English Heritage: Framlingham Castle

Framlingham is a late 12th-century castle surrounded by parkland and estates. Its owners for over 400 years were the Earls and Dukes of Norfolk, the supreme magnates in East Anglia. It was at Framlingham that Mary Tudor, elder daughter of Henry VIII, received news that she had been proclaimed England’s first ruling queen. There is a car park 300 metres from the entrance of the castle and an overflow carpark across the road. An interactive audio tour is included in admission price.
