Old School Indie - The indie night for the over 30s are once again joining forces with Feeling Gloomy & Age Against The Machine to bring you a special. Feeling Gloomy & Old School Indie DJs will be playing a mix of indie classics from across the decades so whether you were an 70s punk, 80s new waver, 90s britpopper or early 00s poser they'll be something for everyone.

Girls of the Internet’s manifesto is clear; to create dance music that calls back to how it was made at its inception, but with the knowledge and experience of the past 50 years of the genre. Joining the dots that have not been joined for a long time, the collective takes on people of all sexualities, gender expressions and body types. “We are very proud to bring this music back to its inclusive roots. Let’s forget the disjointed and cliquey scene we live in, and bring back what once united us.” Crafting songs with real musicians, the group’s name was inspired by Ladies of the 80’s by Eighties Ladies, the album from a girl group produced by Roy Ayers, “I just loved the whole concept, and I wanted to do the same thing with Girls of the Internet,” explains the group’s founding member Tom Kerridge. “I wanted a name that played with gender, and people’s subconscious misogyny. Girls of the Internet is abstract – it means nothing, and it means everything.”

Created by Gordon Chapman-Fox, the Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan is a musical project that explores this history and its reverberations today. Looking backward and forward, Chapman-Fox explores the artistic traces of this modernist architecture's lingering hauntology.

But weeks into the recording, life hit him like a lightning bolt in the form of the sudden dissolution of his marriage and his subsequent psychic spiral. Blindsided by heartbreak, the music Becker had written for the record began to take on new meaning. What had come from joy was now something closer to agony. In the friction of that moment, Becker pushed his band-and his songwriting-into stranger territory. Born to a Puerto Rican/Native American mother and a Filipino father, Nahko was adopted and raised in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon. Beginning his musical journey at 6 years old, Nahko began traveling widely in his teens, wrestling with identity, purpose, and perception. Busking on streets, selling CDs out of his guitar case, he earned a cult following. Backed by his band, Medicine For The People, Nahko’s 2013 commercial breakout album 'Dark As Night' landed in the Billboard Heatseekers Chart top 10. Medicine For The People played major festivals including Outside Lands, Electric Forest, Wanderlust, and Bumbershoot, and sold-out Colorado’s 10,000-capacity Red Rocks Amphitheatre as headliners. In 2020, Nahko walked away from the corporate music industry, vanishing into rural Oregon to work intensely on himself and his relationship with the world. He returns with a record rich in the core qualities that have defined his career and delighted fans for over a decade – socially-conscious, super-positive folk and rock flecked with soulful alt-R&B, reggae, and gospel – now embroidered with a nuanced defiance of “cancel culture”, wide-eyed re-appreciation of himself, and a trademark stylistic eclecticism expanded into hip-hop, pop, trap, and more. On seventh album, 'Trenches', Nahko Bear channels three years of soul-searching personal revolution into sound. The record reflects more than a thousand days of open-hearted self-excavation, avid learning/unlearning, and radical internal re-calibration.

The Frank and Walters Paul Linehan is one of Irelands most talented and inspirational singer / songwriters. For nearly 30 years Paul has penned and performed hundreds of songs with The Frank and Walters which have captured the hearts and minds of generations. The band originally became world famous on the 90s indie scene and have produced seven studio albums. Paul has lost none of his talent or motivation to produce fantastically crafted and catchy indie songs and continues to write new material to this day. This summer the band also achieved a life-long ambition when they played with a full orchestra at the Cork Opera House.

A member of California's Project Blowed collective with a whip-smart sense of humor, rapper Open Mike Eagle was born Michael Eagle II in Chicago. It was at the Southern Illinois University Carbondale that the aspiring MC became an RA, and after he met Hannibal Buress, the resident advisor and student became fast friends. Grad school took him to the West Coast, where he joined the Project Blowed collective along with the group Thirsty Fish. In 2010, he went solo on Mush Records with Unapologetic Art Rap, an album that featured college bud Buress along with left-field MCs like Busdriver and Serengeti. Rappers Will Die of Natural Causes followed a year later on the Hellfyre label; then he collaborated with producer Awkward and issued 4NML HSPTL on Fake Four in 2012. The Mello Music group released the aptly titled Dark Comedy in 2014, the same year that Eagle submitted a track to The Ron and Fez Show, which the satellite radio talk show duo soon picked up as their theme song. He stuck with Mello for 2016's Hella Personal Film Festival, an album recorded with U.K. producer Paul White. Solo effort Brick Body Kids Still Daydream followed a year later, with EP What Happens When I Try to Relax arriving in 2018.

Conceived in a cabin overlooking the Delaware River in upstate New York, Son Littles latest album, Like Neptune, trades in the existential dread permeating previous work for unbridled joy and self-acceptance. In this verdant space of freedom, Son Little transmutes the chronic pain of self-doubt into a beautiful opus about overcoming generational trauma, decorating the altar of the primordial blues and elevating the labour of healing to high art. Noticeably confident from the opening note, Son Little prioritizes his signature rasp as the chief instrument of every song on a 12-track meditation on the mortal struggle to achieve inner peace. Doling out a pearl-strung collection of successive epiphanies he engages each of his re-invigorated parts, empowering them to finally speak freely, with him as the vessel.

Formed in 2013 in Brighton(UK) as a trio, Poly-Math is an instrumental quartet composed by the drummer and sound engineer Chris WOOLLISON, the bassist Joe BRANTON, the guitarist Tim WALTERS and the last entry, the keyboardist Josh GESNER. In an interview released to VultureHound, they say that the band started because they were tired of writing music for others and wanted to be as weird as they can. Their music is powerful and skillfully played. The presence of a sound engineer as drummer gives an extra quality to the recordings. The band is also very active live and is a fixed presence at the Avant festival ArcTanGent. This is an 18+ event.

World News are a London-based quartet creating jangly, atmospheric and dreamy guitar driven music. Last year, they released 2 standout EP's, all brimful of their trademark addictive guitar lines, seductive melodies and ever-guessing moods. Recently nominated in Stereogums 40 Best New Artists of 2024, and featured in SPIN's and The FADER's artists to watch in 2025, this year they've set sites on their debut album and will be bringing their sound further afield.

Tom Rowley, going it alone for the first time, is one of the finest musicians from a generation of Sheffield artists blessed with talent. A cornerstone of Sheffield bands for two decades, most recently with Arctic Monkeys. He co-wrote portions of "Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino" and "The Car" with the band. Additionally, he's been a longtime touring member of the Arctic Monkeys, appearing on two world tours with the band. A founding member and writer with Sheffield Indie royalty Milburn, the band he founded at the age of 14, as well as performing and writing with Reverend & The Makers.
