Alternative TV. 1977-81 'Punk Bonanza' Set
Since their formation in 1977 Mark Perry's group Alternative TV have moved far away from their more direct punk rock beginnings into all manner of other areas of music that have sometimes themselves drawn from improvisation, free jazz, industrial and electronic music. Tonight, however, we're back to the beginning, as Mark Perry and co play a 'Punk Bonanza' set of tunes from 1977-81. After seeing The Damned perform in late 76, Social Security left their jobs and signed on. They recruited 'Spy' a Damned roadie so named because the Damned were convinced he was a spy for the Pistols. With 'Spy' on board as their new singer, The Socials became major players in the Bristol and West Country's burgeoning punk scene. Signed by Heartbeat Records They went on to record their first single on Bristol's newly formed Heartbeat record label. The single, a four track E.P. Was critically acclaimed by the legendary John Peel. Over the years the single has been re-released appearing on many highly regarded Punk anthology albums. After a lot of arm twisting by their former management and due to public pressure Social Security relented and have now reformed playing extensively and showcasing their unique wit and song writing abilities. Social Security are true originals, Don't miss them!!
The Stamps

The Stamps

5 Jun 2026 - 6 Jun 2026

Perth, Australia trio The Stamps (Sofia Hourani, Rubina Bertolini, Scarlett Graham) make coming-of-age indie pop that's equal parts grit and glow. Built on the raw chemistry of three best friends, their songs turn late- night feelings and half-broken moments into something urgent, melodic, and impossible to ignore. Their new single Maria (produced by Alex Burnett, Thelma Plum, Hockey Dad) shows the band at their most direct: punchy hooks, stacked harmonies, and a spark that feels both dangerous and alive. With a sound that sits between the euphoric shimmer of MUNA and the scrappy cool of Royel Otis, The Stamps are fast building a reputation for shows that are sweaty, unpolished, and electric -proof that pop can hit hard and still feel personal.

London is a four piece punk band formed in 1976. Simon Le Bon said they were the first band he ever saw, Paul Simonon of The Clash remembered them as a great live band with good songs, and Simon Napier-Bell described them as the band that blew my bloody ears off! They toured extensively throughout 1977, including a major UK tour with The Stranglers (the Rattus Norvegicus tour.) Their final gig was at the Marquee Club in Wardour Street on the 8th December 1977. The band broke up shortly afterwards and MCA released their album 'Animal Games' in early 1978. Following the split, Drummer Jon Moss first joined The Damned and then formed Culture Club with Boy George. Riff Regan released solo records on MCA and Epic before becoming a comedy writer under his real name of Miles Tredinnick; Steve Voice formed a new band The Original Vampires and Dave Wight following stints in Metro and Holly and the Italians
Pansy Division (Us Punk) + the Maisonettes
PANSY DIVISION biography Pansy Division is a gay pop-punk formed in San Francisco in 1991. There have been gay musicians throughout rock music history, but when Pansy Division began they were one of the first to be so boldly open about it. Founded by guitarist/singer Jon Ginoli and bassist/vocalist Chris Freeman, with the intent of forming a gay rock band, and joined later by drummer Luis Illades and guitarist Joel Reader, Pansy Division blew the closet doors open. Raised on a diet of 60s pop and 70s punk, their sound was suitably crunchy and catchy as hell. They wrote in-your-face lyrics, but did it with a sense of humor. Not only did their music and stance defy stereotypical norms of rock musicians being openly gay, they also broke gay cultural stereotypes that rock wouldnt interest gay people. With album titles like Undressed and Deflowered, and song titles like The Cocksucker Club and "I'm Gonna Be a Slut," their bluntness and humor stood out amidst the 90s underground music scene. Says Chris Freeman, there was a lot of gay culture we couldnt relate to, so we tried to invent a place for ourselves in it, an alternative for other queer misfits. Having had the experience of being ostracized by other musicians for being gay and by other gays for being into rock, we tried to turn our alienation into something positive, says Ginoli. Instead of being depressed about it, we tried to make music that would make usand our audiencehappy. We could laugh about it, so we put that joy into the music. Writing upbeat catchy songs and combining them with overtly sexual and sometimes humorous lyrics, Pansy Division toured North and America and Europe in the '90s and developed a cult following worldwide that exists to this day. They took a stand poking fun at homophobes and asserting a positive message of inclusion while singing about topics rarely heard in the world of rock and punk. They have been going for over 30 years and their approach remains relevant now. Signing to Berkeley's Lookout Records, they recorded six albums and reached a wider audience opening for former Lookout Records alumni Green Day on their Dookie tour in 1994. Later they moved to Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles Records, and have released three albums and a compilation since, including the most recent Quite Contrary. Their 2026 tour will be their first tour of Europe since 1998, apart from the Punk Rock Raduno festival in Italy which they played in 2019 and are playing again this year. Skating Polly & Lord Friday the 13th

10 Oct 2026 - 10 Oct 2026

Over the past decade, few artists have embodied the unbridled freedom of punk like Skating Polly. Formed when stepsisters Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse were just nine and 13,the Oklahoma-bred band have channelled their chameleonic musicality into a sound they call ugly-pop, unruly and subversive and wildly melodic. With Kelli's brother Kurtis Mayo joining on drums in 2017, they've also built a close-knit community of fans while earning the admiration of their musical forebears, a feat that's found them collaborating with icons like X's Exene Cervenka and Beat Happening's Calvin Johnson , touring with Babes In Toyland, and starring as the subject of a feature-length documentary. On their double album Chaos County Line, Skating Polly reach a whole new level of self-possession, ultimately sharing their most expansive and emotionally powerful work to date.

Dagobah + Stickler

Dagobah + Stickler

12 Jun 2026 - 12 Jun 2026

Dagobah Dagobah members of whom you may have seen moonlighting in Freak by Wire, Spitting Blood, The Vootubes, Carnivala! or (if youre old enough) Spudgun and The Mildreds were formed in the legendary North Devon music scene of the twentieth century's dying throes, but have, miraculously, barring one or two line-up changes (some of which were just members swapping instruments) been together ever since. Okay, so there may have been the odd ten-to-fifteen-year gap between gigs, and they may not all live in the same city anymore, but nobody ever suggested the band didnt exist at any point (ignore all the reunion gigs). Some of the two-minute brutalist punk anthems of their early days remain a part of their live shows, but over the last decade their music has veered closer to the bastard child of Mogwai and Can, with ethereal soundscapes (that still sometimes fall over the edge back to that brutalist punk sound of the nineties) being painted beneath spoken-word samples. This new sound has been captured on their debut EP, which we are here tonight to release into the world, the band having spent the last year recording it, mixing it, losing the files, finding them again, remixing it again, and then arguing about whose guitar should be louder while being quietly ignored by the technical wizards whove made it sound good enough for Dagobah to finally put out a record (many others have been recorded over the decades, but this is the first to make it through the barricades). Enjoy. Stickler Stickler are an alternative rock band forged in the bowels of the Forest of Dean. They write songs about life, love, pain and the human condition.
