Chester Castle: Agricola Tower and Castle Walls

The Agricola Tower, the stone gateway to the inner bailey of Chester Castle is named after the Roman general who conquered most of Britain, but nobody knows why since it wasn't built until over eleven hundred years after his death. Never mind, it's a remarkable work of Norman architecture and is big enough to contain the chapel of St Mary de Castro. From the castle walls, you can look down on the city. Access is by guided tour only. The castle is served by the 1, 3, 3A, 4, 4A, X11, 12, 13, X44 and X55 buses. Chester station is one mile away.
