Although founded in memory of the late great Irish bluesman Rory Gallagher, the Band of Friends is way more than a tribute act – rather a celebration and rekindling of Gallagher’s passionate musical spirit. Featuring his longtime bassist Gerry McAvoy and drummer Ted McKenna, with Dutch guitarist and singer Marcel Scherpenzeel they combine classic Gallagher tracks with original songs inspired by his legacy.

Chantel then pursued further education and left with a First Class Honours degree in Popular Music and a coveted prize, the college’s musician of the year award. ​ Chantel released her highly anticipated second album, Lose Control, in October 2015 on her independent boutique label Tis Rock Music, this being the follow up to her critically acclaimed 2011 debut album, Like No Other.

Michael Shannon & Jason Narducy And Friends announce a 2025 U.S. tour celebrating the 40th anniversary of R.E.M.’s iconic 1985 album, Fables of the Reconstruction. After the pair’s acclaimed, sold out run honoring R.E.M.’s famed debut album Murmur, which saw the four original members of R.E.M. come together for the first time in 17 years at the tour’s Athens stop, the Fables tour will take Shannon & Narducy to nearly three times as many cities across the country, including shows in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, and more, along with two nights in R.E.M.’s hometown of Athens, GA. Kicking off Friday, Feb. 14th at Pappy & Harriets in Pioneertown, CA, the tour will see Shannon & Narducy—alongside Jon Wurster (drums), John Stirratt (bass), Dag Juhlin (guitar), and Vijay Tellis-Nayak (keyboards)—playing Fables of the Reconstruction in full each night in addition to many other R.E.M. songs. Shannon, an actor/musician known best for his film/series/stage work, and Narducy (Bob Mould Band, Superchunk, Sunny Day Real Estate, Verböten, Split Single) have been collaborating for the last eleven years, playing entire albums by some of their favorite artists such as Neil Young, The Modern Lovers, Bob Dylan, The Smiths, and T. Since the release of their last CD, 'Into Your Heart' Hothouse Flowers have been playing steadily around Ireland, America, Great Britain, Japan and Europe. Their shows last between two and three hours depending on the level of fever in the room. Most recently their sound has been enhanced and reinvigorated by the return of Peter O’Toole on bass, bouzouki and vocals. Drumming with the band these last ten years is Dave Clarke. Dave has been a drummer in Dublin since the beginning. His commitment to the beat is mesmerizing. His style has been a force in the direction of Hothouse Flowers today. Also playing with the band these days is Dorset man Martin Brunsden on double bass and backing vocals. His musicality adds yet another dimension to the ever evolving sound of the band. There is an unpredictable energy in the band that harkens back to the 'Risk' days. They call upon their grand repertoire to create a show that is unique to the time and place. No two shows are the same. Improvisation can come at any point and allow the men express their brightest and their darkest influences. A song inherited by Fiachna describing the blow inflicted upon a community and a family due to drowning. This moment and moments like these set the Flowers apart from almost any other band of their time and trade. They are carriers of Culture and all of what that entails. Hothouse Flowers came out of tough times. They played the streets and brought the streets to the stages of the world. Individually Fiachna and Liam are enjoying a broadening of their horizons. Fiachna has been producing and presenting radio and television programmes and working as a composer of music for television. Liam has been collaborating with the Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre Company. Hayseed Dixie began in the summer of 2000 in the fertile valley of Deer Lick Holler, deep in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee USA. In this area which was completely isolated from outside cultural and musical influence, the boys grew up playing the traditional music of their forefathers on banjo, fiddle, mandolin, acoustic guitar and acoustic bass. All of this changed abruptly one afternoon when a stranger crashed his car into a stately old oak tree on a particularly dangerous curve, which the locals refer to as the Devil's Elbow. Sadly, the stranger expired, but his legacy lives on! As the boys searched through the wreckage looking for identification, they discovered several vinyl AC/DC albums. After playing these back on an old Edison 78rpm Victrola, everyone agreed that the songs were right fine country music . . . and that the Lost Highway of Brother Hank Williams and this Highway To Hell of AC/DC were indeed the exact same damn road! And the rest is now enshrined in musical history. Most recently, Hayseed Dixie are exploring the inspired catalogue of the stadium rock of the 1970's and 1980's. This interest began during a 2014 Spring tour of Germany, in which the band heard the song Eye of the Tiger 6 different times on 6 different German radio stations in a single day while driving between Dortmund and Frankfurt. As the seed is planted, so the tree shall grow - this very quote appears on the inner sleeve of the 1980 album Escape by Journey. How very true indeed.

