The Crick Crack Club presents THE BODIES ON THE BEACH - The Last Battles of Fionn MacCumhaill Performance storytelling by Ben Haggarty & Steph Brittain A fatherless son A daughters lament A pig stolen from its spit Fires burning out at sea And a dream On the westernmost tip of Ireland, a beach of crystal white sand once ran crimson with the blood of a never-ending magical battle the last battle fought by the epic hero, Fionn MacCumhaill. Step into a maelstrom of myth, as storytellers Ben Haggarty and Steph Brittain pick through fragments of voices, medieval manuscript, and song to piece together a story of love, loss and destiny a Celtic Iliad. Raw, lyrical, and unforgettable. This is not just a wild myth retold. Its an exploration of what it means to live, to regret, to sacrifice, and to endure in a relentless world. What will survive the tide? RUNNING TIME: 120mins plus interval CONTENT:This performance includes references to and descriptions of bereavement, death, sex, war, violence, cannibalism, incest, suicide, infanticide, contextualised within a paradigm of mythic narrative, archetype and metaphor. SUITABLE FOR: adults (16+) INFORMATION: Running time: 120mins plus interval WRAP UP WARM! Bring a cushion & wear sensible shoes. A torch will also come in handy... Suitable for adults (16+) There will be a simple bar running, and you can also bring your own. We serve tea, coffee and hot spiced apple juice on a 'donation' basis. Occasionally there's cake! We open the site at 6pm for evening shows. If it's sunny, please feel free to bring a picnic to eat in the grounds of the Earthouse (just don't munch food while the show is on). We do not offer ticket refunds unless we manage to resell your ticket. If you are unable to attend, then we recommend that you pass your ticket(s) to a friend. What better gift would there be?! Performance Storytelling by TUUP, Tim Ralphs, Nell Phoenix & Sarah Liisa Wilkinson Summer is here and the temperature is rising Four Crick Crack Club storytellers take to the stage for a night of gloriously rude folk and fairytales. This no-holds-barred evening of innuendo and bawdiness will peep beneath the petticoats of flirtation, raise a suggestive eyebrow at forbidden love, and take the urges of men and women firmly in hand. Lowering the tone for your delight are the glint-toothed, unprecedented preacher man TUUP, the oh-so-knowing Sarah Liisa Wilkinson, the irreverent reverend Tim Ralphs, and the naughty-but-nice Nell Phoenix. Expect funny, saucy, and deliciously improper stories that stray below the belt. The Crick Crack Club presents THE SHAHNAMEH Book of Kings Performance Storytelling by Xanthe Gresham, with music by Arash Moradi Aerial artiste of the spoken word, Xanthe Gresham, dives headlong into the wild mythology of Persia, to perform sections of The Shahnameh - the epic masterpiece The Book of Kings - accompanied by the remarkable Iranian musician Arash Moradi. Magical horses, epic heroes, and consuming passions abound in this world of romance, lust, tragedy and war. Here fathers and sons may be strangers in battle; selfish Kings move others like chess pieces across the board for their own amusement; beauty can be both a gift and a curse, and strong women break free and conquer their fate.
