Al Steele & Friends

Al Steele & Friends

18 Apr 2026 - 18 Apr 2026

Al Steele & Friends most recent concept album is an irreverent tale of God's and Men. It has been described as the unholy offspring of Sister Act and The Matrix! Al has been one of the lead songwriters in The Korgis for the last 7 years, and responsible for all the videos and stage sets since then. This is the story of a computer programmer called Gordon the God. He creates the heavens and (notably) the Earth in seven days including a couple of misfits called Adam and Eve. The Gods then place bets on how it will all end up. However, all is not well in Gordon's camp, as he has broken some rules, in particular the one about fraternising with humans. This comes to the attention of GOD, who incidentally is his ex, and holy hell ensues! As you would imagine this does not end well... or does it This would-be Musical would disgrace the stage of any West End theatre! It stars Danielle Nicholls (Danielle Nicholls Band, The Korgis) as God - a first for the females(!), Lyndon Morgans (Songdog) as Adam, Elaine Gilmore (Simply Bacharach) as Eve, Lorna Darknell as Demeter, Paul Smith (The Korgis) as a Nephilim, and Al Steele (The Korgis, Shabbey Road Studios) as the upstart God, Gordon. This is a full band event so expect a crammed stage and various levels of outrageous behaviour. Al does not do basic! Let's Play the God Game will be performed in its entirety and there will be a 2nd set featuring many more guests including Australian author/artist/songwriter Joe Matera, Songdog, Paul Griffin and Emily Holiday. Joe will do a short support slot and also join the band for The Korgis co-writes Always a Sunny Day and Letter to Geelong. COME ALONG!... it will definitely be fun - you won't be disappointed!

Mark Waistell

Mark Waistell

30 Apr 2026 - 30 Apr 2026

Mark Waistell sang and played a bit as a student and then life and the necessity to earn a living stepped in and he didnt pick up a guitar in earnest for 30-odd years. A desire to have another go led to a new guitar and after a period of re-learning how to play, Mark took three weeks away from work and wrote twenty songs. These were heard by some people and, to his amazement, he found himself in a studio for the first time with the well-known acoustic producer, Mark Tucker (Jethro Tull, Fairport Convention, Show of Hands, Ralph McTell etc.) supported by an impressive band of famous names of the Acoustic and Folk World including Phil Beer (Show of Hands) on violin, Gerry Conway (Fairport Convention) on percussion, Spencer Cozens (John Martyn and Joan Armatrading) on piano and Barney Morse-Brown (Duotone and Imagined Village) on cello. The album, appropriately named Latecomer, came out in 2012, had excellent reviews and Mark did some gigs and radio appearances, which were well-received. Then he had to go back to the day job once more. Lockdown gave him time to write again and soon he had more than 60 new songs. Twelve of these found their way onto his second album, For A Sonnet Or A Shilling, which came out at the end of 2023. Again produced by Mark Tucker, this album also features the violin of Georgina Leach (Mary Chapin Carpenter, Seasick Steve) and the cello of Barney Morse-Brown (Duotone) once more. Mark has now left the day-job and in 2024 and 2025 played at folk clubs, folk festivals, literary festivals, charity concerts and acoustic venues around the UK from Penzance to Newcastle. A third album of original songs, With A Fine Disregard, comes out at the end of 2025 , featuring again the wonderful violin of Georgina Leach and produced by Mark Tucker. He will be touring this album in 2026. Mark's voice is soft, clear, smooth & distinctive; his lyrics are evocative of a life's experiences ..his fingerpicking guitar is sophisticated.the understated playing is beguiling and vocals as clement and serene as a dappled golden water meadow..Beautiful! FolkCast Songs of depth and feeling delivered by a voice that has the substance and richness that only time and experience can engender. Striking melodies and charismatic songs. My England of Long Ago is stunninghold on to this one, it will become a classic. Folk Words Mark Waistell with a bucketful of self-penned songs and a voice and impeccable guitar style to die for. Alma Twist Band