Jon Gomm, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire in the UK, is an acoustic singer-songwriter with a revolutionary virtuoso guitar style, where he uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines and twisting melodies all at the same time. The emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting, and his original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead. Brown Horse make twangy and thoughtful indie rock, delicately arranged, but unafraid of building a yowling wall of guitars, accordion, banjo and pedal steel. Distorted, teary-eyed and country-tinged, this is music for long lonely drives and late, late nights in strange places.

Cardinals start as a joke between two sixteen-year-olds in a sleepy fishing town on the southern coast of Ireland. A whole joke-taken-to-heart later and their difference is marked by an early immersion in Cork’s live music scene, ‘we wanted to juxtapose ourselves,’ says frontman Euan Manning, ‘we have pop-leaning influences and didn’t want to shy away from that.’ Now barely twenty, the six-piece are next in an Irish line changing the sound of alternative music. Blending Ireland’s musical beating heart with a swell of contemporary frisson, the six-piece are tied to making music they enjoy whilst being perpetually kept outside of their comfort zone. Superchunk + Oblivians (14+ under 16's with and adult) Superchunk After the shocking, and for many, demoralizing result of the 2016 election, “I didn’t buy the silver lining some were promoting that ‘well, at least art and music will be great now!’,” says Superchunk co-founder and frontman Mac McCaughan. “Obviously, any sane person would gladly trade four to eight years of terrible music for not having our country dismantled to satisfy the whims of a vengeful child and his enablers.” That said, good music and art still have a lot to say, and the urgency of current events gave Mac, Laura, Jim, and Jon the momentum to make something new sooner than later. “It would be strange to be in a band, at least our band, and make a record that completely ignored the surrounding circumstances that we live in and that our kids are going to grow up in.” Enter What a Time to Be Alive, Superchunk’s first album in over four years. AGMP Concerts presents Flamin' groovies 'Shake Some Action' 50th anniversary tour. "The Flamin' Groovies may be the greatest rock and roll band to ever come out of San Francisco." Rolling Stone Magazine Flamin' Groovies announce a handful of dates this autumn to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their iconic Power Pop song (and album) 'Shake Some Action'. Originally formed in San Francisco by Cyril Jordan and Roy Loney in 1965, Flamin' Groovies released their first three seminal albums 'Supersnazz', 'Flamingo', and 'Teenage Head' before Roy Loney left the group in 1971. Chris Wilson replaced Loney and the band went on release their now classic albums betweern 1976-1979 - 'Shake Some Action', 'Flamin' Groovies Now' and 'Jumpin' In The Night'. In 1976, Flamin' Groovies headlined the Roundhouse in London with support from Ramones and The Stranglers. This legendary concert has been cited as one of the influences behind the punk rock scene. Acid Box Promotions & Stay Sick team up to bring the legendary Flamin' Groovies! Flamin' Groovies The Flamin' Groovies story goes all the way back to 1965 when the band began as the Chosen Few in their hometown of San Francisco, California. After a name change and a self-released 10-inch album called Sneakers, which sold amazingly well, the band caught the attention of Columbia who sent them into the studio with a big budget to record their first real album, Supersnazz, on the Epic label. Their next two albums were on Kama Sutra (home of their heroes, The Lovin' Spoonful): Flamingo, and the revered classic Teenage Head. Lead singer Roy Loney left the band right after that and lead guitarist Cyril Jordan moved the group to England with Chris Wilson (formerly of Loose Gravel) taking over as front man. They continued their style of straight ahead guitar driven rock 'n' roll but this time with a more 60s rather than 50s influence. A few singles on United Artists, recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales with Dave Edmunds producing, followed in the early 70s. In 1976 they signed to Sire Records, who released three true gems of power pop: Shake Some Action, Flamin' Groovies Now, and Jumpin' In The Night. Another lineup change ensued, with Wilson moving to England and joining the Barracudas. The Groovies continued on through the 80s and into the early 90s touring Australia and Europe, putting out a fine but overlooked album called Rock Juice and then finally calling it quits. Jordan formed a new band called Magic Christian. The band reunited in 2013, and toured and recorded for the past six years, they've played throughout the USA, including multiple tours of the East Coast, West Coast, and Midwest, a dozen shows in the San Francisco Bay Area, several highly successful tours of Europe, and repeated visits to Japan. In 2016, they celebrated their 50th anniversary, and in 2017, they released a new album of all original material, Fantastic Plastic, which ranks amongst their finest. + special guests

