and Adam Ant and musical instruments played by some of the world's most renowned artists from Noel Gallagher to the Sex Pistols. It even has handwritten song lyrics from Adele, the original statues from the Brits, and the Apple Corp front door from Saville Row. After the main event browse an exclusive range of gifts, clothing, books and memorabilia from the Merch Store and you can rest those dancing feet with a selection of delicious snacks and meals in the Star Café.
Harvey Goldsmith in Conversation - Exhibition Launch Event
An evening in conversation with the legendary producer and promoter of the two largest music events in the world ever; Live Aid and Live 8, Harvey Goldsmith CBE. Back in 1985, Harvey was recruited to help turn Bob Geldof’s concert vision into reality but preparations could only begin in earnest when he returned from accompanying Wham! on their groundbreaking trip to China. Harvey says, "I didn't really get a chance to say no. Bob arrived in my office and basically said, 'We're doing this.' It started from there." Hear Harvey talk about the preparation, promotion and management of Live Aid and Live 8, as well as the legacy work of the Live Aid trust, in this special conversation event which launches Live Aid 40 at the BME. As well as Live Aid and Live 8, Harvey has produced managed and promoted shows with most of the world’s major artists and has most recently worked with Jools Holland, Andrea Bocelli and Hans Zimmer. Harvey has received numerous awards including, CBE, Chevalier des Artes et Lettres from the French Minister of Culture and the Diamond Award for his contribution to The Arts. In July 2012, Harvey received an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from the University of Brighton. A ticket to the launch event gives exclusive access to the Live Aid 40: Music, Power & Unity (other museum galleries closed).
