Led by jazz violin superstar Christian Garrick, the BCO evokes vivid images of Tzigane fiddle maestros, Budapest café life and gypsy campfires - plus a few surprises along the way: good enough to make you want to book that holiday down the Danube! They are hard to describe, and as fantastically exciting as they are musically impressive, journeying far and wide across the Balkans and Russia, Klezmer, Romanian Doinas, Hungarian Czardas. Expect surprises, diversions and adventures along the way. Hugely entertaining, with immense skill and profound musicianship. They have won acclaim from fans, fellow musicians and critics alike for their electrifying and entertaining shows.
Josie Long: Now Is the Time of Monsters
A new show about extinct gigantic, charismatic, megafauna from 3-time Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominated Comedian, and very good comedian Josie Long. In these troubled times, in this wicked world, it can feel like apocalypse is everywhere but did you know 11,000 years ago there were some really big armadillos? I’m talking about as big as a car. Really big. And they were vegetarian so don’t even worry about them. Also my daughter has a hamster and I’m not saying distract yourself from everything, but I’m saying he’s also part of everything. Josie is back with a new show about discovery, wonder, extinction and how to walk through a landscape of monstrous disaster. There is also a good tip about silt, guaranteed.

In her eightieth year, Christine wondered if she might create her first show. Who says an octogenarian shouldn’t be working with stepladders, electronics... and water? A performance of persistence and joy, celebrating the beautiful functions and limits of a human body and the desire to make things happen. Assisted by her helper, Calum, Christine manipulates and raps her way along a precarious journey of movement and sound, taking us to surprising places. This is real, what happens along the way we can’t be sure. Just got to keep going! ★★★★ Broadway Baby “Absurd, joyful and breath-taking” For ages 8+ Funded and supported by: Creative Scotland, Luminate, Dance Base, Eden Court, Citymoves

Night Waking

Night Waking

16 Oct 2025 - 31 Oct 2025

An Tobar and Mull Theatre presents the world premiere of Night Waking by Shireen Mula, adapted from the novel by Sarah Moss and directed by Rebecca Atkinson-Lord. A remote Scottish island. A sleep-deprived mother. A grave you were never meant to find. Anna Bennett should be writing a book. Instead, she's counting the minutes of lost sleep, peeling a toddler off her leg, and Googling Victorian infanticide at 3 a.m. Her ornithologist husband is out studying puffins, oblivious. Her sons are running feral. And when she and her eldest uncover something in the garden something small, something wrapped in wool, it becomes clear that history isn't just a thing she studies. It's here. Underfoot. And it wont rest quietly. Night Waking is a sharp, strange, and darkly funny exploration of motherhood, colonialism, and the ghosts we inherit. As Anna ricochets between present-day exhaustion, historical letters, and a past that wont stay buried, she is forced to confront what it means to nurture, to protect, and to fail. Adapted from Sarah Moss's novel by Shireen Mula, this one-woman play is a feat of acting virtuosity, a fragmented, fevered journey through sleepless nights, long-lost voices, and the things that wont stay hidden.
Pottery Workshop

Pottery Workshop

1 Nov 2025 - 1 Nov 2025

A two day pottery workshop Saturday 1 Nov and Saturday 22 Nov 10.30am-3pm. Rebecca Atkinson grew up in a pottery shed, quite literally-her dad was a craft potter trained under Harold Thornton, and the family kiln was even used to cook the Christmas turkey. Surrounded by clay, glaze, and visiting potters from around the world, she absorbed the craft without even realising it. After years working in theatre, she found her way back to clay in 2018 and now runs a small studio on Mull as well as her family’s pottery in Crete. Her work draws on the Leach tradition, blending Japanese and Chinese influences with a touch of ancient Greek aesthetics and the colours and textures of the Hebridean landscape-especially her beloved green glazes. This two-day workshop is perfect for beginners and anyone curious about clay. You’ll get hands-on with both wheel throwing and hand-building, learn the basics of shaping, glazing and firing, and create your own ceramic piece from start to finish. It’s a friendly, creative space to slow down, try something new, and get a bit muddy! £60 each. There are only eight spaces for this workshop, please book early!

A duet between dancer and sound artist, The Morrich is a response to living in a remote, rural Highland community in close proximity to an Air Weapons Range. The performance explores what it means to inhabit a complex place where war and nature co-exist and considers what will remain and what will evolve in a post-Anthropocene world. Audiences are invited to visit the supporting visual arts exhibition in the Snug at An Tobar, which shares photographs, video and found objects from the research and development of the work. The Morrich is funded by the Creative Scotland Open Fund and supported by An Tobar and Mull Theatre, Dance Base and Artspace Highland.
