Giffnock Rock Choir

26 May 2025 - 30 Jun 2025

If you have ever wondered 'are there any community choirs near me?' then the answer is firmly yes! The Giffnock Rock Choir is led by local vocal tutor Lauren McGarrigle. You may know about our unique sellout O2 arena event in 2013 and our secret singing flash mobs around country for Comic Relief (just search 'Great British flash mob' on YouTube!), but at Rock Choir we know it's not just about the unique huge events, it's about our choir members singing in the community. Join your local Giffnock Rock Choir to become part of this 'national phenomenon' (as described in the Sunday Times) and discover a whole new world of opportunities to sing and meet people. Joining a choir can be a brave step to take for some and in light of this Lauren tries to make it as easy as possible for you by giving the opportunity to have a FREE taster session and then to have a chat with her about singing. Rock Choir is the leading group in community singing. We launched our FREE choir taster sessions back in 2005 and have 19 years experience giving members of the public who are new to community singing the chance to try joining a choir without the need to audition or read music. Here is a quote about our choir - 'Rock Choir has helped me through really bad times in my life. Singing together lifts my spirits and helps me forget all my worries. I have made really good friends and it has certainly raised my confidence!! A year ago would never have attempted a solo but now enjoy the challenge. Rock Choir is really good fun and I do love singing anyway.' - Pauline (Rock Choir Member) Rock Choir is a winner of the Red Ribbon 'Big Heart' Award [https://rockchoir.com/awards-achievements/]. and holds 1 former and 2 current Guinness World Records. The choir is also credited with single handedly starting the contemporary choir movement.

Are you looking to learn to sing? The Giffnock Rock Choir is led by choir leader Lauren McGarrigle. The local men and women who have joined the choir who live in Giffnock and further afield in Glasgow often have never sung before or had any vocal tuition. Once you join the choir you will find you learn the songs by rote from a brilliant set of resources and you will be amazed how quickly you go from 'not sure' to 'performance ready'. The songs are uniquely arranged in a way that helped Rock Choir originally establish the simple high/middle and optional low voice approach to make songs easy to sing yet still challenge you in places. Lift your spirits and rejuvenate your body and soul with a weekly hour and a half of exceptional singing tuition by joining the Giffnock Rock Choir. There's no need to audition or read music, or even to perform if you're not ready, there's just a comfortable, friendly, family environment full of new friends to be made. If you are looking for a more convenient choir near Giffnock or a choir on another night of the week simply visit the choir locations page at rockchoir.com. Here is a quote about our choir - 'Since joining the Rock Choir, not only have I made some amazing new friends but I’ve found that my weekly singing sessions on a Monday evening start the week on a positive note and any tensions that may have occurred on a Monday morning disappear! - it’s a great mood reviver and I love the challenge of attempting to hit those high notes!' - Lynn (Rock Choir member) Rock Choir is a winner of the Red Ribbon 'Big Heart' Award [https://rockchoir.com/awards-achievements/]. and holds 1 former and 2 current Guinness World Records. The choir is also credited with single handedly starting the contemporary choir movement.