Dead Bob is the solo incarnation of John Wright, drummer of long time and apparently legendary, but now retired, Canadian punk band No Means No (NMN). Wright has spent 50 years drumming, 45 years songwriting, 30 years touring, three years helping robots play punk rock, 30 years brewing, and a lifetime playing music in more bands than you can count on one hand. Currently practicing drums, with one album released and a 2nd due imminently, Wright is not planning on slowing down any time soon. The material on "Life Like spans decades and there's lots more in the vault. The album was recorded and produced by Wright in the wilds of British Columbia and while he primarily wrote and performed it himself, he can't take all of the credit, having engaged the help of several friends including Byron Slack (Invasives), Kristy Lee Audette (Rong), Ford Pier (Ford Pier and the Vengeance Trio, DOA, Roots Round up, Junior Gone Wild, Rheostatics), Selina Martin, his son Aidan Wright, as well as two old collaborations with his brother Rob in the writer's chair. As might be expected, the songs roll out cohesively but defy the cookie cutter pigeon holes, hence "Genre" is a tough one to convey but one thing that is not unclear is it is not to be listened to quietly! We aim to make sure you hear it all good and loud! His new solo project One Leg One Eye sees him taking a fresh approach to musical arrangement culminating in a sound that is more rooted in the raw aesthetics of second wave black metal than contemporary folk. The project was born across 2021, a period in which Lynch was able to enjoy the freedom of experimenting and explorating different paths of sound design without expectation or pressure. Leenalchi is an alternative seven-piece band comprised of four vocalists, two bassists, and a drummer. Formed in 2019, they have become widely known through collaborations with various brands and advertisements. Spunge is a ska punk band from Tewkesbury, England. Through many years of touring, Spunge have toured with or played alongside a number of UK bands; and several American bands such as Green Day, Dropkick Murphys and Reel Big Fish; and been supported on a UK tour by Bowling for Soup; the latter of whom contributed backing vocals to the song "Centerfold" on the That Should Cover It! album.

London-based Lauren Auder is a British-French singer-songwriter, record producer and composer who stitches together elements of classical, experimental, emo, and rap music into her own strange and hypnotic form of orchestral pop music. With the likes of Celeste, Vegyn, Caroline Polachek, Mura Masa, Boris and Jeshi all on her credits list, as well as composing music for Virgil Abloh's Louis Vuitton campaigns, and modelling for Marni, Mui Mui, Gucci and Celine, Auder has cemented herself as an auteur across the worlds of music and fashion.

