Cawdor Castle

Legend has it that the medieval tower of Cawdor Castle was built round a 'wee' holly tree because it was a symbol of light and good fortune and would protect the castle and her inhabitants. Sure enough, it has survived unscathed through many years of troubled Scottish history and has been the private home of the Cawdor family for an impressive 600 years. With its beautiful wild and walled gardens, nature trails and atmospheric setting, Cawdor has been a source of inspiration for poets and artists throughout time. Famously linked to Shakespeare's Macbeth, Cawdor's legendary beauty and mystery endures.
