My Life Story released three successful albums and six top forty singles in the 90s, including The Golden Mile (feat 12 Reasons Why I Love You and Strumpet) and Mornington Crescent (feat Motorcade and You Don't Sparkle). They toured successfully for many years with their inspired brand of orchestral, incisive pop. They returned with a bang in 2023/2024 delivering the critically-acclaimed Loving You Is Killing Me LP and touring again to great reaction.

A British alternative rock outfit from Bradford-on-Avon in Wiltshire, Jesus Jones' kinetic mix of samples, pop, dance, and techno resulted in one huge international hit single, "Right Here, Right Now." Known for their strong melodies and hooks, and for meshing club overtones with traditional rock guitar, the group, alongside contemporaries like EMF, the Shamen, and Pop Will Eat Itself, helped shape the '90s alternative rock scene by showing that sample-driven dance music could comfortably fit into pop music. While their popularity faded in the early 2000s, they continued to perform and record, albeit sporadically, with their sixth studio long-player, Passages, arriving in 2018 after a lengthy hiatus.

Baba Yaga's Hut present: OOIOO at Dingwalls, Novemember 5th OOIOO has always created a musical language all its own. Under the leadership of YoshimiO, a founding member of Boredoms, the group has recorded music that have subverted expectations and warped perceptions of what constitutes pop and experimental music. OOIOO began as a fictitious band for a photo shoot for Switch magazine in 1996. The all-female four-piece ensemble includes Yoshimi, guitarist Kayan, bassist Aya and Ritsuko Mishina on drums. The band quickly gained attention by being the opening act for Sonic Youth in 1997. While the band’s tours of the United States are infrequent, they are as the New York Times has stated, transcendent - taking their love of indigenous music into an entirely new dimension by freely weaving organic and electric tones into a vivid tapestry, employing their keen sense of color and texture. OOIOO's music is constantly evolving from release to release, from one band to another. Intense performers and creators, drawing from a wide range of influences, the band has invented a heartfelt musical language that is eclectic yet accessible and completely their own - dense and frantic. Emerging from the same art/design cauldron that produced fellow Leeds legends Soft Cell, Scritti Politti, and The Mekons, CUD were the pre-Britpop answer to doleful shoegazing bands fun-loving, light-hearted, romantic and downright catchy. Alternatively loved or loathed like a yeast extract, CUD are indie rock for the unpretentious pleasure seeker, boasting as they do the rich deep-lunged voice of Carl Puttnam, edgy guitars of Mike Dunphy and tight, funky rhythm section of William Potter, bass and Gogs Byrn, drums. CUD were initially lauded for their quirky Peel session cover of You Sexy Thing in 1987. They soon built up a huge live following and buffed up their repertoire with a string of unstraight pop beauties, best exemplified by the 1990 album Leggy Mambo. This led to a major-label deal with A&M in 1991, front-page NME coverage, massive sellout gigs and proper Top 30 hits, Rich and Strange and Purple Love Balloon. Misunderstood by record companies and press, CUD packed away their guitars and sticks in 1995 but, bolstered by a greatest hits anthology (Rich and Strange) in 2006, they agreed to tread the boards again, with a further reunion following in 2012 (now with original guitarist and key songwriter Mike Dunphy) and continue to find an army of Space CUDets still eager to sing along, dance like fruitcakes and invade their stage.

Baba Yaga's Hut Presents: Smote SMOTE, once a solo endeavor by Daniel Foggin, now expanded to a fuller ensemble blends traditional instrumentation - creaking strings, funeral drums, somber winds - with thunderous synth work and desolate guitar to craft drone and dirge. The new album “A Grand Stream” (Rocket Recordings 2024) is a full-scale psychic voyage into the ether and a drone-and-repetition-fuelled series of incantations that takes simple, primal ingredients and utilises them for the purposes of aural sorcery, summoning spectres and revelations aplenty in its wake. Smote’s austerity is one that refreshingly escapes the usual trappings of avant-garde music, simply by the force of its elemental vitality and its grounding of negative aural space. Its overpowering wall of sound still holds enough natural grace that it escapes the oppressive abusiveness of, say, Swans, and yet it is relentless in its forward thrust. “A Grand Stream” takes the band - one who’ve always eschewed the cliches and stumbling blocks of all contemporary psych rock in favour of their own unique and wyrd vision - into a realm in which they transcend through willpower and skill alike into something preternaturally thrilling and intimidating, mapping out their own crepuscular new territory in the paranormal. Future of the left are a rock band from Cardiff, Wales. They were formed in 2005 as part of a plea agreement following their involvement in an arms deal which left an actor playing Tony Blair dead, or at least pretending really well. They are made up of Andrew Falkous, Jack Egglestone and Julia Ruzicka and have also included Kelson Mathias and Jimmy Watkins in their history. The forthcoming record will be their fifth studio album and the second to be released on their own label, Prescriptions.

In January, the band announced that singer Damian Wilson had decided to step down as vocalist at the end of 2026. “We thank him for his time with us and for the energy and talent he brought to the band... we wish him luck for the future, but before he goes, Damian will perform a final set of shows with Arena at the end of 2026. Proving that loud, gritty, and ranting punk rock is still alive and thrashing in Canada, Toronto's Cancer Bats employ a punishing blend of hardcore punk, metalcore, Southern rock, and sludge metal. Citing a wide berth of musical inspirations including Black Flag, Down, Led Zeppelin, Entombed, and Black Sabbath -- they have toured Canada as a Sabbath cover band under the moniker Bat Sabbath -- they emerged in 2006 with the hard-hitting Birthing the Giant. They caught fire in the early 2010s, earning Juno Award nominations for 2011's Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones and 2013's Dead Set on Living, and have remained at the forefront of the Canadian hardcore scene with subsequent efforts like The Spark That Moves (2018) and Psychic Jailbreak (2022).
