The List

Cutty Sark

A historic British clipper ship, the Cutty Sark was the fastest ship of its time, and had variously worked in the tea and wool trade, as a cargo vessel and as a cadet training ship. One of three ships in the world made out of composite construction (having a wooden hull on an iron frame), the Cutty Sark is listed by National Historic Ships as part of the National Historic Fleet. The whisky brand Cutty Sark takes its name from the ship. The ship has been on public display since 1953. The nearest stations are the Cutty Sark DLR, the Greenwich rail station and Maze Hill rail station, and Greenwich Pier.
