Set Foot In Scotland

30 Jul 2025 - 30 Jul 2025

An enjoyable circular walk to the border via Trowupburn and Wideopen Head. We step foot over the border to the Stob Stanes, to admire the vast panoramic view, before returning via the St Cuthberts Way. Starting at Hethpool, we walk along the College valley and take the footpath around Sinkside Hill to Trowupburn and Wideopen Head, before stepping over the border into Scotland for fantastic views. We visit the 'Stob Stanes' and learn about their link to the Kings of the Yetholm gypsies. Leaving Scotland, we take the St Cuthberts Way footpath, dropping down to Scaldhill Shank and Elsdonburn to return to Hethpool. Dress for changeable weather and wear suitable footwear. Bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink for the break. Dogs are not permitted at this event.
