Cheltenham Racecourse

The first organised flat race meeting in Cheltenham took place in 1815 on Nottingham Hill, with the first races on Cleeve Hill in August 1818. Since 2003, over £20million has been invested to bring facilities bang up to date. The racecourse is the home of The Centaur, one of the largest auditoria in the South West of England. This multiple use complex seats over 2,000 people for conferences and around 4,000 standing for concerts. National Express runs a dedicated service from many UK destinations. A bus link runs from Cheltenham Spa Station which serves the South West, Wales, Manchester, the Midlands and the North East. Bus service 527 runs regularly from Cheltenham Centre to Bishops Cleeve and Gotherington via the Racecourse Roundabout.

This is intended as a QUIET SESSION - an opportunity to see the Lion sculptures when the event is not too crowded The Lions at Large Pride of Gloucestershire Trail features 32 large lion sculptures, beautifully decorated by amazing local artists, plus 54 little lions lovingly created by local schools and community groups. Join us for our farewell event at the iconic Cheltenham Racecourse, where youll get to see the whole Lions at Large pride together - for the very first time! This will be your last chance to catch these majestic lions before they go to charity auction. Tickets for this one-off event are available in 30-minute entry slots, but once youre in, feel free to prowl around at your leisure and soak up every moment. Expect to find the entire pride on display - from our roarsome large lion sculptures to our little lion cub club members. Dont forget to snap a roarsome selfie, grab some Lions at Large merchandise and pounce on a raffle ticket or two! Cheltenham Racecourse will also be on hand offering food and drinks to purchase to keep you fuelled for your wild adventure. Last entry is 3pm and the event closes at 4pm.
