The List

Charing Cross Theatre

The tiny Charing Cross Theatre was built in 1866 underneath Charing Cross Station. Originally a music hall, in which form it sparked the imagination of the young Rudyard Kipling, it carried on the variety tradition for decades after it had died out elsewhere, as the Players Theatre. The Players closed in 2002 but in 2005 the theatre reopened under new management, where it continues to offer an eclectic mixture of drama, comedy, music and cabaret. The nearest Tube stations are Charing Cross (Northern / Bakerloo) and Embankment (Circle / District), and the nearest surface rail is directly overhead. The theatre is served by bus routes 11, 15, 23, 91, N11, N15, N26, N91 and N551.

A Mirrored Monet

A Mirrored Monet

14 Apr 2026 - 9 May 2026

The man behind the masterpiece. Paris, 1916. The painter Claude Monet struggles to complete the commission that will define his legacy: The Water Lilies — a project on which his survival depends, with food and essential supplies at stake as the First World War encroaches. Plagued by creative block, he retreats into memory, revisiting his early artist days, his complex but passionate relationship with his muse, Camille Doncieux, and his friendships with his contemporaries, Renoir and Bazille. Inspired by letters and diaries from Monet and his peers, A Mirrored Monet immerses audiences in the cafés, studios, and salons of Belle Époque Paris, with music and projections bringing the era vividly to life. This dramatic new musical by composer/lyricist/dramatist Carmel Owen stars Jeff Shankley (Starlight Express, Cats) as Monet, Dean John-Wilson (Your Lie in April: The Musical, The King and I) as Young Monet.

Dark of the Moon

18 May 2026 - 8 Aug 2026

DARK OF THE MOON is a supernatural tale of powerful witchcraft, small-town prejudices and the power of love. This timeless, spellbinding new musical portrays the clash of two dynamically polarized worlds—a charming rural Appalachian town and the mystical world of witches and warlocks from the Smoky Mountains that loom high above. The show’s unique musical score reflects those conflicting worlds using a thrilling blend of country/bluegrass and rock. Barbara Allen - a human girl and John - a curious witch-boy - find each other and defy their communities to build a life together. But will love conquer all - or will they be haunted by a deal that was made by the dark of the moon?