Born where the dust bowl never died, the West-Texas raised trio that is Shallowater - Blake Skipper (guitar/vocals), Tristan Kelly (bass) and Ryan Faulkenberry (drums) - combine slowcore, post-hardcore, country, and Americana elements that defy genre labels. Durham, North Carolina singer and guitarist Jake Xerxes Fussell (yes, that’s his real middle name, after Georgia potter D.X. Gordy) grew up in Columbus, Georgia, son of Fred C. Fussell, a folklorist, curator, and photographer who hails from across the river in Phenix City, Alabama (once known as “The Wickedest City in America” for its rampant vice, corruption, and crime.) Fred’s fieldwork took him, often with young Jake in tow, across the Southeast documenting traditional vernacular culture, which included recording blues and old-time musicians with fellow folklorists and recordists George Mitchell and Art Rosenbaum (which led Jake to music) and collaborating with American Indian artists (which led Jake eventually to his graduate research on Choctaw fiddlers.) As a teenager Jake began playing and studying with elder musicians in the Chattahoochee Valley, apprenticing with Piedmont blues legend Precious Bryant, with whom he toured and recorded, and riding wild with Alabama bluesman, black rodeo rider, rye whiskey distiller, and master dowser George Daniel. He joined a Phenix City country band who were students of Jimmie Tarlton of Darby and Tarlton; he accompanied Etta Baker in North Carolina; he moved to Berkeley, where he hung with genius documentary filmmaker Les Blank and learned from Haight folkies like Will Scarlett (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna, Brownie McGhee) and cult fingerstyle guitarist Steve Mann; he appeared on A Prairie Home Companion. He did a whole lot of listening, gradually honing his prodigious guitar skills, singing, and repertoire. In 2005 he moved to Oxford, Mississippi, where he enrolled in the Southern Studies department at Ole Miss, recorded and toured with Rev. John Wilkins, and in 2014, began recording his first solo album. Jake’s 2015 self-titled debut record, produced by and featuring William Tyler, transmutes ten arcane folk and blues tunes into vibey cosmic laments and crooked riverine rambles. Collaborating with Tyler and engineer Mark Nevers in Nashville was a conscious decision to depart cloistered trad scenes and sonics for broader, more oblique horizons. Tyler, a guitar virtuoso known for his own compositions that untether and reframe traditional six-string forms and techniques, helmed the push boat in inimitable fashion, enlisting crack(ed) Nashville session vets Chris Scruggs (lap steel, bass, mandolin: Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Marty Stuart), Brian Kotzur (drums: Silver Jews), and Hoot Hester (fiddle; Bill Monroe, Ray Charles) to crew. In 2017 Fussell followed his celebrated self-titled debut with a moving new album of Natural Questions in the form of transmogrified folk/blues koans. This time these radiant ancient tunes tone several shades darker while amplifying their absurdist humour, illuminating our national, and psychic, predicaments. What in the Natural World features art by iconic painter Roger Brown and contributions from three notable Nathans—Nathan Bowles (Steve Gunn), Nathan Salsburg (Alan Lomax Archive), and Nathan Golub (Mountain Goats)—as well as Joan Shelley and Casey Toll (Mt. Moriah). On Out of Sight, his third and most finely wrought album yet, guitarist, singer, and master interpreter Fussell is joined for the first time by a full band featuring Nathan Bowles (drums), Casey Toll (bass), Nathan Golub (pedal steel), Libby Rodenbough (violin, vocals), and James Anthony Wallace (piano, organ). Febuary is a female-fronted screamo band from Las Vegas, NV, formed in April 2023. Known for their raw intensity and emotionally charged performances, the band blends piercing vulnerability with chaotic energy. Hope & Social are a band who do things a little bit differently. They wear blue jackets and play mind-blowing, balls-to-the-floor, anything-for-a-laugh, much-more-for-a-tear, heart-on-your-sleeve, foot-on-your-monitor gigs. They count BBC Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe and BBC Radio 1’s Greg James as fans and describe themselves as a 'Yorkshire E-Street Band meets Arcade Fire meets The Faces meets Dexy’s Midnight Runners meets Prefab Sprout at a party.'

Describing J’cuuzi as a band is at the very least inaccurate, or worse: incorrect. While they deliver electrifying, borderline acrobatic live performances of high octane, glitchy songs that modulate between serrated post punk guitar and pulsing electro beats, there is a shocking theatricality to them that the word “band” lacks the range to capture. The members wear handmade couture, with bulbous anime-esque proportions and insectile features sewn into drag silhouettes. They often perform while stacked on top of each other, or hoisted over each other’s heads. Their stage is set like a cheap studio apartment: a spinning blue egg chair and a stack of guitar amps sit on either side of a bedazzled ironing board, from which a spinning disco ball hangs. Since their inception in February 2024, J’cuuzi’s ferocity has earned them opening slots for acts like Viagra Boys, Stereolab, Tune-Yards, Shannon and the Clams, Upchuck, Snooper, and Warmduscher; and landed them on the cover of The Austin Chronicle, as KUTX’s Artist Of The Month, and with nominations for “Best New Act”, “Best Music Video”, and “Best Rock Band” in the Austin Music Awards. In July 2025 the group self-released their debut EP SLUDGEcontent, along with a drone-shot music video featuring the lead single performed live from the back of a moving box truck. Top Leeds world music promoter DJ Lubi hosts a big autumn Brazilian music show at Brudenell Social Club on Friday 2nd October 2026. Two great UK Brazilian music bands plus a traditional community samba jam session. Headliners are Gustavo Andrade & The Brasukas, undisputedly the best Brazilian band in the north of England. Led by Sao Paulo saxophonist/percussionist Gustavo Andrade, they perform the full spectrum of Brazilian music - Samba, MPB (Música Popular Brasileiro), Samba Rock, Axé, Forró, Frevo, Brazilian soul/disco and even urban Brazilian beats of Baile Funk. They play classic Brazilian music by artists such as Leci Brandao, Seu Jorge, Sergio Mendes, Jorge Ben, Ivete Sangalo, Tim Maia, Sonia Santos, Tom Jobim, Gilberto Gil, Ed Motta, Alcione and Djavan. For the last three years, their annual Brazilian Carnival tour dates across the country have seen them sell out shows at Blues Kitchen Manchester, Peggy's Skylight Nottingham, Brudenell Leeds, Cobalt Studios Newcastle, The Fox & Firkin London, Band On The Wall Manchester, and The Jazz Bar Edinburgh. Last February they sold out Belgrave Music Hall Leeds in mid February for Brazil Carnival, and then three weeks later, brought 350 people to Brudenell for a last minute show for a cancelled gig. Proof that they have a great local following now in Leeds. Support band is Banda Zuêra, led by Newcastle master percussionist Nik Alevroyiannis, band leader/percussionist and director of the longtime Geordie samba school DrumDin. They play Samba Reggae, Axé and Baile Funk, a mix of covers and originals. Before they take to the stage, there will be a community samba jam in the middle of the dancefloor - called a "samba de roda" in Brazil - featuring musicians from both bands playing popular samba and pagode tunes. As the singer in I Am Kloot from 1999 to 2014, John Bramwell achieved a Mercury Prize nomination for 2010’s The Sky At Night, a Top 10 chart position for 2013’s Let It All In, numerous UK and European tours and a triumphant farewell at the Queen Elizabeth Hall with an orchestra in 2014. Now, as a solo artist, Bramwell travels a very different path, a path that criss-crosses the length and breadth of the UK with a humble agenda of taking his heart-warming songs to the stage and enjoying another moment in time with his devoted fans.

