Fred MacAulay: Good Evening!

Fred MacAulay: Good Evening!

22 May 2026 - 16 Oct 2026

For reasons outwith his control, Fred had to cancel his 2025 Edinburgh Fringe shows and his Autumn Tour - “Fred MacAulay: No podcast - LIVE”. Now, thankfully, due to reasons completely within his control, he is now preparing to hit the road in 2026 with the 2025 show repackaged and updated and simply called “GOOD EVENING!”. So what happened? Simply put: Fred suffered a freak accident and then an unrelated prostate cancer diagnosis. Is there humour in either of these? In the words of a famous Scotland footballer “Maybes Aye, Maybes Naw”. Now in the fourth decade of his comedy career, Fred MacAulay still loves being on stage doing what he does best...quite simply it's STAND-UP and his appetite for performing is as strong as it was all those years ago when he took a massive side-ways step from a career as an Accountant and Company Secretary into the world of entertainment. A career which has taken him all over the world (apart from South America) (and some other continents) where he has worked in television and radio. But it’s always been and always will be as a stand-up that Fred wants to be remembered. It's because of stand-up that he’s been asked to do all the 'celebrity' things that he’s done. He might talk about some of them, but he's more likely to talk about what is current - having been a guest on the famous Radio 4 News Quiz show for almost 18 years he has some previous in this respect. And as a family man he'll no doubt be talking about the latest stage of that aspect of life...grandchildren. "I can remember the joy of having our kids just after I'd embarked on my career in comedy... what a great source of material they were! I mean, that wasn't the main reason for having kids ... but I hope the same applies to the grandkids!" Fred hates the word ‘celebrity’ yet he’s done Celebrity Mastermind (twice) and Celebrity Masterchef (once) and who can forget his Celebrity Fame Academy for Comic Relief (Answer: hopefully everyone). Asked twice to do ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’ Fred said No! “I’m waiting for the Scottish version... “So You Think You’re A Celebrity, Get The Out Of Here!” Asked for a snappy quote for publicity, Fred sent this: “I really hope that a lot of people come out to see this tour. I think it’s the best show I’ve done since the last one.”

Peat & Diesel

Peat & Diesel

22 May 2026 - 5 Sept 2026

The story began when three Stornoway Cove's (Innes, Uilly and Boydie) met up in the house to have the craic on a Saturday night playing music with just the dog and the cat watching. After a few tunes getting thrown across the room Boydie stated muttering a few sentences. As he is a man of few words no attention was really given to him until he shouted 'Quick, line me out!' Not a second to spare a set of old broken headphones were cable tied to a guitar amp and out came a few cobwebs followed shortly after with a sound nobody had ever heard before. What came next was five gallons of lyrics, verse after verse, song after song Peat & Diesel was born! The songs won't make much sense to the average person, but the person behind the lyrics isn't your average man so if you have a listen and you can relate to it you are a special breed! Peat & Diesel Light my Byre takes you on a journey to the heart of the Western Isles, where #peatlemania was born. You might have time for a brandy in the 'Airidh' but don't miss your ride in Calum Dan's Transit Van, we ain't stopping till we lose the water!

Tartan Noir with Professor David Wilson and Martin Frizell
What happens when the stories we tell about crime become more powerful than the reality? Join criminologist Professor David Wilson and journalist Martin Frizell for an engaging evening exploring some of Scotland’s most talked-about crimes - and the stories that have grown up around them. Drawing on decades of experience in journalism and criminology, the evening looks at why certain crimes continue to grip public attention, how “tartan noir” has shaped Scotland’s reputation, and where the reality of crime differs from its portrayal in books, television, and true crime culture. Through cases including Bible John, Peter Tobin, Dennis Nilsen, Robert Black, the Dunblane massacre, organised crime in Scotland, and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, the discussion moves beyond headlines to ask what these stories really tell us about violence, fear, and society. Alongside the cases themselves, Wilson and Frizell explore: Why serial killers feature so heavily in Scottish crime fiction despite being rare in reality How Scotland went from being labelled the “murder capital of Europe” to experiencing historically low homicide rates The impact of crime dramas and true crime on public attitudes to masculinity, punishment, and justice Thoughtful, accessible, and often surprising, True Crime Tartan Noir invites audiences to reflect on the difference between myth and reality - and why the stories we tell about crime matter. A must-see for fans of true crime, criminology, and gripping real-life stories!
Dylan Moran: We Got This

Dylan Moran: We Got This

3 Jul 2026 - 30 May 2027

How can it be you have spent a whole ten minutes staring at a banana? Why do you always do stuff like that? Why do you never do the other really great things where it’s much, much better - and afterwards you don’t want to saw off your own face and post it back to yourself with not quite enough stamps? Also, learn how to make breakfast not even knowing you are out of bed. Diagnose the mirror, reason with the mice and boil yoghurt blindfolded. Enjoy the fruits of hurtling cognitive decline and your neighbour’s sprawling ghastliness, absence of humanity and so, so much more. These times have not been easy. We Got This is the brand new show from BAFTA and Perrier award winning comedian Dylan Moran. It promises to be a joyously furious romp through the frustration and folly of modern day life.
