Run Remedy: "Beautiful... really special." Guy Garvey, BBC 6 Music "Dreamy... a moment of calm." Craig Charles, BBC 6 Music "Intimacy cloaked in the paranoia of a closeted teen." Under the Radar Run Remedy is Robin Koob ex-evangelical violin nerd turned alt-indie sad girl with a sense of humor. Born in Jersey, forged in church choirs and string quartets, she now stomps the streets of Manchester, writing songs that are part shoegaze, part diary entry, part stand-up set. Her music swerves from grief to giggles without warning covering everything from religious trauma to secret crushes and awkward family dinners. Its heartfelt, catchy, and just unhinged enough to make your therapist concerned. Xtian Skate Night - an album of an evangelical escapee and rainbow kiddo...on skates.

Singadelica

Singadelica

13 Sept 2025 - 13 Sept 2025

We are having a 90s daytime sing-along party and YOU are invited! Welcome to Singadelica - we're bottling the feel-good rush of a communal sing-along. The kind of thing that only happens at gigs, the pub karaoke, and your kitchen at 3 in the morning (and yes, questionable harmonies are encouraged). Our first event will take you straight back to the 90s, so if your loneliness is killing you, join us. (No scrubs, please!). Proceedings will be led by our host, Mike Drop - Singadelicas resident ringmaster and crowd conductor. Mike isnt just here to keep the party buzzing - hes here to orchestrate it, create sing-offs, showdowns, and generally ensure youre far too busy having fun to notice your dignity slipping away. Join fellow shower singers, karaoke kings, and carpool crooners in a chorus of joyous, judgement-free singing where the only rule is to let loose and belt out your favourite anthems. (Side effects may include waving arms in the air and accidentally starting the conga line). No auditions, no pressure, just a room full of adults letting loose to classic sing-along anthems. Think of it as karaokes cooler, less awkward cousin: no solos, no stage fright, just everyone singing their hearts out, fuelled by nostalgia, laughter, and shameless joy. The lyrics will be on a big screen and you'll sing along to the original tracks. Why Youll Love It: All Together Now: The whole crowd sings as one - no judgment, no divas, just pure, collective joy. Epic Song List: Expect classic 90s anthems and bangers that you can't help but sing along to - our setlist will be stacked with the songs you secretly (or not-so-secretly) love. Every ticket sold raises money for Key Changes - the mental health charity that helps people through music (more info here: keychanges.org.uk) Feel-Good Vibes: Expect an electric host, banter, games and interactivity, and a warm welcome where everyones part of the band. ️ ️Perfect for Groups: Bring your mates, your partner, or come solo and leave with new friendsSingadelica is all about community. ️Zero Pressure: Cant sing or fancy yourself as the next Adele? Both work! This is the place to embrace it. Early finish: Get the bus home in time for tea (unless you decide to go out-out) FAQs: Do I need to know the words? Nope! Well have lyrics on screen - no excuses. Is this karaoke? Nope! Its a mass sing-along. No solos, no sign-ups, just everyone singing together. Can I bring friends? Absolutely. The more, the merrier (and louder). Can I bring my cat? Only if it knows all the lyrics to 'More Than Words' What if Im shy? Singadelica is built for you. No pressure, just good times. Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp in Manchester
The brainchild of Geneva-based Vincent Bertholet, founded in 2006, Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp is a perpetually evolving orchestra, loosely modelled on the great 20th-century African groups like Tout Puissant Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou and tipping its hat to revolutionary French artist Marcel Duchamp. New album Ventre Unique their sixth, and the successor to 2021s acclaimed Were Ok But Were Lost Anyway is as exuberant as it is emotionally fraught with a dream amalgam of folk, krautrock, post-punk and African rhythms that feels both uncluttered and beautifully organic. The album will be released on Bongo Joe Records (Vincent Bertholet co-founded the label with Cyril Yeterian), with band and label both sharing a collective vision that was forged from Genevas punk history and squat scene. It finds them once again exploring contemporary anxieties and setting them to music that balances fat, loping grooves built around simple loops written by Bertholet sparkling marimba, strident horns and strings with dissonance and angular guitar riffs. The beautiful sleeve art comes courtesy of French painter Dove Perspicacius. The recording of Ventre Unique took place over ten days in a studio near Paris, Studio Midilive in Villetaneuse, and was overseen by Johannes Buff who mixed Were Ok But Were Lost Anyway. The orchestra was comprised of an international cast of 12 musicians including many OTPMD regulars: Frenchman Gilles Poizat on bugle, lead vocalist Liz Moscarola, two marimba players (Aïda Diop and Elena Beder), two drummers (Gabriel Valtchev and Guillaume Lantonnet), guitarists (Romane Millet and Titi), a trombonist (Gif), a viola-player (Thomas Malnati-Levier), a cellist (Naomi Mabanda) and Bertholet on double bass. Every one of the musicians is a singer too, contributing to the glorious mass of vocals that gives OTPMD songs their emotional resonance and ritualistic power. They also worked with new vocalists: Mara Krastina (who will be more involved with the group in future) from Swiss band Massicot on Smiling Like A Flower and François Marry from French group Frànçois and the Atlas Mountains you can hear the latters distinctively lilting tone on Tout Haut. Following the release of Were Ok But Were Lost Anyway also on Swiss label Bongo Joe, the group a travelling party of 14 people, including two sound engineers - crossed numerous borders themselves, playing around 150 shows and touring in territories theyd never visited before: Canada, USA, the Balkans, Greece. Whereas Were Ok But Were Lost Anyways vision was of a world falling apart (it was written during the Covid pandemic), Ventre Uniques seems to be one of people working out what they have in common. Coagule opens with the line Cest assez inédit come forme de tristesse/lextinction de lespèce (Its a rather novel form of sadness/the extinction of the species.) Miraculously, the group are able to tackle themes like these in a spirit of generosity, inspiring people to come together and dance not to forget their troubles, but to forge a new commonality. As Bertholet says of the albums title, It comes from a sentence I sing in Coagule. Pour le moment, on coagule en un ventre unique, on sagglomère autour dun rêve commun (which translates as for the moment, we're coagulating into a single womb, coalescing around a common dream.). The idea is that were all the same, with all our differences. Were one, coming from Pachamama, also known as Mother Earth. Saying that, I feel its a bit cheesy, but its an important idea. The groups political outlook and vision of radical collectivity was forged in Genevas punk past and its squat scene, the spirit of which lives on in the Les Disques de Bongo Joe label and record shop. Bertholet who is also a member of of minimal trance-pop duo Hyperculte - helped set up Bongo Joe along with Cyril Cyrils Cyril Yeterian, yet is no longer involved, day to day, with the label. One of the triumphs of OTPMD is their longevity and the manner in which the groups sound and spirit is maintained, regardless of personnel. This idea of changing line-ups is very important in the process of writing the music according to Bertholet. I always try to propose very simple ideas, which dont require too much rehearsal to be played. The music must be simple so that whoever the musician is, it doesnt change the sound of the band. Its one of the key ideas behind the band and the compositions. Were a collective force and individuals are not important. Join Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp in Manchester on the 18th of August at the Carlton Club.