GA-20 clearly is on to something big. It’s a movement, a new traditional blues revival. The dynamic, throwback blues trio are disciples of the place where traditional blues, country and rock ‘n’ roll intersect. “We make records that we would want to listen to,” says guitarist Matt Stubbs. “It’s our take on the song-based traditional electric blues we love.” Stubbs, guitarist/vocalist Pat Faherty, and drummer Tim Carman have been at the forefront of this traditional blues revival since they first formed in 2018. It’s no wonder they skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard Blues Chart. According to Stubbs, “Since we started the band we’ve focused on the story, the melody, and on creating a mood. Playing live as much as we do, we’re finding more and more that people are discovering how cool it all is. Traditional country, soul and funk music have all had these massive recent revivals, but traditional blues so far has not.” With their new Colemine album, Crackdown, and an intensive tour schedule, that’s all about to change. On Crackdown, GA-20’s third full-length release, the band creates an unvarnished, ramshackle blues that is at once traditional and refreshingly modern. Expanding on their previous releases (2019’s Lonely Soul and 2021’s Try It…You Might Like It! GA-20 Does Hound Dog Taylor) GA-20 finds inspiration on the edges of the genre, where early electric blues first converged with country and rock ‘n’ roll. Born out of an impromptu post-pub jam session in Margate, the 5-piece group Pigeon swoops onto the scene with their blistering debut EP Yagana. As the tracks cross effortlessly between Afro-disco, grunge, no wave and jazz, the cohesive symbiotic relationship of the band members is obvious from the start. The powerful vocals of Guinean singer Falle Nioke are complemented by a wealth of talent from Graham Godfrey on drums, Steve Pringle on keys, Tom Dream on guitar and Josh Ludlow on bass. Having moved to the UK from West Africa in 2018, Falle Nioke has recently been in the spotlight with EPs heavily supported by indie radio and BBC 6 Music playlisters. On Yagana, he continues to sing in a multitude of languages, but this time shifts towards a more organic musical direction, showcasing his incredible versatility as a vocalist. This new path can be attributed to the pedigree of the rest of the group – veteran musicians Steve Pringle and Graham Godfrey are key members of Michael Kiwanuka’s band, the latter also performing with Little Simz, Cleo Sol and SAULT, among others. Furthermore, Tom Dream and Josh Ludlow are electronic artists in their own right – with a number of artistic projects in the works, as well as having performed together as ambient duo Soma World. Both used to play in metal and grunge bands in earlier years, an influence which has made its way into Pigeon’s distinctive sound. As a teenager, Nioke would train his voice by the great river Rio Nunez in Boké, among the remnants of the slave trade, pathways and crumbling buildings being swallowed up by the forest. While most Western teenagers grew up with traditional pets, Nioke disclosed to his band members that his closest animal friend in West Africa was the pigeon – and so the name of the group was chosen.