Alma Twist Band

24 Apr 2026 - 24 Apr 2026

Alma Twist make music that grooves first and hits the heart second. Their new collection of songs grew out of late-night jams, DIY home-studio moments, and a short but intense writing trip to the English countryside. It's music shaped by real life, real friendship, and a lot of playing together. If you’re new to them: think the soulful warmth of Olivia Dean, the playful, poetic songwriting of Nectar Wood, and the colourful, harmony-rich world of Hiatus Kaiyote but with their own twist. The new songs are joyous and groovy, with lyrics that stay honest about real-life struggles and the messy bits in between. At the centre is Kat, a powerhouse vocalist and writer who isn’t afraid to say something real. These songs dig into what it means to chase something you love, even when it's messy, uncertain, or scary. They’ve been tested live on festival stages across the UK at Glastonbury, Boomtown, Secret Garden Party, Isle of Wight, so by the time they hit the studio, the tunes already had a story and a heartbeat. The new EP also reunites Kat with long-time collaborator Leo Nathan, fresh off his own headline tour. Their chemistry is the kind you cant fake they share a rhythm section and a kind of musical sibling energy that lifts everything they make together. They will be playing songs that they wrote together and Kat will also be featuring in Leo's set. Leo’s music has been described as capturing that golden in-between of being uplifting yet emotional, familiar yet fresh. The EP lands mid-April, followed by a South of England Launch Tour, where you’ll get the full band: big grooves, tight arrangements, and Kat's unmistakable voice leading the charge. Expect retro soul, jazz colours, and modern pop energy, all in one warm, joyful, slightly chaotic cocktail
Callaghan

Callaghan

11 Jun 2026 - 11 Jun 2026

Three time BBC Radio 2 play-listed artist, Callaghan, releases her stunning new album, The Music You Gave To Me on May 16, along with a new UK headline tour. The most personal album Ive ever written or recorded is how Callaghan sums up her latest album. A collection of 8 tracks featuring some of the most personal and heart wrenching subject matter that she has ever tackled. Putting these particular songs to tape was a major step in what has been an incredibly difficult couple of years for the singer-songwriter after losing her dad, John, to lung cancer in 2023. During his short but brutal battle with the illness, Callaghan had been writing something special. A song for her dad, called The Music You Gave To Me. A thank you to the person who had taught her her first chords on the guitar and piano, and made music such a huge part of her life. It was all the things I couldnt say to him, Callaghan sighs, but I just knew they needed saying somehow. He needed to know how much of a gift hed given me and how much it meant to me. Despite the pain of losing her dad and feeling very reticent to play or write music again, gradually Callaghan forced herself back to the piano, writing the rest of the album as a tribute to the person who made music such a big part of her life. To celebrate the launch of the album Callaghan created a special group called CALLAGHANS MUSIC RADIO CLUB where fans could tune into a special radio show/podcast each day and hear all about the making of the album, the music that inspired it, and share their own experiences of grief. Originally from Lincolnshire, Callaghan moved to the US in 2010 to record her first album with Grammy nominated US artist SHAWN MULLINS. 10 years of touring extensively across the US and building up her own headline tour audiences followed. She recorded two more studio albums - one while living in Nashville with hit writer/producer Dennis Matkosky (Keith Urban/Leann Rimes), and the other after moving to Los Angeles to work with Grammy winning producer team Starr Parodi and Jeff Fair (Mission Impossible/ James Bond). Back in the UK Callaghan's music has received fantastic support and praise from Radio 2, as well as many high profile taste makers. After a break from touring to raise her two daughters (age 3 & 5) Callaghan has recently returned to the stage with a UK summer tour including multiple sold out shows. And there are exciting times aheadlots more touring, a live album in the works, plus the Callaghan's Music Radio Club podcast becoming a regular fortnightly feature. QUOTES: "A wonderful artist, beautiful, warm and hugely talented. The reaction to her music on my shows has been fantastic" BOB HARRIS, BBC Radio 2 "Callaghan is amazing...she has a voice, she sings, she writes and she plays...and there is no more that needs to be said!" The Hot Seats

