Current description Discover Bucks Museum in the heart of Aylesbury old town is a fascinating place to visit for all ages with an exciting programme of changing exhibitions and events throughout the year. The new Discover Bucks Galleries tell the story of Bucks people and landscapes from 200 million years ago to today. See bones of a ferocious sea monster dug up in Aylesbury, a 3000-year-old Bronze Age sword and the Lenborough hoard of Anglo-Saxon coins. For hands-on discovery and amazing science inspired by Roald Dahl’s stories visit the fabulous Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery. Through real artefacts, immersive displays, and vivid storytelling, the exhibition reveals how people lived, fought, believed, and were remembered over 1,300 years ago. Step into the World of the Saxons. Discover the stories behind three remarkable Saxon burial sites, each revealing a different level of status and way of life.

Spy Craft! With Mark Creasy @ Discover Bucks Museum
Become a spy with local author Mark Creasy, who’ll be leading super-secret code-breaking and cipher activities this half term. Learn all about the inspiration behind his book Simon Smith, Schoolboy Spy, hear extracts from the book and have the chance to purchase your very own signed, personalized copy! This activity is recommended for children aged 5-11. Younger children are welcome but will need some help with their code.