The Skids formed in 1977 in their hometown of Dunfermline, Scotland by Richard Jobson, Stuart Adamson, Bill Simpson & Tom Kellichan. After releasing an independent single the band was played by John Peel, supported The Clash in concert and then were signed to Virgin Records in 1978. Their first singles were Sweet Surburbia, The Saints are Coming and Into the Valley the latter reaching the UK Top Ten in early 1979. Their seminal debut album Scared to Dance came out in 1979 which was quickly followed by two chart singles Masquerade and Working for the Yankee Dollar. Both singles were taken from the Bill Nelson produced second album Days in Europa. The album also featured new member Rusty Egan of Rich Kids & Visage fame after the departure of Tom Kellichan. The band released two more albums The Absolute Game (1980) and Joy (1981) before splitting. The current Skids line up sees the lineup stripped back to an explosive 4 piece with Richard Jobson, Peter Byrchmore (Membranes), Hernandez (Drums) & Connor Whyte (Guitar). In 1980, Kirk Brandon formed Theatre of Hate from the ashes of heralded punk band The Pack. Joining Kirk on vocals were notable punk musicians Stan Stammers and Luke Rendall, along with old school friend, Steve Guthrie and Canadian born John Boy Lennard, who revolutionised the bands sound with his haunting sax lines. Theatre Of Hates debut double-A-side single, Legion/Original Sin, topped the independent chart in 1980, and Westworld, their debut album, produced by Mick Jones from The Clash and released in 1982, held the number one position for 21 weeks. The single taken from the album, Do You Believe In The West- world? has become an anthem and is still widely played in clubs and on international radio, as well as featuring on numerous compilation albums. Theatre Of Hate imploded in 1982, with Kirk taking Stan forward to form Spear Of Destiny, but the band has resurfaced over the years to play some very special shows across the UK, Europe and the USA. The band now have a settled line up of Kirk Brandon, Stan Stammers, Chris Bell & Clive Osborne who astound their loyal fanbase with high-octane live shows featuring new songs and classics from their back catalogue.

Leeds jazz/soul/global beats promoter DJ Lubi hosts a special live show at Brudenell Social Club on Saturday 3rd October. A rare live performance by cult Leeds Ethio-jazz band The Sorcerers, only their second in the UK since their formation back in 2014. Although they've released four critically acclaimed albums since then on the UK's top analogue music label ATA Records, championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson (BBC 6 Music) and Jamie Cullum (Radio 2), they rarely play live. With a mini-tour of Poland and Sweden in mid-late October 2026, they're doing a couple of exclusive warm-up shows in the UK before they go. Just two - one in London and one in Leeds, covering the north of England. The Sorcerers are the Leeds-based instrumental outfit channeling the golden age of Ethio-jazz through a cinematic, groove-driven lens. Inspired by the hypnotic sounds of Addis Ababa’s 1960s and 70s jazz underground, the band fuse layered melodies, swirling textures and deep rhythmic interplay into a sound that feels timeless yet unmistakably contemporary. Described as “one of the most innovative groups in Ethio-jazz today” (DistritoJazz), The Sorcerers craft immersive instrumental journeys that move between cosmic library funk, spiritual jazz and transportive soundtrack textures. Formed in Leeds and rooted in a deep appreciation for Ethiopian jazz and soundtrack culture, The Sorcerers have steadily built a reputation as one of the UK’s leading exponents of contemporary Ethio-jazz. A British folk-rock group whose music walks a line between acoustic traditionalism and a contemporary embrace of electronics, Matthew and the Atlas were founded by singer and songwriter Matt Hegarty. Hailing from Aldershot in the Rushmoor district of Hampshire, England, Hegarty taught himself to play guitar when he was 15 years old, and he soon joined a band that specialized in heavy alternative rock such as System of a Down and Smashing Pumpkins. Hegarty was writing songs from the start, but began taking the process more seriously when he discovered the work of singer/songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, and Jeff Buckley, as well as contemporary acts such as Iron & Wine and Sufjan Stevens. Moving in a more folk-oriented direction, Hegarty picked up the acoustic guitar and the banjo and started playing solo acoustic gigs. While playing a show in Woking, he got to know the musicians who booked the show, pianist Lindsay West and multi-instrumentalist Dave Millar, and with them, he formed the first lineup of Matthew and the Atlas. The group's often shifting lineup became regulars at London's Notting Hill Arts Club, and they were recognized as part of the new folk movement in the U.K.

