Criterion Theatre
The Criterion is one of the West End's older theatres, having opened in 1874, and has successfully resisted development of the area to survive as one of the best-restored Victorian theatres in the city. In the mid-20th century it helped to launch the careers of Terrence Rattigan and Samuel Beckett, and since 2006 it's hosted a hit adaptation of The 39 Steps.
The theatre entrance is on Piccadilly Circus, making for a rather obvious choice of Tube station, Piccadilly Circus itself (Bakerloo/Piccadilly); for Northern Line access, try Leicester Square, about 3 minutes' walk to the east. The Circus itself is served by the 3, 6, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15,19, 22, 23, 38, 88, 94, 139, 159 and 453 bus routes.
