The Human League

26 Jun 2025 - 2 Aug 2025

The Human League are a British New Wave band first formed in 1977 and, after a change in line up, achieved huge popularity in the 1980s. They have continued recording and performing through the 1990s, 2000s and today. The Human League are so credible it's incredible. In fact, they're probably more highly regarded now than they were in 1981 when they released their landmark album Dare! They're used to everyone from Madonna to Moby, Pet Shop Boys to Robbie Williams, citing them as an influence. But they're about more than esoteric infiltration there has been mainstream penetration, too, commensurate with a band who gave us the greatest ever Christmas Number 1 single with 1981/2's 'Dont You Want Me', who have had four Top 10 albums and eight Top 10 singles in the UK as well as two US Number 1 singles and sold 20 million records worldwide. Then there are the 'L' girls, the new generation of synth-driven female pop artists, who have got in on the League adoring act: La Roux is a known admirer of the electro pioneers, while Little Boots is such a fan she requested Philip Oakeys input on her debut album. Even Lady Gaga professed to be a devotee when she met them. Not surprisingly for a group who were famously described by David Bowie in 1979 as "the sound of the future", and indeed the group was once called The Future, The Human League have never been about resting on their laurels or relying on past glories to see them through. The Human League's unique quality of apartness is notable. "We're peculiar," says Susan Ann Sulley, utterly unabashed. "People think pop music is X Factor and S Club 7 and we're still hankering after a Roxy-Bowie-Donna Summer-Chic version of pop. We don't fit in. People don't quite appreciate how strange we are." Over the years, the Human League has been sampled and covered by various artists including George Michael and Robbie Williams. The band has been a huge influence for many electro-pop acts including early Depeche Mode, Madonna, Moby, and countless others.

Madness

13 Jul 2025 - 20 Dec 2025

Nutty ska-revivalists and 80s pop titans led by the inimitable Suggs. Madness may have been at the forefront of the late ’70s ska revival, but the band quickly moved beyond the constraints of two-tone. By the time the ’80s were in full swing, their embrace of everything from Motown to pure pop had made them one of the biggest British bands of their time. Madness’s earliest days were as ska band The Invaders, formed in 1976 by Lee Thompson, Mike Barson and Chris Foreman. With the addition of Graham McPherson (aka Suggs), Mark Bedford, Dan Woodgate and Chas Smith, the band changed their name to Morris And The Minors before finally settling on Madness in 1978.
Bastille

Bastille

5 Nov 2025 - 18 Nov 2025

Founded as a solo project by singer-songwriter Dan Smith, Bastille took root in London in 2010. After arriving home from university and having nothing much to do, his mum came across a flyer for drum lessons. The teacher turned out to be drummer Chris “Woody” Wood who agreed to join Smith at some gigs. The pair soon decided to bring keyboardist Kyle Simmons and bassist Will Farquarson on board. Their name came from Bastille Day, which not only marks the start of the French Revolution but also happens to be Smith’s birthday.

The Hives

The Hives

24 Nov 2025 - 29 Nov 2025

Formed in the small industrial town of Fagersta, Sweden in 1993, The Hives, then in their early teens, were saved from boredom and despair by Mr. Randy Fitzsimmons. He came to them with the idea to start a musical group based on everything he and the band found exciting. In the year 1999, the Hives have a new bag of tricks and a handful of Fitzsimmons originals. They know exactly what to do - record a record so good the world can't ignore it. They release Veni Vidi Vicious and nothing is ever the same. Rave reviews, more touring and that steadily growing cult following that can no longer fit into the clubs they play. A full year and a half of sold out shows later... Cue big time UK industry guy and all round music fan Alan McGee (Oasis, Primal Scream, Creation Records) sees the Hives on German TV and decides that this is important. He has the band put together a form of greatest hits for his Poptones label. Your New Favourite Band, as the result is dubbed, catches a sleeping England by surprise. Rock music that is exciting and dangerous not really being the toast of the town lately. Cue 'Rock is back!' headlines in newspapers and on TV. "We always knew the world would catch on, we just had to wait them in", as the band themselves say. Cue hits "Hate To Say I Told You So" and "Main Offender" and things are drastically different. People in the UK once again connect rock bands with showmanship, excitement and an actual good time. Your new favourite band? Indeed.

Loyle Carner

Loyle Carner

Loyle Carner is a legend. He delivers his rhymes with an intentional, poetic flow, buffered by warm jazzy production that recalls '90s acid-jazz hip-hop. He made his breakthrough debut in the late 2010s with the Mercury Prize-nominated Yesterday's Gone and just keeps getting better. Not Waving, But Drowning is so good. Come see him live, he's great.
Haim

Haim

25 Oct 2025 - 26 Oct 2025

Californian sisters HAIM have been cultivating their soft indie rock sound and celebrating their sunny San Fernando Valley roots for more than a decade. Often compared to Fleetwood Mac and Wilson Phillips, the trio has an innate ability to craft soulful, timeless pop music. Born and raised in Southern California, Este, Danielle and Alana Haim grew up in a musical family. Having learned multiple instruments from an early age, they performed with their parents, Mordechai and Donna, as Rockinhaim. More a fun family activity than a serious band, Rockinhaim played songs like Brown Eyed Girl, Mustang Sally and Proud Mary at charity events and even in a deli where they were paid in matzah ball soup. For a short time in 2005, elder siblings Este and Danielle joined the all-girl pop band Valli Girls, but by 2007 the Haim sisters were writing songs together and performing without their parents. They booked their first show as HAIM at a clown museum. Their debut album, Days Are Gone, came out in 2013. Widely praised, it boasts a bright and breezy collection of songs – from the titular track to Falling and If I Could Change Your Mind – mixing SoCal dreaminess with defiance and reckless abandon. In the years that followed the sisters supported, collaborated and developed friendships with artists like Stevie Nicks, Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift. In 2017 HAIM released their sophomore album Something To Tell You, which has a bittersweet edge lyrically while balancing elements of soft rock and R&B. The album’s opening track, Want You Back, became a huge hit, which was made even more popular by the cool video they filmed singing, dancing and strutting down LA’s iconic Ventura Boulevard. To promote Something To Tell You, HAIM set off in 2018 on their Sister Sister Sister headlining concert tour which included a UK leg. The sister act returned in June 2020 with their third studio album, Women In Music Pt. III. Showcasing their sophisticated musicality, the songs are embedded with everything from hip hop to funk and rock. In addition the album contains three bonus tracks – Summer Girl, Now I’m In It and the stripped back, tear-inducing ballad Hallelujah that weaves together three stories of strong sisterly love.