Two prominent DIY/indie-rock bands co-headlining shows across the UK.

Nick Hakim is an American singer, songwriter, and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born in Washington, D.C., to a Peruvian father and a Chilean mother, he is widely recognized for creating a dazed, psychedelic blend of R&B, soul, and folk.

When you lose someone you love, you don't just lose them once; you lose them in every moment you're reminded they aren't with you: in the drive-thru line, at the bar, or in the home you shared. You bury their body, sure, but living with the grief becomes its own perpetual "laying to rest" ritual. In his second full-length album, Losin', Colin Miller - the multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Asheville, North Carolina - looks deep into the shuttered places heartbreak stirs inside us all. Losin' is the follow-up to Miller's much-praised release Haw Creek, where listeners were ushered into his home and place of inspiration: the community of Haw Creek located in East Asheville, North Carolina. His house and studio was owned by Gary King, who Miller describes as a father figure to him during his high school, college, and early adult life. He rented Gary's house for thirteen years and took after the property, mowing the untended tobacco fields and creating music while Gary grew old next door and the abandoned cars he collected for years sunk into the woods behind his house. In his early life, Gary was a truck driver, the owner of King Automotive, and a member of Street-Tiques Car Club. As his health began to decline, Miller adopted a caretaker role which meant going to the main house where Gary lived to give him haircuts, watch NASCAR races, bring groceries, and supervise him as he insisted on smoking cigarettes close to his oxygen tank. On July 8th of 2022, Gary passed away and his obituary mentions Miller in a long list of family and special friends. Gary was family - a support net, a lighthouse, and always just a call away as Colin navigated early adulthood relationships and fears. Miller stayed in the house for two years after Gary passed away, still mowing the yard on the hand-me-down mower, grilling with friends on the front porch, and writing these songs. He knew it would eventually sell but dreamed of buying the land to save it along with some of the memories he accumulated. Yet, he knew this place was fleeting. People came by now and then to buy things from the family - his tractor, his truck, his tools - and Colin bought powerball tickets and scratch-offs to try to win enough to buy the home. In the spring of 2024 the inevitable came, and the property was sold, likely to be torn down for development. Colin and the others that lived on the land and grew close with Gary relocated and tried to move on. Losin' is the story of grief's impact on the psyche. You can't help but note the biographical moments in "Porchlight" and "Cadillac", arguably the most pop-forward songs on the album that highlight Miller's strong narrative voice and knack for catchy hooks. Some of the album's most beautiful lines are tucked between liminal lyric thoughts: "You got your shadow, / I got mine," Miller sings in from a place of meditation and introspection. In "Cadillac", verses come like postcards of memories layered behind a crunchy guitar riff: "NASCAR crash on the big screen / Shirtless in the July heat" and "Turn your lazy eye / Put me in the brights." Before the pedal steel guitar whines one more time, Miller shows us the funeral ride: "In the blood-black tinted window Cadillac / It's a good day at the wreck-yard / It's a bad day for my heart." From the pit of grief, Miller brings forward "Has Been", "Four Wheeler", and "Little Devil". These songs all embody a type of lyrical minimalism accompanied by ambient echoed instrumentation. It's like he lets the swelling soundscapes take over when he doesn't have much to say. But in "Lost Again," Miller gets back on the microphone to unabashedly plead for some relief: "I don't need another Christmas morning / I don't need another birthday picture cake / I just need you here for a second." Here, he's strong and not afraid to bare himself in all of his hurt: "So excuse me for looking like I lost my best friend." From the start, Miller acknowledges that living inside of this grief is not an option forever. In "Birdhouse", the first track on the nine-song album, he sings, "If I stay here, I will die in silence here." Fittingly and to starve off the swells of loneliness, Miller partners with Alex Farrar at Drop of Sun Studio and enlists his best friends and support systems to play on the record: Jake Lenderman (MJ Lenderman / Wednesday) offers drums and lead lines, Xandy Chelmis (MJ Lenderman / Wednesday) provides the pedal steel, and Ethan Baechtold (MJ Lenderman / Wednesday) on the bass and keys. As much as Losin' is a record about grief, it's also a celebration of life, complete with collaboration from some of Miller's best friends still above ground. "I Need a Friend" and "Thunder Road" are the record's best examples of the unique cocktail Miller brings to music today. He is at his sharpest when he lets his songwriting, pop hooks, and ambient influence blend together to tell stories. On Losin', these stories are as much observable and open as they are close-cutting and personal. How fitting that the record, inspired by the car lover, Gary King, bookends with a beautiful tribute to both him and Springsteen. In "Thunder Road", Miller sings on the final verse, "I'm bad to be your one and only / Living junior / Lay right next to your snow angel forever." In an album that is fraught with desperation, there are notable moments of wake and resurrection which compliment the heavy emotional swells we feel as listeners. So, listen and take in the times when you have been visited by those who have moved on. Hold the objects they left you in your hands in the sunlight. Visit the places you went together. Carousel, Mark Scott’s fifth album as villagerrr, glides from slowcore to shoegaze, from log-cabin folk to the accelerated bliss of rock tailor-made for an empty freeway. The boldest and most delicate album to date from the Ohio songwriter, Carousel is a sweeping exploration of what it means to try to make sincere art in a hyperexposed and constricting age, where Scott’s big, midwestern songs smolder with a desire to find enduring meaning in an era rife with commodification. Piecing the music together over the course of two years, Scott let the collaborative spirit of his previous record flourish. 2024’s Tear Your Heart Out, sparked tours with Real Estate, Greg Freeman and Momma, a new label deal with Winspear and recent deluxe reissue, bringing in widening circles of listeners and collaborators. Carousel features a melange of Scott’s rising folk and indie rock peers, like Boone Patrello of Teethe, h. pruz and Carolina Chauffe of Hemlock, and was mixed by Scott after listening back to rough drafts on long drives or on runs. With Scott’s keen ear for both particulate detail and expansive landscape, listening to villagerrr can feel like peering into prairie grass to see what's crawling there, then standing up suddenly to witness the splendor of an oncoming storm. Carousel harbors a lot of healthy skepticism about the world we're in now, but it also holds up proof that just laying down your guard and reaching out to other people can spark creatively bountiful relationships-and set the foundation for a life that's deeply, meaningfully livable.

