With hits including Making Plans for Nigel, Senses Working Overtime and Sgt Rock (Is Going to Help Me), XTC was one of the UK’s most exciting and influential bands. But as the band’s success snowballed and the tours grew (including globe-trotting spells with The Police and Talking Heads) XTC main man, Andy Partridge, pulled the plug on touring making XTC a purely studio-based entity.
Honeyglaze

Honeyglaze

22 May 2025 - 22 May 2025

In their own words: “Hi we are Honeyglaze, and there’s no time to explain." Honeyglaze are South London based, haiku-loving trio comprised of vocalist and guitarist Anouska Sokolow, bassist Tim Curtis, and Yuri Shibuichi on drums. Born out of lead songwriter Sokolow’s un-desire to be a solo-act, the group met officially at their first ever rehearsal- just three days ahead of what was to become a near-residency, at their favoured ‘The Windmill’, Brixton. Forming a mere five-months ahead of a subsequent five-months of mandatory solitude, a parallel that’s both aligned and universally un-timely, Honeyglaze, at first appearance, are a group who play with chance, time, and synergetic fate, in a manner few others are able to do. Pricking the ears of seminal producer Dan Carey and his team of merry taste-makers: Speedy Wunderground (Tiña, Squid, Black Country New Road), initial brainstorms saw the Speedy Wunderground / Honeyglaze partnership manifest into a dynamic that, quite simply, just worked despite having never met before. The resulting body of work that was spawned of this instant chemistry is an album that tackles themes varying from jealousy to inadequacy, cushion-y companionships to the smell of coffee on clothes, as with all good reflections of self, Honeyglaze is a fly on the wall opportunity to get to know three familial strangers in your own way- whilst they too suss out themselves, and the ever-growing circle around them, in the span of 35 minutes.
Laurence Jones

Laurence Jones

23 May 2025 - 7 Jun 2025

Although Laurence doesn’t need too much of an introduction in the music business, for those that haven’t had the chance to see him yet, it’s well worth sharing a thing or two about this artist! He sings, he plays and he writes -- a triple craft -- and he does so like a veteran twice his age, but absolutely no ego and with both feet firmly on the ground! Hailed as 'one to watch' as a teenager by the blues media, concert/festival bookers, blues fans and various guitar stars alike, young Laurence really has come of age. The blues cub has become a man with a plan, turning heads and making jaws drop with his take-no-prisoners, incendiary live set and stunning records. Laurence and his crack band -- Jones on vocals and guitars, Roger Inniss on bass and Phil Wilson on drums -- put the power into power trio, with their modern day blues rock with an edge.
Peat & Diesel

Peat & Diesel

25 Jul 2025 - 25 Oct 2025

The story began when three Stornoway Cove's (Innes, Uilly and Boydie) met up in the house to have the craic on a Saturday night playing music with just the dog and the cat watching. After a few tunes getting thrown across the room Boydie stated muttering a few sentences. As he is a man of few words no attention was really given to him until he shouted 'Quick, line me out!' Not a second to spare a set of old broken headphones were cable tied to a guitar amp and out came a few cobwebs followed shortly after with a sound nobody had ever heard before. What came next was five gallons of lyrics, verse after verse, song after song Peat & Diesel was born! The songs won't make much sense to the average person, but the person behind the lyrics isn't your average man so if you have a listen and you can relate to it you are a special breed! Peat & Diesel Light my Byre takes you on a journey to the heart of the Western Isles, where #peatlemania was born. You might have time for a brandy in the 'Airidh' but don't miss your ride in Calum Dan's Transit Van, we ain't stopping till we lose the water!

The Nightingales

The Nightingales

21 May 2025 - 30 May 2025

Described in John Robb's definitive book on 'post punk' (Death To Trad Rock) as 'The misfits' misfits' and comprising an ever fluctuating line-up, based around lyricist/singer Robert Lloyd, the Nightingales enjoyed cult status in the early 80s as darlings of the credible music scene and were championed by John Peel, who said of them: 'Their performances will serve to confirm their excellence when we are far enough distanced from the 1980s to look at the period rationally and other, infinitely better known, bands stand revealed as charlatans.' The group recorded a bunch of critically acclaimed singles (almost always 'Single Of The Week' in the music press) and three albums, plus many radio sessions for their great supporter Peel. They also regularly toured the UK and Northern Europe, as headliners and supporting acts as diverse as Bo Diddley and Nico. Since re-grouping in 2000 they have played Glasto, SXSW etc and headlined Stewart Lee’s Austerity Binge on London’s Southbank.

Andrew Cushin

Andrew Cushin

6 May 2025 - 3 Jun 2025

Andrew Cushin possesses a nuanced, multifaceted talent for songwriting. The words that he conjures are both immensely personal and reflective of modern social issues, but those serious themes are delivered through songs with huge, pints-in-the-air singalong appeal. It’s a talent that’s winning a growing army of admirers, most notably Noel Gallagher, who produced and performed on Andrew’s previous single ‘Where’s My Family Gone’. Andrew’s ongoing discovery continues today as he releases just his fourth single, ‘Memories’. It’s a song which finds the 21-year-old artist poignantly exploring the idea of what masculinity means in the present day. There’s undoubtedly a real bravery in putting such vulnerable emotions in full view of the world at large, but that heartfelt honesty has been the driving factor behind all of his releases to date.
VOWER

VOWER

6 May 2025 - 10 May 2025

Whether through friendship and camaraderie or adoration and respect, when you make a vow, you put your heart and soul into everything that encompasses. There is no in-between. This is a sentiment Rabea Massaad, Josh Mckeown, Rory McLean, Joe Gosney and Liam Kearley found themselves drawn to when fate brought them together. With over a decade of touring, working, and becoming acquainted with one another in some way, shape, or form during their time in Toska, Palm Reader and Black Peaks, respectively, the last few years have allowed them to harness their experience and passion in a way they never thought they would be able to before. The result is Vower, a project that serves as a new form of expression within heavy music for its five members. It is a vessel where nothing is impossible, and everything feels fun, fresh and incredibly fulfilling. Serving as a light through the darkness as much as a new close-knit community to confide in, it has become a platform for remembering why they fell in love with crafting such gargantuan sounds in the first place. Marked by their joyous and energetic experience, the band has proven to be able to convey this message both in live and recorded settings. The music of Tramhaus feels like a soundtrack to a vivacious, mysterious, and dangerous story. This whole spectacle is fuelled by the near-symbiotic relationship between the five band members.

The Bykers then went stateside playing with the Cult at Madison Square Garden, where they impressed a watching Joey Ramone, who offered the band a support slot on the Ramones upcoming European tour. The band continued to evolve musically exploring new styles. Touring the UK, US and Europe it was this hedonistic and hectic schedule that eventually led the band to finally self-destruct in 1990... It’s something that you can’t fake or contrive and it’s what lies at the core of Skating Polly’s music. Admittedly the female-driven alternative acts that inspired the band such as Veruca Salt, X, The Breeders, L7 and Babes In Toyland (the later of whom Skating Polly toured with in Europe) aren’t typical reference points for most of today’s up-and-coming bands, but maybe they should be.
