The Burning Hell

The Burning Hell

26 Aug 2025 - 12 Sept 2025

The Burning Hell is the alter-ego of Canadian songwriter Mathias Kom, and the band has been on the road in one form or another since 2007, playing everywhere from festivals like Glastonbury and Dawson City to bars, living rooms, abandoned bunkers, and a mental asylum in rural France. Musically, The Burning Hell runs the gamut from introspective folk to hyperactive rock and roll, and so the band can adapt to its surroundings like a karma of anthropomorphic chameleons, taking the audience on a supermarket-cart ride through hooky, upbeat pop songs, dark ballads about pet euthanasia, and anthems for barbarians, economic conferences, and love.
Lightheaded + Jeanines

Lightheaded + Jeanines

23 Jul 2025 - 27 Jul 2025

Jeanines and Lightheaded, two of the brightest American indiepop bands, have new albums coming out. Skep Wax Records (UK and Europe) are delighted to be co-releasing them alongside Slumberland Records (US). Jeanines third album How Long Can It Last sees the New York band in total control of their songcraft, with thirteen miniature pop gems. Jeanines can fit in more melody and more breathtaking choruses in two minutes than most pop bands manage across an entire album. First single On And On demonstrates this perfectly. How can such a brief pop song be so overwhelming Lightheaded, from New Jersey, are one of the most exciting new US pop bands, and this album combines a brand new set of songs with five tracks from their delightful Good Good Great EP, a cassette-only release on Slumberland, now available on vinyl for the first time. Lightheaded bring together the songwriting discipline of Nancy and Lee with a modern appetite for noise and reverb. It's possible to get utterly lost and absorbed in this album. The songs echo classics of the past but also feel like they've arrived from the distant future. It's quite disorienting, but very exciting.
Vapors of Morphine

Vapors of Morphine

21 Nov 2025 - 21 Nov 2025

Vapors of Morphine are a power trio featuring electric baritone sax, drums, and 2 string slide bass (often guitar). Baritone saxophonist Dana Colley is the through-line between Vapors and low rock pioneers Morphine, whose leader Mark Sandman left this earth while performing onstage in Italy in 1999. Vapors of Morphine perform much of the Morphine repertoire, plus new material and original versions of selective covers. They expand on the ethereal, hypnotic sounds popularised by the group in the nineties, and dig into their influences, from African music to delta Blues. The group was formed over a decade ago by Dana Colley, singer and multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Lyons and Morphine's original drummer Jerome Deupree. Drummer Tom Arey (J. Geils Band, Peter Wolfe's Midnight Ramblers, Ghosts of Jupiter) replaced Deupree in 2019. Their latest album, Fear & Fantasy, represents both a new era and a return to form for Vapors of Morphine. In its often lush arrangement, recalls Morphine's final album, The Night, where Deupree teamed up with Billy Conway, the drummer who had replaced him; this time Arey plays on one side, Deupree on the other. It only seems fitting when both bands have been blessed with a revolving cast of top-notch percussionists.
Kathryn Williams

Kathryn Williams

6 Oct 2025 - 23 Feb 2026

Journeying from leftfield contemporary pop to soft acoustics, Kathryn Williams' brand new album Night Drives explores a variety of fresh ideas. Her first official album since Hypoxia in 2015, Night Drives opens with some of Kathryn’s most immediately electronic tracks to date. Elsewhere on the album, a more cinematic sound is explored; slowly unravelling stories backed by delicate acoustics and elated, emotive string pieces; before relaxing into the more traditional world of folk inspired melancholia. Kathryn’s inimitable charm colours the whole album with emotion and affection. The classic references that Kathryn draws from, particularly that of fellow Liverpudlians The Beatles, are clear throughout the new record, which plays like a road-trip through her styles and influences. It recalls visions of a British countryside lightly illuminated by the flicker of passing lampposts and the endless, rolling landscapes beyond them. These are intelligent, self-aware tracks, with Kathryn’s unmistakable writing backed with beautifully arranged, natural compositions. Kathryn Williams is often described as 'a songwriter’s songwriter', her timeless and searching work has earned her accolades, critical acclaim, and a loyal fan-base. While her best-known work is characterised by rich and honest songwriting inspired by the greats, Williams has continually been able to evolve as an artist because she’s always looked outside of such boundaries - she continues to listen and learn while, at the same time, writing with a fiery spirit and a sense of adventure that has never once wilted.

