The List

Curve Theatre

You can take curve literally, as the award-winning building, designed by acclaimed architect Rafael Viñoly, features a curved façade made from 1,192 tonnes of steel and 46000m² of glass. Impressive, no? The arts centre was opened in 2008 by Her Majesty The Queen, and uniquely, has no backstage area. Visitors are therefore privy to the inner-workings of the theatre (making the possibility of famous-actor-spotting very real). The building is managed by Leicester Theatre Trust.

Ex Cathedra Rachmaninoff Vespers

Ex Cathedra Rachmaninoff Vespers

16 May 2026 - 16 May 2026

Powerful, passionate, hypnotic – in a time of turmoil and at the height of his powers, Rachmaninoff turned to the choral heritage he held dear, and created his awe-inspiring All-Night Vigil — better known as the Vespers. This masterpiece of unaccompanied choral writing is a radiant tapestry of ancient chant and lush Romantic harmony. From its hushed opening prayer to its triumphant final blessing, the work moves with deep spiritual intensity and overwhelming emotional sweep. With mesmeric melodies – and some of the lowest notes you’ll ever hear sung – it is beloved by audiences and singers alike. “Concerts given by Ex Cathedra are never just concerts… incredible intonation and tuning, soaring to great heights and plunging into abyssal depths yet staying true, never wavering. The choir’s intricate shaping of the music continued to the last … passing through blazing fire before finally receding into a quiet, radiant joy” – (BackTrack.com) Read the full review here.

Nish Kumar: Angry Humour From a Really Nice Guy
The world is in chaos. Inequality is widening, autocracy is rising and political parties are collapsing. In these divided times, what this country desperately needs is Angry Humour From a Really Nice Guy (in many ways it's actually the last thing this country needs, but it's what it's getting so tough luck). The UK’s leading political comic Nish Kumar – co-host of hugely popular podcast Pod Save the UK, former host of axed BBC show The Mash Report, and one of Taskmaster’s greatest losers – is back on tour with a formidable batch of passionate, progressive stand-up for the ages. Kumar is 40. His mind is breaking. His body is worse. Expect existential angst and political disquiet from comedy's cheekiest boy. Nish Kumar was named one of the 50 Best Comedians of the 21st Century by both The Guardian and The Telegraph, with his previous tour playing to sold out crowds across the UK, North America, Australasia and mainland Europe.
