It's The Jazz Club as part of Festival of Chichester! We are excited to present Nigel Price, one of the UKs most highly respected jazz guitarist. He is celebrated for his fluent bebop language, bluesy phrasing and commanding rhythmic drive. Over a career spanning more than 25 years he has appeared on over 50 recordings and released numerous acclaimed albums as a leader, most notably with the Nigel Price Organ Trio, whose dynamic blend of groove, swing and modern jazz has earned widespread critical praise. Price spent a decade as a core member of the influential acid-jazz group The Filthy Six and was also a long-standing member of the James Taylor Quartet, recording five albums and touring extensively with one of Britains most successful jazz-funk bands. His versatility and musical authority have led to collaborations with a diverse range of artists, including legendary producer and composer David Axelrod, and a guest appearance on Van Morrisons album Keep Me Singing. As a bandleader, his recordings such as Heads & Tales and Heads & Tales Volume 2 have become modern classics of the UK organ-trio tradition, praised for their originality, energy and strong melodic identity. His work has been recognised with major industry honours, including a Parliamentary Jazz Award for Best Ensemble in 2010 and multiple British Jazz Awards, winning Best Guitarist in 2016. A familiar and much-loved presence at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, where he has performed hundreds of times, Price is also known for his commitment to the wider jazz community, having served as musical director of the Swanage Jazz Festival. Whether leading his own projects or collaborating with top-tier musicians, Nigel Price continues to be a defining voice in British jazz, combining deep tradition with a contemporary edge and an unmistakable personal sound.
