Retirement Party

Retirement Party

7 Aug 2025 - 15 Aug 2025

Retirement Party is a playful party punk quartet from the Windy City. Singer/lyricist Avery Springer tells nervous, insightful stories in a stream-of-consciousness style.
DC Presents: The Golden Dregs / Sophie Jamieson / Lichen (solo)
Founded in Falmouth, Cornwall by songwriter and producer Benjamin Woods, The Golden Dregs released two albums in quick successionLafayette (2018) and Hope Is For The Hopeless (2019)before signing to 4AD for 2023s On Grace & Dignity. With a love of storytelling delivered in a lulling baritone often compared to Leonard Cohen and Bill Callahan, Woods music blends sardonic wit with existential unease. As The Line of Best Fit put it, The Golden Dregs sound like a soundtrack to happy hour in some smoke-ridden edge-of-town bar. Now based in South London, Woods launched his own label, Joy of Life International, in 2024a fiercely independent home for ambitious, artist-led work. The labels ethos reflects the spirit of Godspeed, The Golden Dregs fourth album, released in April 2025: a record that explores stasis and adventure, dread and defiance, through collaborative arrangements and vivid, storm-laced imagery. The Joy of Life Revue brings this ethos to the stage. Featuring very special guest Sophie Jamieson and Lichen (solo), the tour is a celebration of kindred spirits and DIY community - a traveling showcase of songwriting, solidarity, and strange beauty.
DC Presents: Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band
At the frayed bottom-edge of Indiana just a moderate bike ride north of Louisville, Kentucky multi-instrumentalist, artist and songwriter Ryan Davis Americana-noir soundwaves have been emanating for years in a myriad of forms. But not until late-2023's rich and glowing double-disc Dancing On The Edge, the debut breakout release as Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band, was his creative presence so widely acknowledged by press, fellow contemporaries and fans alike, commonly deeming the record an instant classic of idiosyncratic American songwriting greatness. Spring 2025's UK/Ireland tour gave Ryan and band the platform to affirm speculation with a series of intensely passionate shows founder/author of UNCUT Allan Jones citing the band's Kilkenny Roots Festival show as 'intense, amazing, an emotional exorcism with lyrics unfolding like a fever dream'.
