Alastair Savage and Friends Leading Scots fiddle exponent, Alastair Savage returns to the beautiful setting of the Canongate Kirk with his unique celebration of the cherished Scots fiddle tradition. Alongside him a stellar cast of the country's finest musicians, including Euan Drysdale (guitar/piano), Iain Crawford (double bass), Bronte Hudnott (flute, whistle) and Chris Gibb (border pipes). J S Bach’s six organ trio sonatas, ebullient and unique in their difficulty and musical perfection, played in two concerts by David Goodenough on the sublime Frobenius Opus 1000 organ in Canongate Kirk on the Royal Mile. These sonatas require the hands to play independent melodic lines on separate keyboards, whilst the feet play the basso continuo. Hear these masterpieces of the organ repertory in the inspiring surroundings of Canongate Kirk. None

Robert Crawford and Christine De Luca The winners of the competition will be announced and invited to read their poems alongside two celebrated Scottish poets. Robert Crawford is the author of the newly published Old World, his ninth collection of poems, and Shetlander Christine De Luca was Edinburgh's Makar (poet laureate) from 2014 to 2017. Sacred Arts Festival Music at Canongate Kirk – Young Composers Competition Recital
Principal Adjudicator: Paul Mealor LVO Compositions by the winners of the 2025 Sacred Music Scottish young composers competition will be performed by the Sacred Arts Festival Singers, director Calum Robertson. The recital includes additional music by Paul Mealor LVO, principal adjudicator of the competition and celebrated royal composer, who will talk about composing sacred music and comment on both the winning and the highly commended pieces. Sacred Arts Festival Music at Canongate Kirk – La Serenissima: Vivaldi in Venice
Howe Street Ensemble Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) was employed as Maestro di Capella at the Ospedale Della Pieta in the great mercantile city of Venice. The strikingly simple interior of Edinburgh’s historic Canongate Kirk provides the Howe Street Ensemble, directed by Les Shankland, with a fine acoustic in which to sing some of Vivaldi’s most exquisite pieces. The programme includes the famous Gloria in D major, as well as Lauda Jerusalem, and the Vesper Psalm Beatus Vir. None