The Hot Seats

9 Jul 2026 - 9 Jul 2026

For 22 years, The Hot Seats have gained and burnished the reputation as the carriers of an important and overlooked tradition of American and international folk music- social commentator, satirist, and entertainer. Homer and Jethro, The Skillet Likkers, The Hoosier Hot Shots, Harry Reser, Woodie Guthrie, Gus Cannon, Phil Ochs, Tommy Jarrell, Arthur Smith, Uncle Dave Macon, Frank Zappa these are pools in which The Hot Seats swim. Formed in 2002 by a group of like-minded friends for a weekly bar gig, the band's live shows quickly became well known for on stage antics, one-act plays, and Dada-esque humor, underpinned by a foundation in hard-driving bluegrass, old time, ragtime, jug blues, and early country music. We refer to our sound under the catchall of Stringband music as we find it tedious to get into whether it's old time, bluegrass, ragtime, country, or general freakout music. Between 2005-2018, The Hot Seats toured extensively in the US and UK, performing in nearly the full spectrum of venue size and situation: living room to dive bar; square dance to theatre). Some of their festival highlights include: Tønder Festival, The Richmond Folk Festival, Red Wing Roots, Celtic Connections, The Shetland Folk Festival, The Orkney Folk Festival, South By Southwest, Floyd Fest, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Festival, The Watermelon Park Festival, The Northeast Kingdom Music Festival, Didmarton Bluegrass Festival, Maverick Festival, HebCeltFest, Speyfest, Leicester Summer Sundae and multiple occasions Edinburgh Festival Fringe (including winning a Herald Angel Award in 2006). Since 2020, the band's original core of Ben Belcher (banjo, bass, fiddle), Josh Bearman (mandolin, banjo, guitar) and Jake Sellers (percussion bass) have been joined by Rudy Bee (fiddle, tuba, accordion, piano), JM Nobile (mandolin, guitar), and Charles Arthur (banjo, fiddle, resophonic guitar). The Hot Seats specialize in unearthing and inventing traditional music and twisting it into new concoctions. Full of virtuosity and reverent irreverence, they are a sight to behold. - Relix Magazine "Absolutely superb - stunning musicians. If you get a chance to see them, take it. Very highly recommended." - Bruce MacGregor, BBC Radio Scotland You can search far and wide and you will not find anyone playing old-time music with this level of sincerity and drive. Other young stringbands either play it too safe, or so haphazard and punkish that it comes off as hokey and contrived. The Hot Seats know how to honor the tradition while bringing it into the modern era with rare intensity. - Six Water Grog If you don't have a good time when the Hot Seats play, check your pulse. You might be dead."- Chris Bopst (Richmond Times Dispatch) The focus and polish is an interesting counterpoint to the band's satiric approach to music-making, that absurd aesthetic that now includes short films and tune-filled plays. Anything but the normal stuff. - Style Weekly www.thehotseatsrva.com