Extra-terrestrial joy-mongers Henge have been delighting audiences in the UK and Europe since they landed on Planet Earth. Their scintillating live performances earned them ‘Best Live Act’ at the Independent Festival Awards and they have since cemented their reputation with two acclaimed albums, numerous tours and regular main-stage festival appearances. Their music escapes definition but occupies a space between rave and prog rock that nobody knew existed. It is energetic, subversive and invigoratingly playful, jovially going ‘where no one has gone before’. Ultimately, Henge are spreading a message of hope which leaves audiences feeling amused and uplifted in equal measures.

Post-hardcore band from Michigan. La Dispute (formed in 2004) is an American progressive post-hardcore rock band hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the U.S. Formed of cousins Jordan Dreyer on vocals and Brad Vander Lugt on drums, La Dispute invited guitarists Kevin Whittemore and Derek Sterenberg, and bassist Adam Kool to complete the line-up. The band’s earliest performances came around the local area, largely in people’s front rooms and at the Division Avenue Arts Collective (local arts centre) in Downtown Grand Rapids. La Dispute released their debut EP “Vancouver” in 2006 marking the departure of Chad Sternberg who was replaced by his older brother Derek. The material was the only release La Dispute would make through Friction Records and the group didn’t consider themselves a serious band until the arrival of Adam Vass and departure of Derek Sternberg and Adam Kool.

Two decades into their existence, Elder remain an anomaly in the underground rock scene-a rare band with the ability to absorb and shed influences from a myriad of genres without falling into pastiche or losing their own identity. Their new record Through Zero is a stronger affirmation of a commitment to pushing boundaries in the world of heavy rock and cements the group’s status as leaders of the pack in heavy psychedelic rock. Elder has long since mastered crushing riffs, melodic jaunts, progressive patterns, hypnotic grooves and ethereal atmosphere along their path of music-making in the past twenty years. On Through Zero, Elder takes these years of experience and forms possibly their most immediate and engaging record to date, while allowing seeds from outside the sphere of rock music to take root and bloom within their progressive framework. Listeners will find familiar elements of new textures, sequences, and sounds alongside Elder’s iconic take on heavy rock. As always, every spin reveals new details. Over the years, the band has gained a guitarist, lost a drummer, relocated (mostly) from the States to Germany, played hundreds of shows from small clubs to arenas across the world and released six full-length albums, four EPs and two live records. Though this pedigree isn’t a requirement for anything, the twists and turns along the group’s winding road to today might explain the group’s refusal to stagnate.