Meryl Streek

Meryl Streek

17 Sept 2025 - 17 Sept 2025

Arriving in 2022, Irish artist Meryl Streek was unaware of the impact his clash of experimental electronica and explosive punk would have on the music scene around him. Armed with just a microphone and a laptop, in less than a year the Dublin based producer went from playing his first show in a local squat to performing live at Kentish Town Forum, London, supporting post-punk legends Public Image Ltd. Meryl Streek's debut album 796 (2022) cemented itself as one of the most visceral, important political records of the decade so far, with one critic praising it as the most incendiary and important punk rock album of the year (Paul Brannigan/Louder). Though rooted in Irish socio-political commentary, the album's themes resonated with people around the world, leading to live performances across Europe and as far as Gran Canaria. Songs For The Deceased once again saw the Irish artist enter Darklands Audio with producer Dan Doherty (Fontaines D.C.). The outcome is a kaleidoscopic fusion of news samples, distorted guitars, electronic beats, and traditional Irish music, all laying the foundation for Streek's impassioned spoken word performance. To push the music into new spaces, Meryl Streek invited guest musicians to collaborate. Benefits Kingsley Hall provides spoken word to the album's Interlude, Cal Graham from UK punks The Chisel appears on Dogs and influential guitarist Oliver Ackermann (A Place to Bury Strangers) delivers a feedback soaked outro for the song Murder. Lyrically the songs veer from the deeply personal (Paddy is a tribute to his uncle Paddy, a unique individual who chose to live life by his own terms) to historic tragedies (Stardust remembers the victims of the fire that took place at the Stardust venue Feb 14th 1981, killing 48 people and leaving families begging for answers as to why the disaster happened in the first place). This is a collection of stories about Betrayal, Murder, Injustice, and Corruption around my hometown of Dublin. explains Meryl Streek. It's not just happening in Ireland, it's happening around the world and were supposed to just take it lying down. Politically charged and sonically vibrant, Songs For The Deceased isnt just a statement about Ireland, it's a call to arms around the world.

6 Nov 2025 - 6 Nov 2025

James Adrian Brown is the former lead guitarist of the alternative rock band Pulled Apart By Horses. After achieving chart success, touring the world, and releasing four critically acclaimed studio albums with PABH, James has begun paving a new path in instrumental electronic music and composition. Brown's solo work is heavily electronica-based, utilising analogue synths alongside tape machines, piano, strings, and immersive ambient atmospherics. His focus lies in the analogue process of capturing and creating sound using physical hardware. He has received support from the likes of Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music and Chris Hawkins, who championed him for creating massive electronic soundscapes in a Mogwai kind of world. James was also featured on BBC Radio 3's Unclassified by host Elizabeth Alker. Taking inspiration from artists such as Boards of Canada, Rival Consoles and Thom Yorke, Brown is exploring, evolving, and pushing his songwriting into bold new sonic territories. His debut album is set to be released on the revered UK electronic label Castles In Space, marking a significant new chapter in his journey as a solo artist. Sulk Rooms A pseudonym of Yorkshire based composer Thomas Ragsdale, the music of Sulk Rooms draws the link between euphoric electronica and smoke engulfed drones.
Pete Fij

Pete Fij

30 Nov 2025 - 30 Nov 2025

Sporting one of the most memorable and charismatic voices in the music scene, Pete Fij(alkowski) returns with new solo material and a raft of brand new indie pop classics. Pete first burst onto the scene in the early 90s as the frontman and guitarist of post-shoegaze / pre-Britpop band Adorable, whose 1993 album Against Perfection, released on the legendary Creation Records, is regularly referred to as a lost indie classic, with the band picking up multiple 'Single of the Week' awards in the NME, and topping the Indie charts. Noel Gallagher once told Creation Records' Alan McGhee that dropping Adorable from the label was one of his biggest mistakes, whilst other artists such as Ash, Slowdive, Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Air Formation and Brian Jonestown Massacre have all expressed their admiration for the band. Following this he joined up with his brother Krzys to form One Little Indian band Polak (Swansongs 2000 / Rubbernecking 2002) which took in influences from the likes of Sparklehorse, Radiohead and dEUS, and led The Independent to call him "the most gifted lyricist since Jarvis Cocker last put pen to paper". There then followed a musical exile, after having what Pete now describes as a musical breakdown before re-emerging alongside celebrated House of Love guitarist Terry Bickers to release two critically acclaimed albums as Pete Fij / Terry Bickers on 2014's Broken Heart Surgery, and 2017's We Are Millionaires, winning the Roundtable 'Single of The Week' on Steve Lamacq's BBC 6Music show - "Beautiful" (MOJO) "Unfailingly lovely" (UNCUT) "Stunning" (OHM) "Beautifully constructed" (Q). Adorable then reformed for a few weeks in 2019 for a series of one off dates that sold out in record time, playing bigger venues than they did in their heyday and then broke up again. After another musical hiatus, he's back: Having spent a few years working in a care home during Covid alongside working as a funeral celebrant, and after years of singing downbeat songs of heartbreak and loss, I thought I'd go more upbeat and kick some indie ass. The working title of his forthcoming LP is appropriately enough 'Up's The New Down' (to be released in 2026) and sees him embracing his fuzzed up dream-pop guitar past, as well as incorporating elements of electronica and pop. Pete's lush and rich baritone voice has been compared to Lee Hazlewood, Lou Reed and Richard Hawley in the past and fans will be pleased to hear that, if anything, it's sounding stronger, more urgent and characterful than ever. Having built up a reputation as an intelligent and talented songwriter, as well as a dynamic live performer, these new songs add an exciting new chapter to Pete's zig zag career in music.