Honey & the Bear Duo

Honey & the Bear Duo

15 Oct 2026 - 15 Oct 2026

Honey & the Bear have been a tour de force on the UK Folk Festival circuit in recent years. The British folk and roots duo combine delicately interweaving vocal harmonies with emotive and evocative songwriting. With a diverse range of sounds and textures, and rhythms that flow from the fast and furious to gentle ballads, their live performances are spirited and dynamic. Conjuring stories in song, they have been enchanting audiences up and down the country with tales of Suffolk folklore, courageous people they admire and their passion for nature. The multi-instrumentalist, husband and wife team comprised of songwriters Jon Hart (guitar, bass, bouzouki) and Lucy Hart (guitar, ukulele, bass, banjo, mandolin & percussion), are often joined on-stage by band guests Evan Carson (percussion), Toby Shaer (Fiddle/Flutes/Whistles) and Archie Churchill-Moss (diatonic button accordion) who feature on all three Honey & The Bear studio albums. Together they have played at many revered venues and festivals across the UK and most recently, the duo sang live on the BBC Radio 3's In Tune programme in December 2025. They are currently working on their next studio album which is due for release in April 2026. In November 2023 they released 'Away Beyond the Fret', their most personal album yet, featuring stories and folklore of all things close to their heart including their home in Suffolk, nature, family, history and community. The album has received much critical acclaim including 5 stars from the Morning Star. After a heavy year of live gigging in 2023, they were also delighted to be shortlisted as FATEAs best band of 2023. Back in 2020 and the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the duo were grounded and all gigs cancelled, but their music prevailed in the form of Sunday night facebook livestreams of which they performed fifty-two in total. After challenging themselves to write a new song for the first 12 weeks of the livestream, they successfully managed to produce a second album. 'Journey Through the Roke' was released on 23rd April 2021. The album features many talented musicians including Toby Shaer (whistles, harmonium, flute, fiddle, bass), Evan Carson (drums, bodhran, percussion), Archie Churchill Moss of Moore Moss Rutter (melodeon) and Graham Coe of The Jellyman's Daughter (cello). 'Journey Through the Roke' has received airplay on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show. Their first full studio album 'Made In The Aker' (released July 2019) was well received by both their ever growing fan base and the critics. Born and raised in Suffolk, Lucy learned violin and drums at school, sung in the Suffolk Jubilee Choir, the Harmony Girls Choir and started songwriting at age 15. She taught herself guitar whilst at university in Canterbury, and began performing her creations not long afterwards. At 27, she released her debut band album 'Step Right On', songs from which you now hear her perform with Jon. Jon, a Yorkshire boy, raised in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, has been performing his own songs since his teens. A self taught guitarist, his love of driving guitar riffs is a core aspect of his song writing process. He has released three band albums, the latest of which was entitled 'Level with me', featuring 'wristburner' which is a gig favourite. "A spirited hymn to Suffolk, Away Beyond The Fret is a lively set led by Lucy Hart's strong, melodic voice & backed with a vibrant mix of the couple's guitar skills" The Observer "the album is a celebration of nature, history, family and community. Truly in the folk tradition." Steve Johnson MORNING STAR "there can be no denying that the music they produce is of high quality and intelligent, with the complexity present on their first two albums continuing here." Glenn Kimpton Songlines "Soaring vocals, showing both power & control from Lucy while Jon is a consummate multi-instrumentalist adding superb electric guitar to many of the songs'" ★★★★ Peter Tomkins RnR Magazine www.honeyandthebear.co.uk https://www.instagram.com/honeyandthebearmusic/hl=en-gb https://www.facebook.com/honeyandthebear/

Vanessa Forero Trio

Vanessa Forero Trio

5 Jun 2026 - 5 Jun 2026

Vanessa Forero brings her uplifting, soul-soaked live show to Bath, riding the wave of a breakthrough year and the release of her debut album 'Days Before' (out 15 May). Blending modern soul, retro pop and gospel warmth, her sound is intimate yet expansive in a performance that's rich, dynamic and full of heart. Rooted in both her British upbringing and Colombian heritage, Forero's music carries a unique sense of rhythm, colour and spirit. From the soulful, storytelling tradition of UK songwriting to the warmth and vibrancy of Latin influence, her sound feels globally rich while remaining deeply personal. Forero's shows are fast gaining a reputation for their feel-good, spirit and emotional pull. Moving effortlessly from hushed, piano-led moments to soaring, full-bodied highs, Forero creates an atmosphere that feels both deeply personal and irresistibly uplifting. Between songs, she shares glimpses of her extraordinary family story. Forero co-wrote a book about her mother, Marina Chapman, whose life story was featured in 'Woman Raised by Monkeys' on National Geographic and on Ben Fogle: 'New Lives in the Wild'. It's a remarkable narrative of survival, resilience, and ultimately hope. These themes resonate deeply with Vanessa's music. With 'Days Before', Forero steps fully into her own as an artist. The album is a bold, heartfelt collection that marks her evolution into a richer, more expansive sound, bringing together her band for the first time. This is my shameless record, she says, an unapologetic celebration of joy, honesty and musical roots. From raw reflection to uplifting, gospel-tinged anthems, Days Before is alive with emotion, connection and pure, life-affirming energy. 'Days Before' Reviews: "A modern-day Classic songwriter!
