Celebrate National Children’s Gardening Week at Dobbies with our hands-on planting experience and afternoon tea – Sat 31 May Saturday 31 May | 2.30pm Celebrate National Children’s Gardening Week at Dobbies with our hands-on planting experience and afternoon tea. We want to inspire children’s curiosity with gardening, so we’re hosting our popular hands-on planting experience, combined with a delicious Afternoon Tea, but for kids! The 90-minute experience will begin with a chance for your little ones to get creative with a planting workshop, where they'll learn how to build a beautiful planted container to display at home. Please note only the children will go away with a planted container, but adults are encouraged to help them with the planting. Planting One of our green team will host a demo and teach your children all about our seasonal selection of plants. We’ll provide one of our fun highland cow or hedgehog pots and a mix of summer plants, all selected by our knowledgeable team. Your children will then create their very own planter (worth up to £20) to take home and enjoy all summer long. Following the planting experience, you can all relax with a delicious sweet treat in our resturant. The recomended age range for this event is 3-14 years. Younger children will need support from parents or guardians during the planting workshop. This is a ticket only family event, all adults and children who would like to attend require a pre-purchased ticket. This event will take place in Aberdeen, Antrim, Ashford, Atherstone, Ayr, Braehead, Brighton, Bury St Edmunds, Chesterfield, Cirencester, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Gailey, Galton, Gillingham, Liverpool, Milngavie, Milton Keynes, Perth, Ponteland, Shenstone, Southport, Swansea, Swindon, Telford, Tewkesbury and Woodcote Green. Only children’s tickets come with a planted container to take away, but adults are welcome to help their children with the planting experience. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Children under 1 can attend with other booked family members without a full price ticket, however no food or planting eperience will be included. Please note any babies during the booking process so that space can be allocated at your table. We are unable to offer vegan containing ingredient afternoon tea. NGCI afternoon tea is available, this must be requested under the allergen requirements tab at booking. Please note we cannot offer a NGCI afternoon tea in Northern Ireland. Plant and pot choices may vary, if certain plant types aren't available, a suitable alternative will be offered. Advanced notification is required if you or any of your party have any allergy or dietary requirements. Please provide these details in the 'allergen requirements' section when making your booking. Little Seedlings Club: June Workshop - Garden Tools
From planting pretty flowers for our windowsill to pulling up pesky weeds, find out more about the tools that make gardening possible in our FREE June Little Seedlings workshop GARDEN TOOLS With this workshop, children will learn all about garden tools – from the history of the very first tools, to the kinds of things they help us with when it comes to growing our own plants and looking after our gardens and green spaces. Topics and activities will include: What garden tools do you know? The history of garden tools Silly sounding garden tools – real or fake? Summer jobs in the garden + what tools to use Workshop activity: Watering can card art Please note: Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian Where stores are running multiple sessions it is the same workshop delivered at each one Parents or guardians wishing to order hot drinks for the session in advance can do so during the booking process Dates and times for our Little Seedlings Clubs vary by store and not all stores are able to participate Advance booking is required with spaces booked quickly – please book early to avoid disappointment Where a session is shown as 'Sold Out' – we're sorry, there are no more tickets available for that time

Free, in-store Grow How demonstrations will take place on the first Saturday and first Wednesday of the month, at 10.30am and 3.30pm Our free, in-store grow how demonstrations will take place on the first Saturday and first Wednesday of the month, at 10.30 am and 3.30 pm We're encouraging the nation to grow their own and work with the seasons to maximise their outdoor and indoor space, no matter how big or small! Grow How offers you an interactive opportunity to learn from our Green Team and improve your gardening skills. These educational sessions are built to be flexible, fun and interactive. Taking around 30 minutes, you can look forward to a live demonstration followed by a Q&A session, where a member of our Green Team will share their top tips and know-how. Join us on Saturday 7 and Wednesday 4 June at 10.30am and 3.30pm where our Green Team will share their top tips for caring for one of our most beloved plants. The workshop will cover: Types of roses Rose planting basics Pruning 101 Tips for trouble-free roses Plus a demo on deadheading your roses Book your place or join us on the day. Please note that advanced booking is not required put preferred to allow our store colleagues to prepare the best session possible for you.
